Taking a sunset cruise with Pensacola Sailing Academy has been the highlight of our trip. Captain Bryce was so knowledgeable about the area and was an expert in sailing. We even got to see some dolphins! The information provided ahead of time was very helpful and made check-in easy. Will definitely be back!

Four of us were certified for basic keelboat training at Pensacola Sailing Academy and it was fabulous!
Chris, Alex and Darrin were super qualified sail instructors, and awesome folks that clearly love what they do!
We saw dolphins and the America’s Cup hydrofoil sailboat scream past us at 30 plus mph while we were out training which was a great bonus!
If you ever wanted to learn how to sail and sail safely I cannot recommend Pensacola Sailing Academy enough.

I was very impressed with Pensacola Sailing Academy - I wanted to expose my grandson to sailing - There safety first approach impressed me. Chris our instructor did an awesome job of introducing sailing to my grandson. We had a great sail. I would highly recommend this company and Chris

A great experience. My friends and I took the introductory sailing classes over three days and we thoroughly enjoyed all parts of the experience. We worked predominantly with Kathy and Captain Bryce. We received excellent, non-condescending instruction in a fun and safe environment. This is established group that gives great customer service.

My wife and I had been sailing for a while and we had years to consider the right place for finally earning our 103/104 certification for coastal cruising to take our dream to the next level. On multiple occasions, experienced sailors referred us to John in Lanier Sailing Academy in Pensacola, FL. We kept hearing that not all courses are created equal in quality of instruction and practical time on the water. There were cheaper options out there, and some that offered couples deals. In the end we went with LSA and my wife and I couldn't have been happier. More details...
Of the two of us, I'd always spent more time at the helm and it was important to us that she received enough instruction to master the fundamentals and ultimately pass the certification test. John is truly an amazing instructor, with an almost eerie awareness of everything happening aboard, while also ensuring that each student receives individual attention and passes each incremental step along the way. There were 4 total students, and everyone received ample time at each maneuver and position. To John's dismay, we even had the opportunity of kedging off after running aground ... twice ... can't always trust the charts ;). Good wind and a variety of weather and scenery made the trip feel like half vacation, half sailing school, but very busy for 5 full days.
Another plus for couples, the forward cabin of Spirited Adventure has its own head, which was a bonus for the queen's comfort & privacy amongst a crew of males. We had no idea what to expect from the experience, and I can say that my wife left with a tremendous sense of accomplishment and a new level of confidence handling a larger boat. Believe me, there's a real sense of pride when your wife successfully passes a test on diesel engine components :)
We both highly recommend John and Kathy at LSA Pensacola, and wish you luck pursuing your cruising dreams! We've just booked our first charter for later this year and couldn't be more excited.

We did two sails over a four day period. This family run business is top of the line. First and foremost the service is top notch, they are courteous and willing to answer all your questions. The sailboats that are available for rent are phenomenal and well maintained. I highly recommend you use them for rental purposes or to take their courses. Ed and myself can not thank you enough for making our two trips amazing.

My wife and I took the 101 Basic Keelboat course here. John and Kathy are a pleasure to work with and learn from. What we most enjoyed was the very affordable Bucaneers Boat Club that they operate. We spent the Fall of 2015 and Spring of 2016 in Pensacola, just to get use of their fleet of sailboats. We never once failed to get a boat in the over 20 times we used them. It does help to call ahead on weekends. Also, their young dockhand and instructor, Bryce, Captain Bliss, (really) is a positive, helpful, and knowledgeable addition to their team. The bay itself offers any level of sailing you want - just pick your days.

This company was very professional on the phone with reservations and in person with their friendliness. The captain was excellent in his skills to sail the boat. The views of the sunset were perfect. It was a great time all around.

BLUF: I simply cannot recommend the team at Pensacola Sailing Academy highly enough. Thanks to all!
I'm not typically one to write reviews, but I had to share how good my experience was with Pensacola Sailing Academy (formerly, "Lanier"). Even though I did my ASA 101 in another state, the PSA folks were willing and able to provide a "refresher" sail while I was on vacation to the Gulf Coast with my family. Braxton was thoughtful and responsive throughout scheduling on the phone (following up without a hitch several times on my many questions); Kathy was at the marina early, had the boat ready before I arrived (which is no surprise given her 20+ years in the business), and got me on the water fast; and my instructor, Bryce, was an absolute pro! Bryce was super-knowledgeable and systematic in approach; both patient and encouraging as we got my sailing muscles working again; and a lot of fun to sail with for a few hours! (Remember, Bryce, that you BETTER have the last words in any future arguments with your lady!! ...and those words should be, "Yes, dear.") ;-)
My only constructive criticism for PSA is to give your students/renters a bottle of water (or even two) rather than charge for it. Not a complaint! But I imagine that providing that comfort/safety essential for "free" will come back to you (in goodwill, at least) by orders of magnitude.
Look me up if you ever sail through San Francisco Bay. It would be my privilege to crew for any of you!
