Interesting place with winding trails
Jan 2020
Trails wind through the oak hammock and can get confusing but the views and diversity are great. SOmetimes alligators wander in.

Greak park, love the trails, the trees and foremost the shadow
Oct 2018 • Couples
It's a mystery to me how come this park and all other great parks in Port St. Lucie are not more visited. Oak Hammock park is great, just perfect for a weekend morning stroll, dog walk, gathering your thoughts, relaxing, breathing fresh air, staying away from the humid Florida heat, etc. Lots of shadow and trails for a half an hour up to 1H walk. And there is water there too! Would recommend to anyone.

Found the Devils Tree! Easy to follow directions.
Jul 2018 • Couples
So, we had a bit of a hard time finding The Devils Tree, once we found it we realized it is only roughly 10 minutes from the parking lot and naturally the very last place we looked LOL. It could actually be less than 10 minutes, I have a disability and have to walk very slow. I imagine someone with average mobility can get to it in 5 minutes or so when taking the short, direct route.
Ok, so after you park your car, stand facing the front of the restrooms. To the right you will see the canal, walk towards the canal then follow it, you want your back facing the parking lot! Canal will be on your right hand side, wooded area will be on your left. After a few minutes, you will see a little stream to your left, KEEP WALKING ALONG THE CANAL, dont make a left and walk along the little stream, just keep going straight. In a few more minutes you will come across another trail on your left that goes into the wooded area. Follow that trail. Devils Tree will be on your left hand side after just a few minutes of being on that trail.
If you want to take THE LONG way to the tree (which is a very lovely trail) you will want to make a left when you pass the little stream. After you make a left and are following the little stream (stream will now be on your left hand side, wooded area will be on your right, canal will be behind you) you will find a trail on your right hand side. Take that trail, and at every fork veer right, its a loop. This will take you past the tree that many have mistaken for the Devils Tree, then eventually the actual Devils Tree. When taking the long route, the mistaken tree will be on your left, Devils Tree will be on your right and just a few minutes from where the trail ends (the end of this trail puts you back to the canal.)
When taking the short route, the Devil Tree will be on your left.
Hopefully this isnt too confusing, we had a very hard time finding simple instructions to get there, so I posted this in hopes it would help others find their way.
All the trails in this park are great, well cared for, not too long, not too short. Perfect for a nice little stroll.

Beautiful Quiet Park
Jul 2018 • Solo
Yes this park is a bit hard to find but, once you're there and park your car. It's a great place to get out and walk through the trails and have some piece and quiet. It even has a pavilion with picnic tables and a playground for kids to play. Hiking through the trails can be challenging if you're not paying attention where you're walking. Anyone who wants to see the massive 200 year old oak tree, after arriving at the park, walk along the river and take the second trail on your left. After visiting the tree, walk back the same way you came from to get back to the parking lot. Please be respectful to the history and legends behind the tree. DO NOT TOUCH or ATTEMPT to take a piece of bark of the tree. I was just there a couple weeks ago and you can feel the energy from the tree from the past events that has happened in the 70's. I've captured strange sounds in my EVP's. That's all I'm going to say. Remember, this park does close at dusk so be respectful and do not attempt to trespass and take videos or photos at night. The police patrol the area at night. If you just want to go somewhere quiet and don't live far away, I recommend on visiting this place during the day. The view of the lake from the trail is beautiful. Please spray yourself with bug repellant, lots of mosquitos in the trails.

My favorite quiet local park
Jun 2018 • Couples
I love to bring my dog here in the evening to walk along the canal. Also enjoyed the wooded trail within the park, but it's not for dogs. Also has a little playground with swings for the kids, and a pavilion with picnic tables for family events. There is also a boat ramp for the canal as well as several fishing stations along the canal, complete with tables and water for cleaning your catch!

It's and ok park-dogs allowed along the canal
Mar 2018 • Friends
Along the canal, not much but antiquate. Dogs are allowed along the canal only. Smal playground for kids, someone was having a birthday party and brought in a jumping blowup thing. Has a hiking trail. St Lucie overall has rather mediocre parks. Even fewer that allow dogs.

Hard to find, but worth it
Sep 2017 • Couples
Large natural area with variety of habitats. Hidden in a quiet residential area, fronts a substantial creek with a boat launch. Playground for the kiddies. There's a couple of nice hiking trails, with some wooded areas and some open areas. A drinking fountain would be nice. There is a local legend/mystery about the place, but no info is available on site.

Just a normal, average local park
Aug 2017 • Family
nothing to brag about this park, but a simple, normal neighborhood park to walk, jog...
Nicely situated in Port Saint Lucie where there's not too many crazy people to deal with. :)

Nice Walk on a Cool Day
Sep 2017 • Friends
Take a walk here at least once. It's like seeing Florida a hundred years ago, save for well cared for walking trails. They branch off all over the place, which makes it feel mysterious. Just don't pick a hot day cause you'll feel the heat. It's one of those must see places.

I love this park!
Apr 2017 • Friends
It's not the easiest to find but your navigation will take you right there. This is a great place for a covered walk, the trails themselves are not that long but you can just keep turning different ways to make it longer. Sometimes the sun is just too much out here, so this is a nice alternative. :) Be sure to cross the creek to make sure you are on the good side...LOL. The side with the parking lot is great too but shorter.
