This was a lot of fun - interesting and well done educational materials, an easy (and free) walk along a boardwalk to a lookout tower over the lake, with mom, pop and baby alligators along the way, and lots of turtles, birds, and fish to see. It was shady and peaceful, and there were covered benches strategically positioned along the... More

We were hanging out in St Petersburg waiting to join family the next day down at Holmes Beach. We were staying not too far from this park - what a gem! We spent a few hours walking around the various elevated walkways, enjoying the vegetation and wildlife. We encountered several friendly groups that made the morning even more pleasurable. There... A piece of natural Florida that is close to the highway and free to the public, why wouldn't you go?! Pull into parking lot and find ample parking, clean bathrooms and picnic areas. I would suggest using the bathroom when you arrive, it is convenient to the parking lot only. There is a mile-long wooden overpass to take you over... More

Loved this little park. Great boardwalk allows you to safely look for alligators. We saw a mama alligator and about 30 babies. Very cool!

We love walking along trails glimpsing wildlife without fear of tripping over roots or dips in the trail. This is a beautiful boardwalk wide enough to walk side by side while enjoying natural foliage as well as birds, turtles, and alligators along the way......safely! The indoor display could use an update possibly with more information about the wildlife, otherwise Sawgrass... More

Entrance is through a quiet residential area. A hike that is long enough for break a sweat. Alligators can be seen but very few. The board walk is very nice.

We (3 adults and 2 5 year olds) got here at 9 on a Saturday and had the place to ourselves (with maybe a dozen older folks getting their morning walk in). We strolled across the first bridge to the observation tower. On the way we saw the mama gator and her clutch and several of her young gators from... More

So you are in the city and you do not have time to travel south to the Everglades, but you would like to see a little bit of "natural Florida." Try out Sawgrass Lake Park. It is hidden in the back of one of St. Pete's neighborhoods, near the highway (I-275) and you would never know its there. It is... More

My sons love Sawgrass Lake. The boardwalk trails are an easy walk even for the smallest adventurers, and they are wide enough for strollers. Gator spotting is out favorite actively. We were lucky enough to get a glimpse of over a dozen new babies on our last visit. Sunscreen and insect repellent are a must.

The boardwalks through the swamp were a treat. We saw baby alligators, turtles and many birds. Everything was clean and the trails were well marked. This park has so many opportunities for viewing wildlife!
