Definitely one of the best waterfalls in Norway. Worth to do a detour to see it. We came early in the morning, and there was no one else there.
You can climb to the top if you want to - but it's a 2 hour trip each way and you should be fit if you decide to do it

One of the greatest waterfalls in Norway in my opinion. Parking right by the road. You can hike up a path along the waterfall if you want. It seems like they let more water out in july. Cannot verify this, just my experience.

5th highest waterfall in Norway and it is impressive. You can hear it before you see it on road 134 and when you do its big. There is parking on both sides of the road with toilets, a small shop and picnic area. You can walk down to the base of the falls where it enter the fjord and cross under the road to view the cascades close up. Its very beautiful as well as impressive.

its a wonderful and beautiful waterfall stop, and its directly alongside the road.
The hikes around the mountainsides (where one could reach the top of the waterfall) were not part of our plan but they seem very attractive !!
Its a must visit waterfall if you are staying around the ODDA area..

This spectacular waterfall is the fifth highest waterfall in Norway (612meters - 2008 feet high and 205 feet wide) . CNN named in 2011 Langfoss to one of the world’s 10 most beautiful waterfall. The mountainside in the background turns bright green with new vegetation in the summer, providing a striking contrast to the whitewater of the falls and the charcoal-gray rocky outcroppings.
If you have 3 hours to spend here I will highly recommend the hiking trail to the top of the waterfall. See my attached photos and you will understand why!
The tour starts just east of Langfoss. On the right side of her mother mound opposite the picnic area is a path. This is followed up in the woods. The trail is clearly and mostly easy to follow. The tour runs steadily and evenly upward in forested terrain, with a sharp rise.
The highlight is after 1½ hour walk crossing the rock of the hill end of Langfossen. Here are the views just amazing! You look down the road where the tour started, and you look out over the bay. Furthermore you see the Folgefonna glacier in the background.
You need to bring with water and food and calculate 3 hours.

Norway has waterfalls everywhere. It was a standing joke in our car, "Look there's a waterfall." On our way from Haugesund to see the stave church in Roldal someone in the car said, "Look, there's a waterfall." This time we were awestruck. Had we known we might have made a special trip to see it. As a surprise along the road it reminded us again why exploring Norway is such an endlessly-rewarding activity.

I visited Langfoss waterfall on a cruise ship excursion from Haugesund and it was so worth the journey to get there. Apparently designated one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world by CNN, this waterfall cascades down the side of a mountain, falling under the road and emptying into the Akrafjorden.
We saw and admired the falls from three places...the viewing area at the base of the falls by the road, from the end of the fjord at Eljarvik Gard farm, and also from a boat trip on the fjord itself...the boat being by far the best way to see the whole falls in my opinion. The other way to see the falls is to hike up using the trail next to the falls, but we didn't have time to do that, and apparently you need to be fit.
The road at the base of the falls has parking areas, a small souvenir shop and snack shop and toilets, and you can use the stairs under the road to avoid causing any danger for passing traffic. The toilets were free to use, and although basic, served our needs.
The waterfall tumbles a height of over 600 metres running down the side of the mountain. In the sunlight it sparkled. We loved seeing the falls from the boat on the fjord as we were able to see it in full both from a distance (you don't see the whole falls that well from the road) and also from close-up, where we had a chance to sample water drawn straight from the falls.
It's well worth a visit - such a beautiful waterfall.

When we visited this waterfall we hiked up to a certain point where we had a magnificent view of the Åkrafjord. The hike started right next to the waterfall (on the left side, just after you cross the road from the car parking you should keep walking into the pine forest) and took us about 2 hours up and 1 down. The elevation was 600m, and the whole trip was approximately 6km long. I truly recommend it everyone with a reasonable fitness to do this trip if you are in the area, because the view is amazing. We were also in Preikestolen a few days before and in my opinion that is nothing compared to this trip. It is not crowded at all, and even if you have fear of heights you can enjoy the fjord while being comfortable, because you don't have to walk to the edge at all for the view :)

You don't have to go on the hike to take in the immenseness that is Langfoss. So you can do it the "American way" and just drive there, and walk to the waterfall. This will not give you as astonishing view of the fjords, but it's still spectacular.

Langfoss is close to Låtefossen, and thus does not get as much attention as its more famous neighbour. Langfoss is truly beautiful. Free but limited parking. Hike down to the river for a nice view. There is a display of rocks at the parking lot and area around to show how beautiful a rock can be. Well worth a visit, easy to combine with a (drive) trip to Låtefossen.
