Sunset Sail Boat Cruise on St Pete’s
Scott the captain did a great job of making everyone fell welcome and safe while on his boat. Prior to departure he let us all know about the safety abroad his boat - the boat provided water & soft drinks ~ Guest can BYOB and bring snacks aboard.
One couple was enjoying Champagne & meat / cheese/ fruit
Worth the $50 for sure - Cheers

Did the sunset sail. Can't recall the workers' names but one is a full time employee at a hospital and the other is a British woman. The sail was great. They let us soak in the atmosphere and views & would chime in on occasion to point out interesting facts & sights. It was well worth $48. They could probably raise it $20/ticket and it'd still be worth it. We also saw a few dolphins

The sunset sail cruise was excellent. Capt. Glen and Richard did everything they could to make the trip even more enjoyable and memorable, including taking time to enjoy a dolphin show along the way.

We went on the dolphin tour today and we were having fun and was very excited to see some dolphins and the only thing we have seen in the water was pelicans and seaweed. they do state Our captains can confidently tell guests that they have a 99% chance of seeing dolphins from our vessels. Are they that good? Well, yes...but they also know the deck is stacked in their favor. Boca Ciega Bay and the greater Tampa Bay area is home to over 700 healthy identified dolphins! I am not sure where the dolphins went but were not on our tour. I cost my family of 8 425.00 to go out on the bay and NOTHING.
My nephew went into the cooler to pull out a soda and saw an orange soda and the captain snapped at him that only the water and Coke and diet coke is for us, he is only 12 yrs old. could have been handled another way...also we kept getting sarcastic remarks that goes something like" this is the real world and not SeaWorld so you may not see dolphins" especially when it came towards the end of the tour... it would have been cheaper to go to SeaWorld and we definitely would have seen dolphins.
I am very disappointed with the whole experience especially for the money we spent (we were a group of 8 people)

We took the sunset sailing boat tour.
Was supposed to last for 2 to 2.5hrs it only lasted for 1.5hrs. The boat sailed in the inter coastal channel with buildings on either side. It didn’t go out to the gulf. Sunset view was therefore obstructed by building rooftops.
The boat had 17 passengers sitting on front and back decks and in the cockpit on hard fiberglass. No cushions anywhere. Quite painful. There was no canvas top for protection from the sun whatsoever.

Thank you very much for your review on the sunset sail. At times when the weather conditions could be threating for the safety of our customers we will keep the trip in the bay , but the Capt. usually explains that prior to leaving the dock and I apologize if this did not happen.
As far as the seating we are certified to take over 28 guests but choose to only take around 20 on the 46ft. to 51ft. sailing yachts which has been deemed comfortable spacing of our guests.
We do not offer cushions for safety reasons on our vessels since the trip is not over 2.5 hours usually .
Again thank you so much for your prospective.

My first time on a sailboat was outstanding! The wind blowing across the boat kept it cool and the jib sail sometimes kept us in the shade (we sat towards the bow). The cruise around the intercostal waterway was more than expected. We enjoyed seeing the buildings, boats, bridges, birds and homes as we sailed around - dreaming of a life on the water as we attempted to get our sea legs.
After about 1-1/2 hours of this two hour tour we started seeing dolphins near the boat so the captain steered us towards them, every time we saw some he would turn the boat to get closer. Once a very large boat went by and a dolphin was jumping completely out of the water seeming to chase it.
You may think that the one application of sunscreen is enough but I highly recommend bringing more and applying it at least twice during the voyage. A wide brimmed hat is very handy. Boat shoes may not be needed but we did get splashed twice so you may want to skip socks with whatever your choice of footwear is.
They do have water and some soda but I’d ask them if they will have your preferred beverage before you board and, if not, take a short walk to the nearby store to get your choice as the boat had an ice cold cooler that they will put your drinks into, they even will bring you your own drinks when needed.
The crew did an amazing job at showing us all what this part of Florida has to offer on the water.

My family booked a boat tour to Shell Key for snorkeling for March 2021. This was booked through their website. I then followed up with a phone call in regards to some questions about face coverings. The woman on the phone was extremely rude. She told me that we would not be allowed on the boat. I explained to her that she is in direct violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. She told me too bad and also went on to tell me that my family member would not be allowed anywhere in Florida because it was the law to not service anyone not wearing a face covering. It is truly upsetting that people with disabilities are still being discriminated against in this day and age.

Dear Lori,
I am very sorry for any misunderstanding about wearing masks on our vessels. We must follow USCG mask wearing requirements for commercial vessels promoting Covid-19 Safety.
Please know we are very sensitive to disabilites and would encourage you to check out the SOS link (Soothe Our Souls Program ) on our web page to see how committed we are.
Should you reconsider we would welcome you and your family knowing your heatlh and saety will always be number one .

It was a beautiful evening for a sailing cruise. Captain Scott and Jackson did a great job of making everyone feel welcome and getting as much sailing in as possible. Saw a pod of dolphins at the triangle on the way out and back with some nice photo ops.

Our family was fortunate enough to be the only ones to book on the day we did (Christmas Eve day), so we had a private trip which definitely makes this review a little biased. Both the captain and first mate were incredibly nice, knowledgeable, and professional. They told us a lot about the bay, dolphins, and sailing. We saw tons of dolphins which came right up around the boat. We also actually sailed quite a bit of the trip without using the motor, which is rare for us. We've been on a handful of "sailing" trips and have barely actually sailed. I'd definitely recommend this company.

Captain Scott took us out on the Fantasea, a 46 foot sailboat. There were 10 guests on board with Captain Scott and Roy. All kept good distance, and of course the wind helped with safety during the coronavirus also. Scott gave us a lot of good history of Boca
Ciega Bay as we sailed to Pass a Grille to see the sunset. Dolphins surprised us, too. Great music provided, and waters and soda. Take this sail if you get a chance!!!

Is it rare to see dolphins on the sunset cruise? I normally prefer a sunset cruise and figure seeing a dolphin or two would be an added bonus. TIA
Written November 10, 2019
I don't think it is rare. We saw some when I went. The dolphins are generally in the area so it is definitely possible.

Hello, I am the Public Relations Manager for Dolphin Landings Charter Boat Center. The closest place to swim with dolphins is SeaWorld's Discovery Cove in Orlando, FL. Also, in the Florida Keys there several "swim with dolphins" experiences. Dolphin Landings specializes in dolphin watches on board sailing vessels. Hope this helps.
