This is on all the lists of things to see on Sanibel but it's really not worth seeing unless you have time to kill. It's nothing special especially after touring lighthouses in my home state of Michigan. Plus you have to pay to park so we just drove by.

Not much to see here and the beaches surrounding this area were not very nice either. Lots of trash, sea weed and the water was actually blackish in color. Beach looks like a steam roller crushed all of the washed up shells. Would not recommend.

Not what you would expect from a island beach area. we went there 4x. we are early people so there was no issue about getting a parking spot around 7 but when we left at 9 there were cars "trolling". There is a fee for parking ANYTIME of day. advise water shoes for walking on the beach. This is not... More

Great beach around the lower tip of the island. Great photo spot with the historic lighthouse in the back drop. At low tide you can dig in the tide pools and find some awesome unbroken shells. Fishing pier was being renovated. A nice place for a walk.

This is a great destination for a bike ride and maybe a day at a different kind of beach. Smaller crowds, soft white sand, and lots of nearby palms providing shade and a real sense of place. After a few days at the beach outside of your condo it can be a nice change. The lighthouse, despite its misleading name,... More

Well its something to do. But theres no tour, and you cant go up in the lighthouse. There are more seashells here than any other spot on the island that ive found so far. It was really cool to watch the sunset here, but go to the beach thats heading away from the light house to get farther west.

It's worth a stop (and parking fee) to take a walk around the lighthouse and make your way to the fishing pier. The lighthouse itself is kind of unusual -- to me it looks like a cross between a water tower and an oil rig! Keep going and check out the fishing pier. You'll get nice views of the causeway... We visited this lighthouse on our second day at Sanibel and enjoyed the trip. You can't actually climb up or go on the lighthouse, but you are able to tour the grounds below. Parking was plentiful (paid) but they were in the process of rebuilding the dock when we visited in June. It was apparently already in need of being... More

After driving down the East Florida coast and going to Key West, this was one of our first stops on the West Florida Coast. $4 per hour to park, this after $6 to cross the bridge. It's not really a lighthouse, more like a structure with a light on top. The water appeared dirty after seeing the other coast.

Nice place to have a view to Ft. Meyers Beach. You can find shells and go swimming in the sea. A lot of parking lots available
