A few tricky holes, but mostly just good, straight forward golf without too many surprises. The greens are sometimes pretty slippery, so that can be fun. This is a an old PGA course from way back and is always in a pretty good state of readiness. I have been there probably 50 times in the last 25 years and have always enjoyed it and look forwards to my next round there. Not fancy and not what I would call pristine, but doesn't cost a fortune either and is very enjoyable to me.

My day of golf was ruined by the cart guy. He chased me down at the first tee and accused me of taking my cart from the barn instead of the clubhouse. This was not true and I suggested he watch the surveillance video before being so accusatory. He called me a liar and started raising his voice. At this point I no longer wanted to play if that's how I'm going to be treated. Then he yelled at me in the parking lot in front of other guests on my way out. Stay away from this guy at all costs unless you want to be treated like a criminal. The other employees are nice and I've played here once before with no issue.

What was once a historic golf course with a storied past, has deteriorated into a sad excuse for a regular municipal golf course. Under the ownership of the City of Sanford, the course is nearly unplayable. Bare tees, fairways (loosely used that term here) with little grass, that usually produce a lie on sand with little or no grass. The rough was scraggly and had very little grass. The greens were fair and rolled OK, but were inconsistent and couldn't hold a shot even if your ball was covered in superglue. The cart paths (what few they have) are pretty much worn out. The ancient riding carts sound like the transmissions are shot, run herky-jerky, and are extremely loud. The management seems content to run the place for regular, high handicap players who aren't concerned with decent course conditions. The heavy volume of (slow) play is all about making some money. They tore down the old, rotted out clubhouse, and (I guess) are planning to replace it with a new one?? Instead, continue using the temporary pro shop and snack bar - and spend some serious money to bring this course back. Trouble is that could cost $1-2 million minimum. The only thing this place might be good for is beginners and kids who play for free and are just learning the game. Otherwise, it just may be the worst golf course in the greater Orlando area.

We play here once in awhile when we have new starting players because it is a good place for them. It is hard to loose a ball. Very old place and not kept well.

4 of us women signed up for a charity tournament, admittedly we are not great players, but managed to stay on par.An employee went to our husbands who were playing behind us to have us play faster as many holes were backed up.Our husbands explained that we had to wait for players in front of us who were in turn waiting for people in front of them .An intiminating ,large man later drove across the course while we were shooting stated he was told to come over to tell us to hurry up,we explained we had to keep stopping as there were people in front, he was aggressive in his mannerisms and rude, and insinuated he was sent to talk to us by management. We decided to leave as we no longer felt comfortable. We were the only female team. The manager Pete, denied the man worked there,or was sent by him and said he could address it if he knew who he was.Another employee readily knew this man as he had been an issue before.Of course it all meant nothing as we no longer wanted to be harassed and intiminated by this man and management was not even willing to speak to him. Horrible day will never return, and a warning for females on this course alone, you are on your own.

This course shoves all the trash from the course up against the peoples homes. They keep a beautiful golf course sloppy. The roof of the maintenance building is falling off. It looks very pretty from the road but when you get to the places that the road can't see, you will find dead grass, pipes laying on the ground and mounds of dirt.

This is a fine old (1922) course that has lost its sheen. The course is not as long as modern courses but with 5 sets of tee blocks there is challenge for everyone. We found the fairways and greens to be well-groomed but the dormant grass was rough, tee boxes were rough with bare spots and cart paths were a danger to drive on. I also noticed a white picket & rail fence totally falling down and some of it had fallen into the adjacent pond. The greens were solid and very fast. You never wanted to be above the hole. However, if you are a good putter, the holes are most often attainable. The club house, and starter staff were very friendly and most helpful. We were greeted in the car park by a gentleman ready to load our bags on a power cart. The golf fee was definitely priced right.

The food was the best thing about Mayfair. The chef special was really tasty. I will go again, just to eat. The course needs work, however, it is challenging. The clubhouse is outdated, no scorecards, they provided a black and white copy of a scorecard (TACKY). Restroom very clean.
