First Opera, Singing was amazing, Orchestra was amazing, Set design was awesome. The story for Turandot was ugh... lets say it doesn't keep up with the times. That is in no way the Opera's Fault. The Opera was a bit warm inside, I saw that...More

Thank you for your kind words about our production of Turandot. Most operas in the standard repertoire were written between the 1700s and the early 1920s. They are pieces of art, and surely they are windows to the past. I am sorry that you had...More

My wife and I have traveled to see many opera companies. In 2019 we made it to Sarasota to see two performances, including Nabucco. These were without a doubt the best performances we have seen from a regional opera. While other regional opera companies usually...More

We saw a beautiful ballet show at this opera house. The ballet was magnificent and the opera house is a great venue for it.

We went to see the Westcoast Black Theatre’s Black Nativity. It was wonderful. The Sarasota Opera was the perfect venue. Acoustics were good and the staff were well organized. A wonderful production, a wonderful evening. A great way to celebrate the coming of Christmas.

First two acts were mostly traditional ballet which I love. I (and most of the audience around me concurred) however that the operatic singing throughout the second act should be eliminated. It was so distracting, did nothing to enhance the piece at all. The wonderful...More

Evening music performance was beautiful, wonderful acoustics, no bad seats. However, the weak A/C made the event uncomfortable when patrons filed the house. Water not allowed inside, so we had to suffer through what would have been a splendid concert.
