Visited here recently on a LocalFlavor deal. Was surprised with the various animals; was expecting mostly alligators. The zoo has a few alligator shows throughout the day that are included with the ticket price. Only complaint I have about the show is that social distancing was not maintained, there were dozens of people all standing close to each other without masks. I might recommend that during the show, when people are packed in, masks be required for the time.
The zoo has a snack bar that is decently priced. Food came out fast.
Overall I spent a few hours here, and would definitely return. They had animals for every kind of animal lover, and I learned quite a bit.

There are so many gators, crocs, snakes, and other animals here! The park is surprisingly huge, and you could easily spend an entire day here. We got to view the noon feeding at the main lagoon gator area, and it was cool to see them jump out of the water for the rats. You are also able to buy pellets for a quarter to feed other gators as you walk around. It was very exciting to also see many spoonbills and other birds roosting in the trees. This is a great way to view nature safely!

I was surprised at the size of this place. From the outside, I expected a few ponds with alligators, and maybe a few display cases. But it is decent sized.
My favorite part was the swamp/Bird Rookery. This was the only place on our trip I saw any roseate spoonbills. They are not captive, but rather come back to have their chicks.
The crocodile exhibits were also very impressive. Most I had never seen before.
The food stand inside the park is kind of expensive, and it takes a while to get your food. It was pretty good, though!
We spent about two and a half hours total.

I begin a lot of my reviews with, "We've been coming to St. Augustine for years..." My son just turned 21 and we have been coming since he was 8. This year we made our second trip ever to the Alligator Farm and why? Because we wanted to see the birds. We have been here once before awhile ago, but now my wife and I have gotten more interested in photographing birds. This is the place to do that. The Rookery is really an amazing place. Make no mistake, this place is expensive at $27 per adult to get in but it was worth it for us and we got to see some beautiful birds and captured some remarkable images that would be 200 times for difficult to get in the wild. We saw roseate spoonbills, great egrets, tri-colored herons, wood storks, snowy egrets, and more. There are plenty of gators and lemurs and tortoises to see as well. The attraction also now includes a zip line and ropes-type course I don't remember being there before. Plenty to do. But if you like birds, bite the bullet on the entry fee and go.

First, we had not realized how many varieties of crocodiles and alligators existed. They manage to use every available inch here and is packed with information. There are some other exhibits mingled with the reptiles to keep it interesting. This experience isn’t going to entertain you unless you are willing to take the time to read the descriptions and make comparisons.
The birds are fascinating and beautiful. Overall, we enjoyed our visit.
This is a good stop for all ages. Teens can endure the amount of time it takes to go through the exhibits and still find something interesting. Lots of windows for the little guys and very few steps for those with mobility issues.

First visit here and glad we came by. I would recommend looking for coupons before going as it seemed a bit pricey still worth it without coupons.
So many varieties of alligators and crocodiles from throughout the world. Hundreds of nesting tropical birds throughout the exhibit especially in the long walkway that has hundreds of alligators and crocodiles . Super cool walk.
At the end of the walkway is an exit for Gomek a crocodile that lived there until its death. It was over 17 feet and is on exhibit. Huge creature.
Plenty of shade throughout the park. they have ziplines to try for a cost with one line going over a crocodile enclosure.
We also watched the feeding of a number of large alligators. Kind of a letdown as all the presenter did was throw some large pellets at a couple large alligators and talk about them. We were expecting a different type of feeding I guess.
Nic eight shop as well to visit. well worth the time and money.

We loved this place. My favorite was the swamp and rookery areas. They had over 350 alligators of all types plus a cassowary, snakes and many exotic birds. There was a nice play area for children plus a gift shop and snack bar. The alligator feeding was cool and the other shows were short but well done. The pink bird with platypus beak was so cool. This place has been around for about 125 years I think.

Yes, they have a lot of gators and croc’s but they have a lot more. Definitely worth the stop. The path runs a loop through the zoo and it takes a couple,of hours to see the whole thing, longer if you watch any of the shows or attend the feedings.

If you want to see alligators and crocodiles this is your place. I never knew there was so many different species of alligators and crocodiles. Check the weather before you go most of the park is outside with shade. We liked the quarter machines with "Gator" food you can toss into some of the exhibits. We were able to get our tickets in a package with Old Town Trolley (you just have to check with whoever your going to use to get around town with to see if they have a package deal. There are several different trolley companies to pick from. We have always used Old Town Trolley in every city they offer and have always had a great experience ). They also have several other animals as well. Over all a great experience

Alligator farm is a pretty cool place. I felt it was a little overpriced as it took only about an hour to get through and it was almost $100 for a family of four. Lots of animals to see, but again, unless you hang around for the feedings, not worth the price to visit.

Do they honor AZA reciprocity for members of out of state AZA zoos?

does this place have the the horrible "shows" with people putting their head, arms, etc. in the alligator mouths or is this more of a zoo intended for education and preservation? thanks!

Hello,
I am a photographer and am interested in visiting the Alligator Farm. My question is how accessible the animals and birds are to photograph....meaning would I be shooting through fences or other obstructions, or are they fairly out in the open? Also, what is the best time of year to come, or is there a best time? I'm mostly interested in birds rather than alligators.
Thanks,

The Alligator Farm is one of the best spots in Florida to photograph birds in a great habitat. If you are a serious photographer like I am you will want to buy the Photo Membership which allows you to arrive an hour before the public. It also permits you to stay for a couple of hours after the gates close. ($112.63). It is good for a year after your visit.

We are driving down the coast from North Myrtle Beach to St. Augustine in January. I see there is St. Augustine Alligator park and Alligator Adventure in North MB.
We only have time on the trip for one. Which one would you recommend? Or is there another place I'm missing altogether?
Thanks!

That St. Augustine Alligator Park must be a slightly different name for the St. Augustine Alligator Farm.

Does the facility sell the animals for slaughter for food and/or hides? I won’t take my family there if they do.

From their website:
Pricing:
Sepik River Course – $37.00*
Nile River Course – $67.00*
* * Buy online and save! Receive a $2 discount on each Crocodile Crossing ticket (both Sepik River and Nile River courses) when you purchase your tickets online. All other eligible discounts will be applied at attraction.
I would recommend booking online. When we went the line was long and there was a wait. They can get booked up for the day and then there is no time for you to zip line. They approximate the time needed.

If you purchase a membership, is there any reciprocity with other zoos or parks?
Thx.

Yes, most AZA facilities offer 50% discounts. Please call before you visit though.
