I am so glad I braved the crowds and bought admission to the Castillo. This fort inspired me at every turn. Walking through the rooms and spaces really sparks the imagination. I love soaking in the sun, history, and patina of places like this!

Enjoyed visiting the sites in town, including Castillo de San Marcos. A historic site, so free for active military.

With so much history and beauty in St. Augustine, the fort stands out as a must see. The cannon firing and the historical speech leading up to it was our favorite part! The views on the coastline and inlet from upstairs were breathtaking!

The fort offers demonstrations of antique rifle and cannon firing several times during the day. I was there for the demonstration and found it interesting. The elevated area inside the fort walls provides a nice place from which to shoot pictures of the surrounding area.

The Castillo is a must see spot in St. Augustine. So much history and well marked with displays sharing the details. Enjoyed watching the cannon firing drill. Go early in day as crowds grow and the heat of the day could make it difficult. Parking in front busy so used parking garage at visitor center, a short walk.

This fort is over 340 years old. Reenactment of canon firing. Very interesting. Great for whole family.

Definitely worthwhile. Beautiful views from the fort and so much fascinating history. It really makes you marvel at the brilliance of the fort designers. Their tactical and technical skills, even without the advantages all of our modern technology, made us appreciate more than ever the historical richness of history. A must see! Try to arrive early, since the parking lot... More

This is a great site. You can follow the history of the Spanish colony in Florida. The fort is the only 17th century fort in the country. The fort is in good condition and each room explains about life in the fort and in the area. It is interesting to realize how the soldiers and citizens lived in this outpost... More

This is such a convenient attraction. We were able to start our tour, leave and walk over to downtown for lunch and then return to soak up more history . Very well done exhibits in the base of the fort covering it's history from beginning through 400+ years of occupation. The living history interpreters were awesome. We watched the musket... More
