Plaza de Luna, constructed on land significant to Pensacola's rich and diverse past, will be of interest to lovers of history. Reading the 5 plaques (yes, they correspond to the 5 flags) mounted under the life-size statue of Don Tristan de Luna, which was erected on the site of his landing, will bring to life the stories that are conveyed. Once on this sacred ground, it is worth staying to take in the views from the Plaza or from the adjacent fishing pier.
Parking can be a challenge on the cul-de-sac. If possible, leave your car elsewhere and take an easy stroll down South Palafox to access this special place.

Pensacola literally and figuratively started where this park is. Literally when the Spanish landed here in an unsuccessful attempt to establish America’s first settlement. And today, it is the origin of Pensacola’s Main Street. A statue and signs mark the landing. There’s a view of the Gulf and the ballpark across the water. There weren’t a lot of people here, but it was a cold and windy day and not representative.

Wonderful place to sit and watch the water. Take a sandwich or ice cream. So peaceful to just sit and watch the birds or boats. Usually nice and clean and quite. Love it.

End of the road on the bay. There is a water pad for the kids and fishing for the adults. Not sure of schedule but concerts in the summer. Also lots of restaurants within walking distance and the sunset is great.

This area used to be called Bayfront Auditorium to any old school Pcola's:-) Its now a public square, some call it Plaza de Luna too. Its very nice. You can fish off the bay, watch the huge ships come in at the port, have dinner at Jaco's, watch the sunset, feed the pelicans, let the kids cool off at the water jet fountains, eat lunch on the benches during your lunch break if you work downtown, go walking or jogging and sometimes during summer night they have free concerts out here. Very family friendly. I enjoy this spot a lot!

This is a nice place to simply sit and relax and watch the boats and look out over the bay. There is a water park for the children to play in as well, and lots of seating, but there are no shady areas, so if you go be sure to wear sunscreen. Parking is also a bit of a challenge as there are limited spaces. Bring a bag of popcorn and feed the numerous pigeons that tend to wander around. Probably a very nice place to sit and watch the sunset/sunrise.

IF you can find parking...it is a nice view. It is a small area shared by fishermen and the public. It could be better. Better views and parking near by.

While driving around exploring this area found this nice little park with great views. Locals were fishing, beautiful evening for a walk, several couples thought it was a nice romantic spot.

We like to sit on the benches and watch boats here after having lunch at Jaco's. There is a water feature for the kids to play in during hot weather, but there isn't a bathroom, or changing space.

Great place to visit. We saw people fishing, walking, kids playing in the fountains. Lots of eating places nearby.

We will be visiting in october for fall break. is the splash pad open during this time or just summer months?
Written April 24, 2017
Normally the splash pad was open from April to Oct. but as of yesterday the entire Plaza has changed. There is a ferry system to the Island now and this is where they load and unload. It has become a tourist hub so there goes my serene place to watch the sunset.
