Ate outdoors on the veranda. Food all over under tables… Really?? Thought we were at McDonalds! Service was fine. Servers took no initiative to clean the place up. Very sad—it was like they kicked the food under the tables which accomplished nothing as the French fries were just mushed under our feet! Good menu.

This is the second time I stay in this hotel and nothing seems to have changed.
The conditions of the room are terrible with torn curtains, rusty doors and hairs in the bathroom sink.
I left the car at Valet Parking and returned me with the open sunroof and all my personnel things turned on the glove compartment.
I have never received any special treatment for being a special elite member of the Marriott Network.
Terrible hotel away from deserving the name Renaissance.

We enjoyed eating lunch at the golf course restaurant as guests at the Vinoy hotel twice.
Food was good to very good (1st time great but 2d not so much: see pics).
Lamb sliders & lamb flatbread are favourites.
Walked the grounds but typically snobby private club that clearly does not want hotel guests around.

We are not golfers, but If you are staying at the hotel, their shuttle can take you to the Golf Club for lunch or dinner at the restaurant overlooking the course. Even though the Thursday night prime rib special was just average, Michael Gordon the Clubhouse Restaurant Supervisor made us feel very special when he personally drove us back to the hotel with a huge chocolate chip cookie for my husband and me.

I have played here several times over the years and it never disappoints. The staff does and amazing job of taking care of the course.
The course can be hard but that is what makes it sooooo much fun. The greens were in great shape and the fairways were nice and lush. I forgot how nice it can be to play golf in FLA in the winter. I see why people move here.
I cant wait to play it again.

Beautiful rooms, friendly staff, outdoor areas, pool, lobby, and conference rooms are awesome. Beds are huge and comfy. Our room was in the historic side of the hotel and we loved it. Would definitely recommend to others. The meals prepared for the conference were delicious. The bartender at Alfresco, Monica, was friendly and very kind. Highly recommend the frozen drinks from Alfresco-they were delicious.

We don't live far, but needed a weekend getaway after a stress filled week and chose The Vinoy because it is a Marriott property, was close to the downtown restaurant area and was a full service resort. It is a beautiful property, laid out nicely, and did have really good service at the front desk. Room was nice, but not a great view. It was great being able to walk downtown and choose between a bunch of restaurants and then come back to the hotel and have a nightcap out front. We will definitely come back, but the breakfast was the only downfall. First, you couldn't have mimosas due to St Pete rules about no alcohol Sunday am, buffet was $45 or so a person (I am tiny and eat clean, so makes NO sense for me), it was difficult getting seated and a waitress treated us like we were not going to sit down because we had no reservation. It's a huge room and was empty. Not a good experience for Platinum Elite member. But, we will come again, just know to eat breakfast off property.

Thanks for choosing The Vinoy to take a "staycation". It was a pleasure to know that you enjoyed your stay overall including the beauty of our resort, the good service at the front desk, the nice room and the prime location of our resort. As you mentioned, we are right in the middle of everything from museums, to beautiful walking/running paths with incredible scenery, restaurants, boutique shops, breweries, etc. And within the resort are amenities that are worth checking out including tennis, golfing a mile away at our golf course, the Vinoy Salon and Day Spa for your pampering, and a variety of restaurants and bars to enjoy. While I can assure you that your breakfast experience was an isolated one, I do apologize that we let you down. I have shared with our team to keep our focus on great customer service at all times. I would encourage you to return again to experience the true Vinoy hospitality. Feel free to reach out to me directly. Thank you again for your feedback.

We may have caught the resort on an off day, as a large convention appeared to be ending. We had stayed at the Vinoy a few years ago and were not thrilled, but the building is so lovely and the location is so good, we decided to give it another shot. This time, however, the service was really terrible, especially at this price point in St. Petersburg ($500+ per night for a superior room). When we arrived no one offered to help with our luggage though my husband has a disability; despite calling ahead to tell the hotel we had to dress for an event and needed the room by 4 pm, it wasn't ready; we sat in the crowded, noisy, hot lobby with our luggage waiting for almost an hour; finally the clerk referred me to the health club to dress (a long walk, not private, still no help with luggage). The room was okay and fairly large but design was very standardized and a bit shabby in places--more like a 3 star convention hotel than a resort. My recommendation would be to come here for breakfast or a drink (the food wasn't fabulous either and we thought over-priced for the quality) and walk around to see the grounds and history, but stay somewhere else.

On behalf of our team here at The Vinoy, I appreciate your time in sharing your feedback. It is a shame that you didn't experience the true Vinoy hospitality that we are known for, however, any and all feedback that we receive is very important to us. We certainly take each comment seriously and use it as a tool to focus where we may need to. Please accept my apology, but because I know we are better than what you described, I would encourage you to return. It sounds like Murphy's Law was in play here for you. Our goal is to take care of our guests, and I hope you will allow us to show you why we receive so many compliments. It would be great to have the opportunity to regain your confidence. Feel free to reach out to me if I can be of assistance. Thank you again.

The early 20th century hotel was nice to visit, but I wished they had not "updated" it and tried to give it a modern twist. Why in the world would one want to change something beautiful and historic? Preservation is key. They did have a nice Chihuly art piece prominently displayed at the front lobby. But, I think they could have done that but left more of the original items intact. Or made replicas of the originals if it was necessary.

Thanks for joining us at The Vinoy Renaissance Resort and Golf Club. We certainly appreciate you taking the time to write a review. We like to call ourselves "historically hip" with a true passion and respect for our legendary history and an excitement looking forward. Our design blends the past with the future. While we certainly appreciate your opinion, we have also had many guests and locals who absolutely love to be here and "take it all in". We have guests who stop in daily to venture throughout the resort to enjoy the scenery including the Chihuly Chandelier in our Grand Ballroom and the beautiful Dale Chihuly artwork pieces in our lobby. We are so proud of our history and all that it means to us here - the Grande Dame lives on. I encourage you to please come and visit us again soon. Perhaps another look will change your mind. :)

I played several rounds at the club and loved every minute. The course is fantastic, challenging and beautifully maintained. The staff were incredible from the time that you entered the grounds until you left! they took care of everything that you needed and ensured maximum enjoyment of your golf experience here. Even the clothing was priced reasonably so you could easily purchase an article to remind you of your golf experience at the Vinoy Golf Club. I would absolutely recommend any golfer visiting the area play a round at this club!

Is there a separate swimming pool at the golf course vs the hotel? If so, can the wife use the pool when the husband is golfing?
Written March 13, 2019
Good Morning - we do have a pool at the resort and at the golf club. We welcome resort guests and Vinoy Club Members to use the facilities. Thanks for asking, and please enjoy!

Are there any golf deals for the Vinroy course? We are staying in the Renaissance for two weeks and we’re expect to play golf most days

Yes they do. The food is very good. The guys I was with had the burger special, but I couldn't resist the seafood, being in FL and all. The hotel is my favorite meeting site, and I hope to be back there this year.
