About
Explore 1,000 years of Florida history on the Jungle Prada Tour. This is a guided walking tour of a historic landmark in St. Petersburg, Florida. The Jungle Prada Site was part of an American Indian village from 1,000 CE until 1,600 CE. You'll learn about the lives of the Tocobaga people at one of the best-preserved shell mounds in Florida. The Jungle Prada Site is generally recognized as the landing place of the 1528 Narváez Expedition. The survivors, led by Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca, walked from Florida all the way to the Pacific Ocean over eight years (1528 - 1536)! You'll encounter free-roaming peacocks that have lived at the Jungle Prada Site for decades. Come and discover a side of St. Pete that you never knew existed! Safety Statement: Due to the historic nature of the property some surfaces are uneven. Please watch your step and use caution on the paths. Other potential risks include all those that naturally arise from walking through heavily wooded or natural areas.

We really enjoyed this tour. David was very knowledgeable and you could tell he was passionate about the area and preserving the history. He grew up in a house on the property and is a third-generation conservationist. We met his parents and heard about his grandparents who were ahead of their time when it came to preserving the land and its history. I would also recommend it if you have children as we had one child on the tour and he took the time to answer her questions and point things out to her.

We are locals who enjoyed the walking tour of the Indian burial Grounds . Our tour guide was most informative about the local history and folklore surrounding the sacred site. We were delighted watching the peacocks and peahens strutting their colorful plumage around the property. I would highly recommend that you bring along the entire Family. The entire property and the Indian relics are a great hidden gem in our own backyard!

Wonderfully informative tour of the Native American site on the shores of Boca Ciega. David is an engaging and charming guide who told the history of the site with great expertise and passion. He also made sure to learn the names of all the participants! Beautiful gardens and adorable peacocks and peahens to boot. Don’t miss it!

I took the sacred lands jungle Prada tour. There’s so much history here from the natives to the Spanish to the homesteaders. A wonderful look into the past and our guide was great, he’s even a descendent of the property owners. So cool to see pristine Indian mounds covered in artifacts, and rare these days. Also the peacocks were awesome.

I highly recommend this tour of the Indian mound. Our guide, David, had a wealth of knowledge ranging from the many plants on the property to the Spanish attempt at colonization and the native inhabitants. If you love history, you will enjoy this tour.

My 84 year old Mom and I went on the tour and it was great. Lots of opportunities to take pictures of the peacocks. David shared lots of stories about how Jungle Prada came to be. Easy pace for those with mobility concerns. Can’t recommend enough.
