What was once a historic golf course with a storied past, has deteriorated into a sad excuse for a regular municipal golf course. Under the ownership of the City of Sanford, the course is nearly unplayable. Bare tees, fairways (loosely used that term here) with little grass, that usually produce a lie on sand with little or no grass. The rough was scraggly and had very little grass. The greens were fair and rolled OK, but were inconsistent and couldn't hold a shot even if your ball was covered in superglue. The cart paths (what few they have) are pretty much worn out. The ancient riding carts sound like the transmissions are shot, run herky-jerky, and are extremely loud. The management seems content to run the place for regular, high handicap players who aren't concerned with decent course conditions. The heavy volume of (slow) play is all about making some money. They tore down the old, rotted out clubhouse, and (I guess) are planning to replace it with a new one?? Instead, continue using the temporary pro shop and snack bar - and spend some serious money to bring this course back. Trouble is that could cost $1-2 million minimum. The only thing this place might be good for is beginners and kids who play for free and are just learning the game. Otherwise, it just may be the worst golf course in the greater Orlando area.

Golfer Beware!
City of Sanford owns this course and recently hired Integrity Golf Services, LLC, . to run it.
The previous management lessee died and the City initially stated that all memberships would be honored.
However, on 10/23/13 members were "notified " via an unsigned, undated flyer available only at the pro shop that all memberships were being cancelled without cause, effective on 10/27/13.
"Notified" on a Wednesday afternoon and cancelled on Sunday at 6PM. Less than 3 business days notice.
Many members remain unaware that their membership is no longer honored and all members lost money -some had prepaid for several years.
The City of Sanford via its management agent Integrity Golf Services,LLC. breached a contract with members with little notice and without cause. "Integrity " Golf, indeed.
Watch out. You could be next.

Thanks to a fantastic deal from GolfNow I enjoyed 36 holes of golf and lunch for under $40. As this was my first day of golf in five months I could easily overlook the deficiencies of the course. What really made the day was the friendliness of the staff and of the players I was paired with.

Played here because of it's proximity to the Orlando/Sanford airport. The price was reasonable for 18 holes. The course was opened in 1922 and probably hasn't changed much. The tee boxes were in terrible shape and the fairways not much better. The greens were half decent but the greenside bunkers were almost unplayable. For the most part the course is forgiving with a few large oaks occasionally getting in the way. The pace of play was on the slow side with a lot of foursomes. Unbelievably, there was a group of 7 people ahead of us. There were two adults and two 10 year olds playing golf and three spectators walking along with the golfers moving at the spectators pace. Never seen it before and hopefully never again. Had to jump a hole to get around them.

I love playing Mayfair because it is never overly crowded, the fees are fair, and the golf course is well maintained. We usually can squeeze in 9 holes after work in the summer for like $15. Also the restaurant\bar is open late for your convenience.

To be honest, this golf course is horrible. Terribly kept , way too on top of itself, bad staff. And super crowded. No cart girl, the “pro shop” is a trailer, super small and tight parking lot like man I usually don’t care as long as I’m out there golfing but it was just baddddd

Play is always slow. You will wait on each hole, but that is understandable during the winter with many 'snow birds' in Florida. Last week, I was playing alone, so I invited the two golfers behind me to join me at the first tee. It took 1 hour to play the first three holes, so those two golfers got so frustrated that they went home. I invited the next two golfers who came up behind me to join me as we were waiting at one of the next tees. One of those guys left after hole 12 because he was running out of time. Today I was playing with 2 family members. It was slow, as usual, but we accepted that reality. We were following a two-some, and since it was 86 degrees, the course wasn't quite as crowded and we moved along at a surprisingly normal pace. However, when we made the turn, two 4-somes had jumped in the gap ahead. They were terribly slow and made no attempt to hurry, or to let the 2-some ahead of us play through. After several slow holes, the 2-some ahead of us jumped several holes ahead of them. After a while, the 3-some behind us quit. I have never experienced so many golfers quitting because of slow players and because of golfers jumping in on hole 10. The course is decent, but there is no ranger to move slow players along. And, allowing golfers to start on hole ten when there is a line of golfers coming up the ninth fairway is ridiculous. If you golf at Mayfair, either be a terribly slow player or plan on being frustrated.

We play here once in awhile when we have new starting players because it is a good place for them. It is hard to loose a ball. Very old place and not kept well.

4 of us women signed up for a charity tournament, admittedly we are not great players, but managed to stay on par.An employee went to our husbands who were playing behind us to have us play faster as many holes were backed up.Our husbands explained that we had to wait for players in front of us who were in turn waiting for people in front of them .An intiminating ,large man later drove across the course while we were shooting stated he was told to come over to tell us to hurry up,we explained we had to keep stopping as there were people in front, he was aggressive in his mannerisms and rude, and insinuated he was sent to talk to us by management. We decided to leave as we no longer felt comfortable. We were the only female team. The manager Pete, denied the man worked there,or was sent by him and said he could address it if he knew who he was.Another employee readily knew this man as he had been an issue before.Of course it all meant nothing as we no longer wanted to be harassed and intiminated by this man and management was not even willing to speak to him. Horrible day will never return, and a warning for females on this course alone, you are on your own.
