11/10/2012 Update on the status of Vortex Spring ownership. The Dockerys...

11/10/2012 Update on the status of Vortex Spring ownership. The Dockerys are the owners of Vortex Spring and we plan on stay here for the foreseeable future. We are investing a great amount of money in cleaning up the water. So please come back and give us advice on how to make your stay more enjoyably.Dear all past and future visitors of Vortex Spring. My name is Connie Taylor and I was the manager at Vortex Spring 5 years ago when it was the amazing vacation spot you all remember. The resort was sold 5 years ago with great sadness by many involved in the upkeep of the property. The new owner has neglected the property so bad that it is going through a foreclosure sale on the 18th of October. There is a very high probability that the original owners the Dockerys will get the resort back. I am currently working at Vortex Spring trying to repair the damage that has been done. We have repaired the majority of the roads and are endeavoring in efforts to clean the water by removing the algae and under water weeds. I will keep you all up to date on the ownership after the 18th. Please don't write Vortex Spring off as a vacation spot just yet. The old management is back with a vengeance. Our staff is knowledgeable, friendly and ready to help any way possible. We are doing everything in our power to restore in to the treasure it once was. Thank you all.

Been a couple of years since I visited this place. Was in the area and decided to come and camp a couple of days. I notice the business has changed hands. Unfortunately I was very disappointed in what I seen. The campground upkeep was not as I remembered. The ground was cover with leaves and couldn't start a campfire until... More

We are kind of cruising around one by one spring and having fun. It is great place for family specially during the summer.

Just think of a country store on a property with a deep pond. The water is always 68 degrees but it is actually warm w/ a 5 mil suit. They have a number of picnic tables to leave your stuff while you dive. We got down to 53 feet but I'm sure you can go lower if you go in... More

Vortex Springs is an awesome spot for diving, swimming, etc. Whatever your water sport fancy, there is something for everyone. The dive spot is separated from where swimmers are. At the mouth of the cave, it's 45'. It's quite a beautiful little spot and was a great location for checkout dives. Having said that, if you aren't deep water or... More

Absolutely love the cold water springs! Great for kids of all ages . . . if they can stand the cold. Can't wait to try scuba diving there.

I must say this place is pretty cool, yet, I believe we lucked out big time by being the only people there that morning. No one else snorkeling or diving. This is cool because you can do both here. There are a lot of things around there to see and lots of cool fish large and small hanging out. So... More

So I have 2 teenage boys and a 4 year old little girl. They all had fun despite the weather cutting our day short. Remember, the water is COLD, so when it gets cloudy, it's not so refreshing. The boys won't care, and most of the people there were beginning to get pretty tipsy, I imagine most of them started... More

This one word sums up our experience. From the people there to the littered "spring" and seemingly homemade swings/jumps, it was all trash. I would advise you to not take a trip there.

Met with friends here for a day trip. It was lots of fun. Crowded, but clear cold water. Plenty of slides, platforms, a trapeeze style swing and a zip line to drop into the water from. Rooms and cabins were outdated, but looked clean. I would love to try the cave dive into the spring cave next time.
