Great tour
Sep 2020 • Couples
They do a nice job showing you the operation.
The office where you start the tour is an old Florida "cracker" house.

Nice morning walk as I traveled down from Ohio with my boxer Sophie. Good stop for a nice morning walk with lots of trees around the area.

This was such an interesting experience!

I really enjoyed this tour. It is in a van, so there is no walking involved. The windows are wide and the seats are comfy. Sister Bybee is a delightful and informed guide and had answers to all our questions and some we did not ask! In addition to seeing how this huge working cattle ranch is run, we had a visual experience with a ton of birds - egrets, roseate spoonbills, cormorants and wild turkeys...and an alligator. If you enjoy the outdoors and learning the history and workings of a huge ranch, make an appointment and come enjoy. Bonus- it is free!

Deseret Ranch
Nov 2018
I had always wanted to go there. It is free, it is a very diverse place .. a lot of cows over 42,500. It was very interesting how they manage that many and they get about 36,000 calves every year. You will learn a lot.
they also grow a lot of oranges and grapefruit. We were there a little over an hour.

and citrus groves,

Very interesting tour

We really enjoyed our tour of this amazing ranch. We saw loads of wildlife and the sisters were very knowledgeable about this place. This is definitely worth a visit and shows a different side of Orlando. The swimming hole was very enticing. Thank you for a memorable trip.

We had a great, informative tour of the ranch. Learned a great deal about the conservation efforts on the ranch. We were impressed with the size of the ranch as well as the variety of activities on the ranch!
And yes, it is free!

Great tour if you like earthy stuff (gardening, working with nature)

First, IT IS FREE! The tour was very informative. There wasn't a ton to see but the wealth of information we learned was astounding. A lot of organization and 'know how' in fields you wouldn't really think of go into making a successful ranch that is balanced with nature. Those who work with nature would appreciate the tour. For those who don't work with nature it may inspire you to or you just may learn some fun facts for the day. Either way it was a nice, relaxing tour that helps one to re-center, and reset after the hoopla of theme parks and bustling of tourists towns. We were there for almost 2 hours. Bring a snack/water, there isn't any food source (restaurants/stores) for about 15 miles. They do have mints and water there at the visitor's center. You should call for an appointment as they open the visitor center and do the tours as needed. Don't wait until the last minute to book a tour as you have to leave a message and they call you back.

Forgotten Florida
Jul 2016 • Family
This ranch is one of the largest single pieces of property in the state with miles and miles of undeveloped land. It has a free visitors' center and even a free bus tour of a portion of the ranch. If you want to see alligators you'll likely see some on the bus tour as well as other wildlife.

You will also witness diverse areas in which the ranch operates in addition to beef cattle such as citrus, mining, and environmental conservation. It is interesting how profoundly the operations on the ranch impact our lives, yet many people who have lived in the area for years are unaware of its existence.

Once reaching the ranch it takes about 20 - 30 minutes to reach the visitors' center. The tour and center require about an hour.
