When I envision creating my own business/ restaurant, there are certain things I would try to do in order to make my venture as successful as possible. The Ice Plant has followed this business model without even knowing it, and done so remarkably well.
Step 1: Use a historical, well known location to set up shop, slightly away from the main crowds, but close enough to be accessible. In this case, a beautiful upstairs loft of one of the first and largest ice plants in Florida. Equipped with high ceilings and large windows, the natural lighting is breathtaking. The floor plan is large enough to accommodate 2 bars, one to the front, as the drinking area, and one in the back for the dining area, both resided over by expert bartenders.
Step 2: Use items from local businesses/farms etc. in your menu/products. The Ice Plant uses alcoholic beverages from the on location St Augustine Distillery to craft some of their amazing signature cocktails. And they also have a great Happy Hour drink menu.
Step 3: Provide a small group of services, but provide them exceptionally. In this case, the Ice Plant has a one page menu with appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Even though the list is small, the offerings are quite mighty. We had a party of 10 and everyone was able to find something they wanted and thoroughly enjoyed. Everything was incredibly delicious, and perfectly prepared.
That's enough talk for now. I'll let the photos do the rest of the work. If any of you decide to use my business plan, I expect you to be honorable, and send me consultation fees 😁😁

The owners have spent an incredible amount of time restoring this space, utilizing materials from the same era. It’s an amazing industrial space that has been crafted into a unique place to have a cocktail or dine. We didn’t have an opportunity to eat, but our neighbors at the bar said everything they had was very good. John, our bartender, was friendly and made some delicious cocktails. Try the Blue Velvet or Whiskey Sour - and be sure to watch him make them! Not inexpensive, but worth it for the experience.

The Ice Plant far exceeded my expectations! Our first night ever in St Augustine is going to be hard to beat because our bartender/mixologist (John H.)set the bar pretty high! We had a couple of the craft cocktails on the menu then asked him to surprise us for another concoction and he did not disappoint. We opted to try a few of the appetizers instead of full meals. The mushroom beignets and shrimp ceviche were to die for. The fish dip was good, but the chips it came with kicked it up a notch. We will definitely be making a return trip! (Probably even again before we have to head back home)

We went to have drinks and possibly dinner. The two bartenders were so nice and made amazing drinks. Several female waitresses were very rude and short. We understand that things are different now, due to COVID-19, but their attitudes were not necessary. We put our names in for a table and were rudely told it would probably be an hour wait, and they questioned whether or not we really wanted a table. Within less than 10 mins we were seated at a table. We continued to be treated as though we did not belong.
We ordered two appetizers that were absolutely amazing. We considered staying for dinner because the food was so delicious, but the way we were looked at and treated by the female staff was not worth it.
My husband and I LOVED our drinks and cannot say thank you enough to the bartenders for being so accommodating and kind. The food was outstanding as well. I really wish we could have stayed for dinner, but it was not worth dealing with bithcy servers.

This restaurant was recommended by a friend who lives in St. Augustine. We did the hop-on/hop-off trolley and so we decided to have lunch here. It's a very cool space with a lot of history. The menu is quite limited and, unfortunately, neither my partner or I could find anything that sounded good. We did order as our friends had found something they wanted.

I definitely suggest you take a look at the menu in advance.

Went midday for drinks and a snack...not disappointed at all! Their craft cocktails are well worth the price....I’m partial to the Moscow Mules! Decided to have some fish spread and was wowed by both presentation and taste. One of our favorite places whenever we visit St Augustine!

Hands down the best meal I had in St. Augustine. The industrial chic decor was authentic since it really was an ice plant. From the moment we walked in, the greeting was warm and kind. The service was phenomenal! I believe it was Jake who was our server and everything was perfect. His attention to detail was amazing and nothing was a problem for him. I hope I remembered his name correctly since he was one of the best servers we've had anywhere. (note to self, write reviews quickly while you remember or keep receipts)

The food was chef inspired and top quality. The Minorcan seafood was amazing with flavors I've never experienced before. The chicken with hoe cakes, equally delicious, and the bar turned out some very unique and festive cocktails. I didn't dine at all the restaurants in the city, but we tried at least six others and The Ice Plant was the only one worthy of their ratings. Take that for what it's worth and go.

PS: Great parking and since it's right as you enter town, you can avoid the tourist traffic in the town center.

The Ice Plant Restaurant is attached to the St. Augustine Distillery. My best friend and I ate here before doing the free distillery tour (with samples!). The food and drink were so good! Very fresh, they make everything in-house. I had the chicken salad sandwich and my friend had the french toast. My friend said it was the best margarita she ever had!
Check them out! They are on the trolley tour.

This place is always busy, and for good reason. Outstanding food and drink, along with unique atmosphere, make this a MUST visit destination in St. Augustine. Be prepared to wait for a table, or sit at the bar if you can and watch the bartenders in action !

Food was excellent and filling. The drinks were great. Recommend taking the free distillery tour downstairs as well. Overall we enjoyed our meal. Servers were very good at taking care of all guests.
