About
This 80-acre tropical park is a favorite among boaters and those looking for a range of recreational activities. You can kayak, fish and snorkel in the clear waters of the surrounding Lake Worth Lagoon or simply enjoy a lazy beach day and picnic on one of the island’s guarded and unguarded swimming spots.
If you’re looking to stay overnight, the park has 17 campsites, but make your reservation well in advance as they’re very popular. While admission is free, you’ll have to pay for the water taxi from Palm Beach to reach the island.

- PatriciaInWisconsinDelafield, Wisconsin3 contributionsWe loved Peanut Island! Our visit to the island was the highlight of our vacation! Shuttle was easy. Island waters and beach are lovely. Crystal blue and lots of shallow nooks to lounge in the water. The snorkeling was perfect for our beginner family with elementary and teens kids. Nice paths around the island. Clean bathrooms. Lots of picnic tables and open space. We will definitely return if we travel in this area again.Visited February 2023Traveled with familyWritten February 9, 2023
- Joel137Delray Beach, Florida487 contributionsGreat Day at a Great SpotThe ferry ride of 10 minutes was fun and drops you onto this oasis in the middle of busy South Florida. Turquoise waters, calm and filled with fish to see as you snorkel. Pack a lunch, bring food and drink, chairs, umbrella and sunscreen and relax in the beautiful white sand. Explore the island or simply lay back, swim and relax. Great day!!! $18pp ferry tickets, worth it! Joel & Rosalie Delray Beach, FLVisited February 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten March 1, 2023
- Shannon1 contributionBeautiful place not beautiful service. The island is beautiful, but there was some trash unfortunately. The ferry was fast and convenient; although the captains on both the way in and way out were nice and friendly, the two girls speaking on both trips were grumpy and rude. The one girl even have a bracelet that had the F word all over it; my 9 year old pointed it out. If they want better tips, since she said over again how $20 pays the bills, I would recommend some customer service training.Visited May 2023Written May 9, 2023
- CassieWheeling, West Virginia60 contributionsFun but crowdedWe kayaked over to Peanut Island. I wouldn't recommend kayaking there if you are not experienced in kayaking. There is a lot of motor boats, jet skis, etc to share the water way with. The island was crazy busy but beautiful. We got lots of snorkeling in, seen lots of marine life, took a stroll, and laid out on the sand. Despite it being busy I recommend going.Visited June 2023Written August 3, 2023
- SuzeeQLEgg Harbor Township, New Jersey803 contributionsPreferably peanutBring plenty of sunscreen, food and water. The island has nothing but palm trees, sand, surf, birds and green lizards. Boats come in selling pizza and ice-cream. No chair or umbrella service. Snorkeling is good around the rocks and docks. Bring gear or rent before coming. Also you have to pay for a charter ferry or water taxi. The warm clear water was calm and inviting.Visited August 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten August 21, 2023
- midiala lMiami, Florida83 contributionsgreat beach timefantastic beach day. Snorkling is astronomical. Take your own food and beach gear. No restaurants or accomadation in the island. You can go on your boat or pay a boat ride over to the island from rivera beach.Visited July 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 23, 2023

Beautiful beautiful beautiful! But the Jellyfish were all over and they were no joke. The water was warm clear perfect..but the jellyfish and sea lice which is actually the larvae of the jellyfish were making it difficult to be in the water. The other thing is to avoid it during holiday weekends. We were in line for more than an hour and the girl is handwritting what she sold and hand calculating everything. A computer system to so it faster and effectively would make the process smoother.

Good: Generous picnic tables that are spread out under shaded areas, lots of trees with grills, good shades special in summer. Shelters and tables are first come per served. The water is shallow and calm, great with small kids and people who don't like waves. Love that there are restrooms and showers. I can't rate the snorkling part since we did not do that, however I didn't see any interesting thing to justify snorkling since the water is pretty clear, you can see what is under without going underwater.
CONS: sand is rocky with shells, especially by the shore, it is painful to walk barefoot, you need water shoes to protect your feet and comfortable to walk. Ferry was expensive, $14.38 for a very short round trip. It should be unlimited with that price. If you forgot something, want to go to the store for a quick trip, then go back you have to pay another $14.38. Like one of the reviewer said, the lady on the ticket booth was very rude, didn't get her name but I'm pretty sure we are referring to the same person.

