11/10/2012 Update on the status of Vortex Spring ownership. The Dockerys...

11/10/2012 Update on the status of Vortex Spring ownership. The Dockerys are the owners of Vortex Spring and we plan on stay here for the foreseeable future. We are investing a great amount of money in cleaning up the water. So please come back and give us advice on how to make your stay more enjoyably.Dear all past and future visitors of Vortex Spring. My name is Connie Taylor and I was the manager at Vortex Spring 5 years ago when it was the amazing vacation spot you all remember. The resort was sold 5 years ago with great sadness by many involved in the upkeep of the property. The new owner has neglected the property so bad that it is going through a foreclosure sale on the 18th of October. There is a very high probability that the original owners the Dockerys will get the resort back. I am currently working at Vortex Spring trying to repair the damage that has been done. We have repaired the majority of the roads and are endeavoring in efforts to clean the water by removing the algae and under water weeds. I will keep you all up to date on the ownership after the 18th. Please don't write Vortex Spring off as a vacation spot just yet. The old management is back with a vengeance. Our staff is knowledgeable, friendly and ready to help any way possible. We are doing everything in our power to restore in to the treasure it once was. Thank you all.

It does cost to get in. I believe $6.00 per person. Beautiful area. Natural spring fed swimming/diving area. Gin clear water with numerous colorful and enormous Koi swimming in the large diving area. Beautiful camp sites. This is natural Florida. The swimming area gets a little crowded in the summer on weekends. But really nice get-a-way.

Redneck heaven. The scuba diving was great in the morning. Once the number of divers went up, the visibility went down. Saw a fresh water eel and other fishes. Good place to train new students. Lots of teens in the other areas. Can get busy. Well appointed general store with a great variety of scuba gear available.

The springs are have chilly waters during the summer. This feels very good when the temperatures are 95 plus outside. I enjoyed swimming around the springs, but wish I had brought my scuba equipment. Will do that next time.

This place is one of the most beautiful pieces of nature that I have ever seen unfortunately your chances of enjoying it have been ruined by the owner and staff allowing drugs to be used here out in the open. I know this to be the case because I watched their own employees doing drugs

I havnt been here in a long time, at least 5 years, and was excited to bring my 3 year old for her first time since I used to love it. Booked what they called a "new camp loop" that had electricity and water outside the gates. We get there at night to find out there is no bathrooms in... More

Our teenage sons love exploring Vortex Springs. They love the snorkeling opportunities, rope swings, platforms for jumping and diving, and cold refreshing water on a hot summer day. At different times there may be areas closed off if water has levels of bacteria or contaminants. This has happened to us on prior visits. The area has a dive shop where... More

Went on a hot summer weekday and loved it. Had some small waterslides that my 5 and 9 year old loved. Had a rope swing, diving board, and bigger slide that me and my adult friends had some great laughs on! Hung out from 11-6pm and there was shade under trees, picnic tables with umbrellas, and the 65 degree water... More

We are a little family of 4 and live in Destin so we love to get away to vortex for a completely different summer experience. We always have a blast and both my boys (3 and 13) love going. They have lots of slides, swings and docks to jump into the springs from. It isn't the Ritz for sure but... More

Did this in 1992....went back in 2016....very little has changed..still has concrete. Block house and bath. Like in the old days of the 60's when we all went camping this place would have been fine but really lacks the amenities now. Springs is fine and good visibility for check out dives and they have oxygen. Primitive but still ok....just don't... More
