We almost always spend at least one day of our vacation at the library in Sanibel. It is beautiful and it is nice to just sit and read a few magazines and explore a new place. The Sanibel library is like a mini museum with a lot of shells and information about Florida and the Islands.

Beautiful shell display on both floors. Don't miss the shell floral display by the elevator on the 2nd floor.

The public library has an amazing shell collection scattered around the books and computers, offering visitors a temporary library card so they can sign out a jig saw puzzle or cookie baking kit. Tourists can use the free WiFi or print their boarding passes; the locals enjoy the lecture series and public meeting spaces. If you are lucky, you may... More

For a small town, Sanibel sure has put a lot of thought and effort in providing it's residents and guests with a modern, upscale Library.

Before going to Sanibel, I saw Sanibel Public Library popping up as the top attraction in Sanibel on my TripAdvisor App. I thought who would go to Sanibel to visit the library?! The day before we left town to Sanibel, our daughter came home with a school project that required some library research. Guess what?! Sanibel Public Library was our... More

My kids absolutely love the library on Sanibel. They have a fun and extensive kids section. It is a great way to spend a rainy afternoon or to get out of the sun/heat.

We learned about this library right here on Trip Advisor. Usually you wouldn't think that a library would be necessarily over interesting, but this one was. At the entrance, there is a large shell display which was very impressive. There is also a display with some fossilized shells found during the library's building process. The ladies upstairs are wonderful as... More

Funny, but the library is our favorite stop on the island (aside from the beach, of course). Great children's area. There is a toddler play area and the staff doesn't mind the noise. The selection of books is good, but not great. Still, there is plenty to choose from. Young adult/teen selection is very small im comparison. Adult book selection... More
