Little Wekiva River - 8 mile downstream paddle

7 reviews
We are the only outfitters that puts people on the seldom traveled Little Wekiva River. This trip is perfect for the adventure minded, quiet seeking, wildlife observer, birder, or folks who like traveling far from the crowds.

We shuttle you and your gear upstream, cover your launch fee, and then you just peacefully make your way downstream back to our office on the river. Expect to spend 3-5 hours on the water.

After visiting the Central Florida Zoo in Sanford, my friend and I headed to downtown Sanford (about 4 miles away) for a bite to eat. We discovered a beautiful waterfront park and lots of places to eat, many with patio seating. We ate at the Breezeway (about a block away from the marina) and then had a drink at the St. John's Steak and Seafood Restaurant on the back deck overlooking the water. It was an idyllic day.

We actually did a two hours bike tour of Sanford on Saturday, and really enjoyed the old architectural design of most of the buildings and houses. It somewhat reminded me a little bit of Savanah or Charleston!

During COVID-19 it is extremely difficult to find some thing that is safe to do. We wanted to have lunch in Stanford, and decided to take a lunch cruise on the St John’s Rivership. Pleasantly surprised that the social distances and mask mandates were practiced by everyone. The lunch included: Fresh fruit and vegetable tray, salad, prime rib and steamed vegetables. Dessert was strawberry cake. Please order medium when getting the prime rib. Great price for a Sunday getaway.

We came here many years ago and there was nothing to see or do. Pleasantly surprised this visit, lots of restaurants to choose from, a few shops. The buildings are lovely and each labelled with its history which is great for visitors. Plenty of free parking, worth a visit around a meal time .
