BEST EVENING TOUR
Jun 2021
This was one of the BEST night time tours you will find in St. Augustine! This tour was engaging, entertaining, funny, and I learned quite a few things at the same time!
Our tour guide was awesome, and even gave time to answer questions.
This is hands down the best evening tour I have taken in St. Augustine, and I HIGHLY recommend.

Great Program-Quackery Evening Tour
Jun 2021
This evening tour was wonderfully presented highlighting the quackery of days past. It shows the darker side of the medical profession. Kim, the docent, is very funny & informative. This is a "must see" tour for history lovers and medical professionals!

16th Century Med School

The Spanish Military Hospital is a one of a kind museum and located on one of the oldest streets in this country. Tours are about 1 hour long and the tour guides are amazing. This attraction is a must if visiting St. Augustine. Beware that this building is haunted by the spirit of Derek a dog who was the surgeons mascot and would watch the medical procedures thru the key holes. Jolly Chriss.

I dragged my husband to this tour because I have an interest in medicine. He was even impressed with how comprehensive and informative the tour was. Definitely go.

Great glimpse into history!
May 2021
SUPER informative tour. While some of the medical details are a bit stomach churning, the tour provides a great look into what life was like in the second Spanish period of St. Augustine. Our guide was very knowledgeable and able to answer our questions on topics beyond just the medical subject matter of the museum. Highly recommended.

Spanish Military Hospital Museum
Apr 2021
I went into this museum on a whim and I am so glad I did. It was quite awesome and way more interesting than I expected! The docent's presentation couldn't have been better. I highly recommend this museum, worth more than the admission price.

Good tour
Apr 2021
Nice tour. They had multiple antiques that were well presented on the first room that was self guided. Then we went inside to another room where our guide explained a little more about Spanish medicine and procedures (mostly amputations), after that we were taken to a third room where she explained more about herbs and how they were used( they even gave us a flyer with all the info) and then we were taken to the garden where they have samples of different herbs. After that is over and you exit thru the gift shop that in my opinion was a little outdated. We really enjoyed the tour, our guide was very knowledgable and nice but I feel that for the price I was expecting a little bit more. I still recommend it.

Informative tour
Apr 2021
Personally I enjoy tours that provide some type of history to them. This is one of them.
I expected a bit more, but it was quite informative. It is more like a lecture, you go from one room to another (two in total) and you are presented with lots of historical facts as well as a lecture in botanical healing practices. I enjoyed that part.
Last you are shows a garden with a few herbs that were mentioned in the lecture.
I recommend it if you have 30 minutes to kill.

Fairly entertaining if you or your kids like pirates
Mar 2021
This is not the most COVID-cautious excursion as there are lots of things to touch and it's rather crowded, but the presentation quality and content of each room were interesting. We found 11 out of the 12 "hidden" things in the scavenger hunt. Our kids enjoyed the cannon room and the movie props the most. They weren't as interested in the wealth of historical information, and after touring the Castillo that morning, were worn out from educational information. Visually, it's very enjoyable. I would say "Good"... slightly better than average but not quite "very good" if I had the option.

We are sorry that whatever attraction you went to you did not feel was COVID-19, but this was not us. We only have our 2 rooms for our surgical and apothecary demonstrations, along with our lobby for artifacts. We operate at only a 50% capacity, guests are safely spaced and seated during our demonstrations, and our rooms are sanitized between tours. We do not have a scavenger hunt, we do not have anything to do with pirates, guests are not allowed to touch the exhibits, and we do not have a cannon room. Next time you are in St Augustine we hope that you actually take our tour and review us in the correct location.
