About
The north Florida natives-and ardent history buffs-at Escape U have put on a master class of mental challenges. Guests won't be wrestling with lofty philosophical ideals or the intricacies of physics, though. Instead, they'll have to bring together their investigative skills, logic muscles, and teamwork to solve a trio of St Augustine based escape rooms, each allowing just an hour to spare. In Escape U's third installment they present a masterclass of escape rooms. Not only is The Asylum the world’s first escape room specifically built to take advantage of inherent human logical weaknesses, but The Asylum is one of the most technologically advanced escape rooms ever built; this, combined with Escape U's talents for immersion, story telling, and puzzle design makes The Asylum one of the countries premier escape games.

We've gone twice now and these are the best escape rooms we found in Florida. We've done Save the Fleet and the Sneaky Snake Lounge. Puzzles are fantastic, theming is great, hosts are very friendly and most importantly attentive! Sneaky Snake Lounge is especially highly interactive (thank you, Ashle) and immersive without giving away spoilers. We'll be back for the Old Jail next time we are in Saint Augustine and any new escape rooms when they are available!

This was our second visit to Escape U in St Augustine, Fl. Both visits were very entertaining, challenging, and immersive. The first was the Asylum puzzle room where we had a fairly large group and completed a super multi-room puzzle. This most recent one was Save the Fleet and we struggled with just 2 of us doing it. Although we did not complete the puzzle, we enjoyed the experience and will likely have to do the puzzle over again just to satisfy my curiosity! The staff was professional and kind. Reserving a room on line was easy. The building is clean and the puzzles well done. This was our 12th escape game experience and Escape U is in favorites list.

Ashley made the whole experience SO fun. She was dedicated to her role and never broke character (even though we tried really hard to make her laugh). 10/10 Ashley thank you!

There were 4 of us in our party and we attempted to do Save the Fleet. The 4 of us have completed several escape rooms before in different locations and (with tips) were always able to escape. We felt that this room (rated 6/10 difficulty level by the company) should have been easier than it was. There were at least 5 (maybe 6) items in the first room that had to be unlocked. We all thought that was a big excessive, considering there were still 2 more rooms to get through.

Did we have fun? Yes, because it was an experience that we got to share in together. Would we go back or recommend it to anyone else we know? Unfortunately, no. Most people like to leave an escape room experience with a feeling of accomplishment. Sadly, we did not.

My wife and I were new to IRL escape rooms. We chose to "Save the Fleet" and failed miserably! But it really was a blast trying! It was definitely worth the money. We plan to return next week to try again!
The room featured an impressive reconstruction of the St. Augustine lighthouse and keeper's house under a starlit sky. Sound and lighting effects helped immerse us in the experience.
The story is based on true events but sprinkled with supernatural flair (and a few jump scares) to pay homage to the ghostly legends attributed to the lighthouse. Some puzzles were very challenging. If you dont remember how to open a combo lock from high school, you may want to brush up lol. Clues can be given if you get stuck.
The lobby, bathroom and game rooms were sparkling clean. The host was great. He was friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Only complaint: they didn't have the tshirt I wanted in a large. But I'll get one next time, after we successfully Save the Fleet!

Took 4 of us to this escape room in St Aug for the Save The Fleet game. The "guide" was super helpful and nice and got us started right on time. We loved the game and the help that was provided on demand. We had a blast and even my kid said this was the best escape room she has done out of many. Only reason I did not give this five stars is that when we "won" the game, our light and sound show for the giant lighthouse did not work, kinda deflating after figuring everything out. Must have just been a glitch but overall a great experience.

First Timer, lol we meet up with our nephew and his family. It was exciting and so much fun to have everyone work together to solve. WE ARE HOOKED! Big shout to REESE! He was so great with our family; we can be a loud & rowdy bunch. Wish your establishment was closer. A very clean, well-laid-out hunt (Old Jail) kept us guessing and running around the whole time, and we haven't stopped talking/sharing about our experience. Thanks for the memories "Reese"!

A mom with a 4, 6 and 8 year old took the challenge of saving the fleet today. It was our very first time trying an escape room and we required a tremendous amount of clues. The ghostly helpers were fantastic and patient with us. Difficulty of 6/10 was pretty challenging for first timers, but the scare factor of 4/10 made it hard for the little ones. Definitely think the scare factor would have been easier to manage with two adults. Mom and the 8 year old absolutely LOVED this adventure. Now that we somewhat understand the escape room concept, we are super excited to embark on future challenges!

I have dont two of their escape rooms once a few years ago and then once recently and I have to say I was disappointed overall.

Both times there were parts of the room that malfunctioned and there was miscommunication causing us to fail to escape even though we had plenty of time before getting stuck due to faulty setup.

The first game I played we got pretty good hints but after it was over it was found that the clue we were using failed to unlock due to a misplacement of another clue piece.

The second game there was a part that was painted red which we were told red means dont touch, but that was the clue that progressed us to the next step.

I am most disappointed in the "game master" who when we asked for a clue they gave us a clue to something we already had done, meaning they were not paying attention to where we were stuck. Then when I made it clear where we were stuck, they gave another clue that was 100% incorrect meaning that we sat there for the last two minutes with no help as when we asked for another clue they said the same clue even though we were obviously not stuck in that clue.

I am not sure I would recommend this place at this time which is sad because I was so happy to get back to escape rooms.

Bought ticket voucher in advance at the trolley stop to get a discount to Escape U. Because the code on the ticket did not work on the website (which they say is the easiest way to book in the endless loop on the phone when you call..) Speaking of calling I had to call to try to straighten this out. Good luck. You will not get through. These people do not pick up the phone. I left a message. They did not call back. We were nearby, so we drive out there. It was 3:30in the afternoon. The door was locked. In the middle of the workday on a Tuesday. Locked. In short, they suck. Don't waste your time money.
