I agree with the other reviews. My lessons were always rescheduled and after a certain period of time, the business would not return phone calls or emails. Since the deposit was done through PayPal....after 6 months, they will not return your money over a dispute.

Customer purchased a 3 hour lesson online and scheduled for 11-24-12. (2 years ago) I confirmed the purchase and her lesson date via email the day of purchase, and happy to provide the correspondences. Customer did not show up, nor call to reschedule the appointment, and now 2 years later, I get reported to Paypal for "Fraudulent use of her Paypal account", and as usual, this less-than-true review. First of all, no business owner has anyone else's Paypal or credit card info, which is WHY we use the service. Saying (and reporting) that I fraudulently used her card is accusing me of a crime, for something that is IMPOSSIBLE, is pretty low as a human in my book. I did not sacrifice ten years of my own life and water time teach kiteboarding to be wrongly accused of crimes, period. In addition, KTB has always had the most lenient lessons and refund policy in the USA- 1 full year to get your lesson done, and available nearly 365 days a year for you to complete that 3 hour task. Do not try to take your lack of effort out on me. So to the customer- Yes, you do have something in common with the other reviewers, you are not honest, have zero respect for others' time, and have no problem trying to destroy someone's credibility with lies. You folks are exactly why I closed my business and now just enjoying the sport, like everyone else.

I'm local. I received a gift certificate for $300 in lessons purchased from the proprietor of this company. After 5 months and 10 phone calls I had not be able to get a lesson and he had stopped returning my calls. In November I gave up and talked to another instructor on the beach at the Skyway kiteboarding area. Within 8 days he led me through a total of 3 training sessions. What a difference in professionalism!

My husband was really excited to try kiteboarding, so I purchased a gift certificate for him online. We called in the summer, but Steve told us the summer was not a good time--not enough wind. He recommended we call back in October. My husband has called and emailed several times, but has not gotten any response. We live in Tampa, so we are flexible as far as scheduling goes. Steve, please return our call so we can turn this into a five-star review!

I booked a basic lesson with Steve, he was quick to tell me that if I paid in full through PayPal it would guarantee the lesson, subject to weather conditions of course. So I paid $300, moved up to a hotel nearer to St Pete beach and waited. I phoned Steve to confirm i had paid, he informed me that he was out of town but that Brad would be taking the lesson and that he would phone me that evening to discuss times etc. I phoned many times over the next two days and got the same story but still no call from Brad. The day of the lesson arrived so I drove to the shop, it was closed. We went back later, the shop was open and I saw Shane who was very helpful and informed me that Steve didn't work there he just took bookings from people that came in the shop looking for lessons. Shane was very helpful and gave me the number of Brad. I called Brad, no answer. I called Steve, no answer. Eventually Brad returned my call and asked who I was as he had never heard of me. I gave him the story, he apologised and said he had spoken with Steve the previous night but my booking had not been mentioned, in any case there was no wind so I could not have the lesson anyway. I finally got a call from Steve who disagreed with my version of events but said he would refund my money in full, which to be fair he did. Despite the refund it left a bad feeling with me as I had changed all my vacation plans to be in St Pete beach when in the end I didn't need to be there. Whilst no-one can control the weather, communication should be within the grasp of anyone purporting to run a business!

I did my best to accommodate this customer on short notice, however, he was obviously confused from the very beginning, and was PROMPTLY refunded when I discovered that he had shown up at an unrelated shop Saturday morning to rant- a day before his scheduled lesson. He was also VERY well aware that I was out of town and had limited phone service. We do not give lessons in sub-par conditions, and if the weather doesn't cooperate, a refund is promptly issued.

Over Christmas break my family and I went down to St. Petersburg and I got the chance to take a lesson. It was a great experience and I learned a lot. He allowed me to use all of his new equipment even tho I had my own. He also stayed out on the beach and gave tips hours after the lesson time was up. Steve gave thorough instruction and was clear with instruction. I recommend Steve for kite boarding lessons of you are wanting the best instructions and experience.
