    Cute place.
Stumbled into this park after checking out the nearby library. Cute gift shop in one of the building that I got some earrings at. There was a cache of decorated rocks that were just distributed so there were others wondering around seeking them out. There is a small comminity garden next to it. Nice little place. Not somewhere to plan a day visit around.

    Nice area by Library
Stopped by when visiting the nearby library. Very nice landscaping. it is good for a short walk or visit if nearby. Have been here on the weekend (not sure what day) and they had an outdoor set up with stands for crafts and fresh fruits, veggies, etc..Very well kept.

    Sunday Market
Visited the market held in this park last Sunday. The market was relaxed and easy going. No traffic or hustle and bustle to distract from great vendors, live music, and lots of shade to get out of the sun.

If you have some extra time (15-30 minutes) and are in the area, you can stop by here. Unfortunately, all the buildings were closed when we went, but we walked around and saw a beautiful orchid and other beautiful flowers. they do a nice job with the flowers/landscaping.

This is the perfect 'little Town' park. Sundays are set up with a farmer's market, antiques, plant sales, jewelry and more. I have been there with a photography class. Flowers everywhere. No body photographed the same flower or building, there is just so many specimens. Weekdays are perfect for a walking destination. Enjoy

The farmer's market has local vegetables and plants. There are a wide variety of other items including meats, kettle corn, jewelry and a food stand whose hot dogs are to great.

Three of us went to Punta Gorda on Sunday to visit the History Park. We did not know what to expect and were pleasantly surprised. From 9 a.m to 1 p.m. there is a farmer's market with some crafts and other items as well. At l p.m. the Art Gallery closes. At that time a tour of the 4 original buildings of Punta Gorda which were moved to this place for preservation, is offered by Capt. Louie Desguin. Also offered is a tour of the gardens and plants by Starr Zachritz. Both are natives and are very knowledgeable and passionate about their specialties. Starr took us around to see all the plants and even gave us a couple of samples to take home. Even though the shop was officially closed, she opened it for us, and we found a treasure trove of marvelous nature photographs done by Starr, as well as some of her original jewelry and other artistic pieces. Capt. Louie is and Starr are willing to take groups of at least 6-8 people on this tour at other times than Sunday at 1, by appointment. We plan to return with a group of friends because we believe that this is a small jewel which should not be overlooked! To arrange a historic tour, call Capt. Louie at 941-3800-6814, and for the gardens and art gallery, call Starr Zachritz at 941-391-4446. You won't be sorry! ($5 dollar donation per person)

When we were in this part of Florida in 2013 and 2014, we went to the farmers' market at the History Park as often as possible. What a treat for us northerners to be outside shopping for fresh produce in the midst of winter! It was nice to be able to see the various buildings at the Park and learn a bit about the history of Punta Gorda as well. In addition to the farmers' market, both years antique dealers had their wares for sale one of the Sundays at the Park and on the adjoining parking lot.

This is a great synopsis of some of Punta Gorda's past, with the founder, Isaac Trabue's office building (now a craft shop), a cigar workers cottage, when cigar making was an industry in Punta Gorda, additional historical homes and lovely gardens. One being a pineapple garden, which was another Punta Gorda commerce, but alas is no more. Every Sunday til 1 pm is a great Farmers Market with fresh produce, hand made food and craft items abound. Some planned evenings they have local musicians performing, such as Still Friends (Memories of Steve Blackwell).

The variety and freshness of the produce can't be beat! The people are extremely nice and the other vendors have some very nice items. The grounds are very pretty. I would recommend History Park to everyone!

I found a place where the body and mind can rest. A place to wander around many flowering plants, bushes, and trees that apparantly are taken care of by someone that loves them or maybe you can just sit and relax and observe the variety of birds from the great horned owls to the finch and a lot in between. one thing that makes this park special is those people who work there always have time to answer your questions. they are very helpful. This is an absolutely charming little park that stresses the history of Punta Gorda. It contains several cottages and gardens from Punta Gorda’s past. It is a quiet place to relax and take in the warm Florida sunshine. There is also a community garden. On Sunday’s the site is host to a very nice little Farmer’s Market. This is one of the many little places which make PG unique!

Cute little farmers market with a good variety. Worth the trip! Fruits and veggies and lunch options. There were some cute clothes and some soaps and oils.
