Great Fishing Pier. Wide variety of fish caught. Just inside the St Augustine inlet so ocean fish come around the pier. Nice view of St Augustine across the bay. Very scenic area. We saw porpoise, sea turtles, schools of fish & lots of pelicans and other seabirds. Covered benches are nice. Fish cleaning tables have running water. Well lit for night time. No admission fee! Open 24/7

Had a fun time fishing and spotting dolphins.A few "regulars" were very disrespectful. The group of 6 or 7 has an unleashed white pit bull,a few were smoking weed, some used foul language and others running up and down pier to their unmanned fishing poles.A game warden patrolled but nothing was said.

A lot of fishermen on the pier, but it was still a cool place to visit. I like that you can go down to the floating dock as well

This is a very nice pier which is part of the old bridge that has been converted. There are several Covers on the pier for shade. Some have Swinging benches. Fishing is great at times. I've caught flounder, blue fish, whiting, red drum, black drum, snapper and much more. Wonderful atmosphere with great view of St. Augustine and the new Vilano Bridge. Best Part - No Charge. This is a free pier.

Saw lots of locals fishing here, including mullet men pulling in big ones. Nice view. Worth seeing if you are staying nearby or eating at the terrific Beaches restaurant next door. Not worth a special trip — although views are terrific from the bridge from St. Augustine to Vilano Beach if you’re up for a good walk, run, or bike ride.

I've been on a lot of fishing piers and the Vilano Pier is the filthiest pier I have ever experienced.
Apparently the city hadn't touched it since the bridge closed. If it wasn't for an occasional rain, you might expect contracting some flesh eating bacteria there.
The City of Vilano should be ashamed to allow a public place to become so filthy.

Beautiful place at sunset. Good place to unwind. I would recommend coming here in the evenings to relax. I really liked it, and will return.

You can buy a 7 day fishing license, or a one year which is only $47.00. I Have been to this pier for 5 years and I still catch something different every time. From a ray, blue, flounder, shark just to mention a few.

The pier was only a 5 minute walk from our hotel. It is a great place to view the activity on the water. We walk to it every night to see the sunset. Beaches right next door is a good place to eat with a beach atmosphere. Definitely worth the walk. Finding a place to park can be difficult with Beaches restaurant next to it.

How far is this from marker 8 hotel and marina
Thinking of booking a night of lights cruise but can’t find out if it’s near the hotel
Thanks in advance

Can you sleep at a condo within walking distance of the pier? Is it safe to swim near the pier? Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Swimming I don’t think so. It’s kind of a drop off. There are hotels in the area, but not sure if any are close enough to walk. But it is nice to drive to and walk around, get some of the ocean air, grab a bite to eat etc.

Just drove by it. Didn’t stop to fish. I’ve heard good fishing there though. Just haven’t gone myself.
