My first time to Tampa and I was looking for cultural activities in Tampa/ St. Petersburg area. I came across McClellan Gallery and decided to check it out. I was visiting with my mother and we were heading to Imagine Museum which displays glass artistic pieces. We stopped at McClellan first which is a few minutes away from The Imagine Museum. There was no admission fee but you can make a donation towards educating the school children in the field of art which the gallery is involved in. Stunning pieces and absolutely unexpected and beautiful pieces displayed made of blown or other types of glass in their garden and inside the building. From outside the building you have no idea there is so much beauty inside. If I hadn't checked and rechecked the site on Google before we head that way, I probably wouldn't have gone in. The sign to the gallery is very easy to miss and the area looks a little remote. My mother was a little hesitant to come in. But then you go in and it feels like an oasis in the desert. Absolutely beautiful pieces. Right after that we went to Imagine Museum which also displayed very similar pieces in their museum. It shows that the pieces at McClellan were all museum quality art work.

Very cool art gallery featuring glasswork. Functioning glassblowing place behind which you can take a look around. Lovely garden with lots of places to sit and just relax. Parking is easy. Entrance is free but you could leave a donation as they do a lot of good things with the local schools. Probably 99.9% of the people never buy anything from the gallery, but it introduces you to some really beautiful pieces of art. People are friendly and helpful. Leave your backpack in the car so you don’t knock over any of the pieces.

The art in the gallery is on par with what you see in the Imagine Museum. It's all very well displayed and the space is inviting and casual. The outside area and garden have some incredible exotic plants along with loads of orchids, making this both an artistic and natural outing. The people working there are friendly and helpful. It took almost two hours to see everything. It's free to enter, with a non-pushy option for donations to support art programs. After being amazed for two hours, it's effortless to give something to help keep that art form alive and well! Highly recommend.

Thank you, Leslie! I'm so glad you took the time to leisurely enjoy the expansive art collection, inside and out. You were just here 2 days ago, but we've already acquired more new artwork, with more on the way from England, so there will be additional works to see the next time you're in the area. We appreciate your kind comments. Thank you for your donation to DMG School Project too!

This Gallery is great. I have lived here for 24 years and had no idea what a treasure we have. No entry fee is required, there is a voluntary donation jar which we used. The outside area is fun to wander around and relax in. If you love glass art, this is the place for you. I am ready to take classes now! Duncan is pleased to explain about the art and artists. If you like the art from the “blown away” tv series, this place is for you.

What a wonderful surprise that our docent for the Duncan McClellan Gallery was Duncan! I had called the gallery to make an appointment for Cadette Troop 1227 of Seminole, Florida to have a tour, and the receptionist gave me her phone number and email address to stay in contact before we arrived for our tour. The receptionist was Irene Duncan! As I mentioned, Duncan was our tour guide and he was delighted to share the techniques of creating beautiful pieces of glass art by the various artists. He gave us his full attention for an hour, taking us to the garden with all organic plants, and to the St. Petersburg Hot Glass Workshop where the ovens and equipment are housed. We were awestruck by the beautiful pieces and projects, and by Duncan and Irene's hospitality. They graciously accept donations for their ongoing endeavors.

Dear mommers5,
Thank you for your kind words and 5 star review. We are thrilled that you and the Cadette Troop 1227 of Seminole had such a wonderful and educational experience at our gallery. A couple of the things that separate us from a lot of the large galleries out there are the passion and personal connection you get here while being immersed in world class art. Duncan is a wealth of knowledge and, as you mentioned, is happy to share it with the community and world. We look forward to seeing you again in the future!
Sincerely,
Jack Alden

A hidden gem of a gallery!
We were fortunate enough to be hosted by Duncan as we toured through this beautiful collection of art. It was a gorgeous day which allowed us to explore the exotic tropical oasis of a garden gallery that is part of the property. The variety of orchids and mangoes hanging around only set off the stunning glass pieces on display. Make sure to have time as their is a lot to see.
We had not planned for supper and Duncan kindly recommended a restaurant that would provide us with a great meal and a beautiful view of the sunset that evening.

This is an amazing gallery of world-class glass artists. The owners have collected a varied array of beautiful pieces that range in styles and prices. Even though prices reflect those who are serious collectors, the experience is a must-see for visitors to St. Petersburg.
In addition the owners support local schools and donate generously to them. We were so impressed, came back a second time with family.

Duncan, the owner should run for Mayor if he has not already done so. He greeted us at the front door with a radiant enthusiasm and inviting description of his fascinating gallery. The artists represented at the gallery are diverse and interesting.
As we talked further, Duncan described the evolution of the art districts in St Pete and even gave us helpful recommendations for dining and exploring other parts of the lovely city.

The glass works were phenomenal. Duncan McClellan was very hospitable and entertaining, regaling us with stories and even teaching us about mushrooms. They have a wonderful courtyard, which pre-COVID days was used for weddings and receptions. Beautiful. We brought lunch with us and had a wonderful picnic. Everyone was so friendly. I highly recommend visiting, and if you are so inclined buying some art

Beautiful gallery and gracious owners. A group of 15 of us arrived unannounced at the Duncan McClellan Gallery in South St. Petersburg, where we all live, and were treated to a wonderful tour and glass blowing demonstration by one of the artists and owners. Magnificent pieces, one of a kind art glass creations...more than we ever expected.

There is no admission charge to go and look but be careful, you will fall in love with many pieces if they have their usual inventory of both personal and guest items on display, and that could cost big $$$$'s but you will enjoy for a lifetime.
