THe Sanibel lighthouse has survived multiple hurricanes, including "Andrew", which destroyed a lot of the island. It survives becauses it doesn't provide much in the wayh of wind resistance. Its design allows the wind to go right through it. The lighthouse grounds don;t offer a lot, but there is a great beach nearby and there are good, clean estrooms available.... More

A great location near the beach and we enjoyed the nice brown color. A peaceful place even with all the tourists.

The best beach location in SI in my opinion, especially since the new restrooms opened at the edge of the parking lot. Short walk to beach, parking is $$$ and sometimes have to wait for a open space.

The historic light house is easy to access from the beach or road many great places to photograph, also long clean beach to enjoy. There are toll fees to cross the bridge. There are parking fees to park for the beach and light house. The causeway has plenty of pull off parking at no charge to view, fish, swim, in... More

My friend has a condo on Sanibel so we walk to the lighthouse and then on to the fishing pier and back to get exercise. I don't think that the lighthouse is open to the public but I have heard that you can find accommodations either in or close by the lighthouse. This last time we passed the lighthouse on... More

If you want to see dolphins swimming, find better sea shells, and have a tremendous view of the mainland, this is your spot. The sand is wonderful and you can wait out to sandbars making it look like you are away from the beach. People bring their beach chairs just to enjoy the view and the feel of this area.

We road bikes to the lighthouse. What a well kept place right on the Gulf of Mexico. Beaches surround the park area with great walking areas. Nice stop.

We never tire to visiting this place every year we go to Sanibel. It is a great oasis to walk on the beach or sit by the picnic tables in the shade.

As the lighthouse is a place visit and as some information it is NOT open on a daily basis to go in. It is interesting and in a good park near the beach and fishing pier . . . . . .

This is by the city park, so you must visit while you are there if not from simple curiosity. How many lighthouses do you see in Florida? (really, I do not know) But something to do on a long narrow strip of sand anyway when you have time to poke around.
