St. Petersburg Jungle Prada Site History Tour

122 reviews
The Jungle Prada Site Tour explores the last 1,000 years of Florida history at one of most important historical landmarks in Tampa Bay. Jungle Prada was the site of a Tocobaga Indian village for over 600 years, and it is generally recognized as the 1528 landing place of Panfilo de Narvaez and Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca. Discover one the best-preserved American Indian mounds in all of Florida on this 75-minute guided historical walking adventure. We will escort you to the top of the private Anderson/Narvaez mound, a 900-foot-long, 25-foot-high shell midden. This family-owned property also boasts a 3-acre, Florida-friendly waterfront garden, a small museum with archaeological artifacts from the site, and dozens of free-roaming peacocks. The tour is full of fantastic story telling. It's an immersive historical and botanical experience that should not be missed. Reservations and facemasks are required. Tours are limited to a maximum of 10 people.

This is definitely my favorite park ever!   It’s filled with greens, flowers, orchids to be specific, a large walkway, volleyball and tennis courts, and so many benches and areas for you to walk or simply relax.  As I was walking around here I even saw a small family gather for their kids' wedding! I wish it was me :) So beautiful!!!

This is a great free park on the bay side of St. Pete. We came here on a Thursday afternoon and had no problem finding a parking spot. It took about 30 - 45 minutes to walk around the arboretum. The various types of palm were really cool to see. I never knew there were so many different kinds. After walking through the park, we continued along the shoreline for a longer walk. It's all a very beautiful area.and the arboretum is a highlight!

There is a bench in the shade near the main entrance. You have to want to find it. It is a place that allows a person to dream, to think, to rest, to pray, to be refreshed. That is, after all, what a park should be.

This is an open park with a walkway which is lined with various palm trees from all over Florida. It was interesting, but not what I was expecting, so I was a little bit disappointed. However, it is a nice little park, especially for walking. There is a pathway next to the ocean which allowed us to get a few water pictures.

We glided through the arboretum during our segway tour of St. Petersburg, and it was quite beautiful. This garden area is well maintained and the paved pathway passes under an arching palm canopy. Small sings show botanical information of each tree.
