The Edward Medard Park is tucked away in eastern Hillsborough County between Brandon and Plant City. The Park extends along 1,284 acres where a dike, control structure and reservoir offer some flood protection along the Alafia River. In 1972, under an agreement with the District, Hillsborough County developed this site as one of its largest and most popular regional parks, visited yearly by more than 400,000 people.

I was lucky enough to visit while the gators are in mating season , to see and hear the male calling the female . Then the area where the roots from the trees you can climb. Amazing park and great place to explore .

I don't think so you can spend dedicated time to visit this place, if you are passing by from there and you want to spend some time then its ok but not good for special visit

Used to be a nice place to go fishing but if you leave your vehicle too long the vultures will strip the rubber off windshield wipers and around your windows.

Price to enter is only $2.00 per automobile and you enter a very well maintained park with many trails, picnic areas, lake access, and jutting old mine scrapings that have live oak trees growing on them. Children playing everywhere. We saw alligators, turtles, fish, birds,...More

They allow people to cut in line to get camping sites then allow them to get 5 sites per family in which is wrong it should be one per camper and per person

We love to go to fish and play in the hills. Havent caught much lately but we have fun anyway. This park is fun with a boat or canoe.

This park has almost anything you'd want for an outdoorsy attraction. Find the area with the playground in the middle and rent the pavillion across from the hill of grand old oaks the kids (and adults, too!) can climb in and around. Lots of hiking...More

On the map on their website it shows rv camping and primitive camping, but elsewhere it says all sites have wter and electric. Also, it doesnt look like there is a restroom near the primitive area. Is it possible to tent camp at a site with water and electric, that is relatively close to the reatroom? I will have kids so plenty of nighttime walks I think. Are there showers as well?

I don't believe so regarding age. I have never fished or camped there. I can try and find out for you. Or check the Hillsborough County State Park website.
