Great place with good interpretive park staff. However the launch to get you to the fort is not operational due to storm damage. As usual, repairs are month away like May 2017.

this place is steeped in history, its the oldest european settlement in US, and has been under so many countries that it makes it very interesting. The streets are still olde style with bunch of restaurants.

Enjoy the short boat ride out to the fort, then explore the small fortification that was active at one time. Fun for the kids and adults

We walked the whole fort and found it to be very unique. It was very informative and has been well preserved. The views from the top of it was exceptional and well worth the climb up. If your over 62 you can buy a lifetime pass to all national parks for a one time fee of $10 and three of... More

We visited Fort Matanzas in late December. The boardwalk nature walk was easy and we especially enjoyed reading the interesting information posted at intervals along the boardwalk. The ferry was still not operating because of hurricane Matthew damage on the dock. Also, the boardwalk from the parking area to the waterfront was closed, but this was only a minor detour.... More

This park is low key and offers a boat ride across the river to the actual fort. The ranger gives a brief history summary as you enjoy the boat ride to the fort, we were then let out to see the fort on our own. Not much to the grounds but the history of the fort was interesting. This park... More
