Free boat ride

This is a small park but our family enjoyed the experience of the boat ride across the river and the history lesson that goes along with it. A nice morning adventure.

Such history here to see. National historic site. Worth every minute. You can walk throughout the entire fort and read the informative displays. There are often small demonstrations and cannon fire as well.

Don't miss this little piece of history, it might be smaller than the main castle in St. Augustine but it has plenty of history packed into it. Great way to spend a few hours and learn a little history of Florida.

A short boat ride to Fort Matanzas is a fun and informative trip. If you enjoy American history then this is worth the trip. It was constructed to stop the British from attacking St. Augustine from behind during the American Revolution (1775-1783). Enjoyed spending some time exploring the fort.

This is a fun hour of your day. The ferry leaves at the bottom of every hour starting at 9:30. It takes you over to the fort and brings you back 20 minutes or so later. This is well worth the free price tag.

Where can a family go these days to get a history lesson, a nature outing and a ferry ride for free? Ft. Matanzas! This National Park sits tucked quietly off of A1A near Marineland. However, unlike Marineland, it's not going to cost you a day's salary to visit. Plan on packing a picnic when you go and bring your sunscreen.... More

Everything was free. You travel by boat to the fort and the park rangers give you a presentation about the history of the fort. They are very knowledgeable and friendly. It is worth the stop if in the area and you can't beat the fact that it is free. You do have to climb a lot of steps to get... More

I loved coming here. It was not crowded and going to the fort was a wonderful minj adventure. You get to take a feery to the fort that leaves at every 30, 930, 1030, 1130 etc. There is a nice trail to take while you wait on the ferry. You vet a tour one the way and there.the view is... More

This is a free activity that the kids will like. We were on the first boat to Rattlesnake Island so our tour guide had to go ahead and check all of the rooms for snakes and she was SERIOUS! Make sure that you are in the first group to climb the ladder or you won't have time to see the... More