Peanut Island was awsome. Great for family adventures. Its just a short ferry ride. Going out from Rivera marina only $12 bucks per person. You can take you beach wagon, beach chairs, umbrellas, food. NO alcohol. Awsome place to snorkle. Take your own snorkle because they do charge $20 bucks per snorkle. There is not food on the island no restaurant. There are bathroom and shower. There are picnic tables and barbeques. You must go early because its first come first serve. The water is crystal clear.

Beautiful little island that is easy to get to. Safe snorkeling. Not a lot of “riff raff” because folks have to pay to ferry over and there is no alcohol allowed ($12 per person ferry). Nice to stand in the water and watch the kids swim. Fun to watch huge private watercraft go by. Not much in the way of fish... kids saw a sting ray and jelly fish. Some really nice fish were under the dock, but they didn’t venture to the “snorkel area”. Still, a fun fairly inexpensive time for a family of 4.

The best day of our vacation. Peanut Island State Park is impeccably maintained with paved pathways and lots of picnic areas and ample shade. The water was clear with lots of colorful fish to see. The array rivals some of the best snorkeling we've done in the Caribbean. The Peanut Island Shuttle Boat was well worth the $12.

I visited the island and I had an horrible, bad, terrible experience. The girl with the her hair dyed like green or blue ish her name is Karina she said. She made us waste out time from enjoying the place two hours at the entrance, she was disrespectful. She was rude and disrespectful with my two younger daughters. She had an horrible attitude with us since the first moment. I would advice you guys to change your personal and make sure they are doing a right customer service, you need a personal that’s positive with the customers not negative and rude, we just wanted to enjoy the place and she made it impossible, she managed the situation unprofessional. However the younger worker was really sweet she wad just following Karina’s orders because she just didn’t want us to get to the isle. Very unprofessional.

We rented tandem kayaks from Get Wet water sports and took our 6 and 8 year old from the marina to Peanut Island. We are experienced paddlers, but if you know how to paddle a boat it’s a super easy 10-15 minute paddle to the island. We were glad we rented the kayaks and just went rather than pay more than double the price for the tour. We found a huge starfish and the water was crystal clear and if you bring goggles and hopefully a snorkel you can see lots of fish near the rocks not far from the beach. Highly recommend!!!

Incredible! Camped for 3 nights. Pristine sites with friendly staff. You have to bring all you need. No place to purchase anything on the island but that makes it all the more special. The water is indescribably beautiful. I recommend bringing your own snorkeling gear but you can rent at the marina.
Water spigots throughout the camp. A grill at each site. Only electric outlets are 1 double outlet in the pavillion and the restroom. Warm showers accessible only to campers with a passcode.
Large wheel barrels (barrows?) available are the office for transporting items from the ferry to and from your site. Campground office on the right (north) side of the campground.
You will not regret your decision to camp here!

Short water taxi ride or kayak trip to this fantastic little island. Pack a towel and dive mask and you'll have a great time. No restaurants so bring your own food and drink... no alcohol allowed. Has a walk path around the perimeter of the island and restroom facilities. Maintained by Palm Beach County parks Dept. Great way to spend a nice day!

A little beach island that one can get to by boat - can take a water taxi from Riviera Beach Marina Park. The parking is away from the main close lot and is free during the day $8 permit overnight. The water taxi is $12 round trip . You can camp there but you have to carry all your stuff onto the boat and off. You can use their wheelbarrow to move your stuff as well. They sell ice at the marina ( there are no stores there). Make sure you bring all your beach stuff and food and drink items. They have bathrooms there easy to access. There is also a boat that comes around where you can buy pizza. There are grills and picnic tables all around the island and a few scattered pavilions with overhead coverage - first come first served basis.

Riviera Beach Marina rents them. You can park there then go across to the Island. When you come back leave your car there and go to the restaurant on site, great food. Awesome way to spend a day❗️
