Poignant reminder of those who have sacrificed their lives for our country. Slightly smaller that we thought it would be. There are no restroom facilities. Interestingly enough, there is a memorial to lost children across the street. Visit both in less than an hours time.

A half size replica of the Washington DC memorial. They have a kiosk to look up names of those servicemen on the memorial. There is also WW2 and Korea monuments in the same park

This is a spectacular park honoring all who have served in the armed forces. Clean and very lovely setting; the city should be proud to have such a treasure. Being a retired, career airman, I was truly humbled.

This is a well thought out and superbly laid out park. even though it right off a main through-fair it is peaceful, quite and tranquil park featuring many war & military monuments around a pond that is home to ducks and turtles. It is worth...More

This memorial is amazing, touching, and equal to any memorial in our nation's capital. The reading of names on the Vietnam memorial brought tears to those attending. The tributes to each branch of the military is beautiful. Finally, The tribute to the families of the...More

Fabulous memorial We had just been to Washington dc and this park was very similar but smaller and less walking. Especially loved the eagle with the steel beam from 911 towers.

Small park (took about an hour) but definitely worth the hot sun. Great statues and history. They have a Vietnam Wall which took up most of the time because I looked for my uncle. Loves the experience and its free!

How safe is Newark? (5 Replies)
Thanks for those who replied my previous post about going to the knicks game and being on time at the NJ liberty airport to leave back home in SoCal. My question is how safe is Newark? Especially at night? Because I'm going alone, I'm going to be in new york most of the time (and one time going to philly) for events and usually I won't get back to the Newark Penn Station (by traveling) until usually 12am-1am at the latest. and it's a 20 minute walk from where I'm staying. So I'll usually...More

If your going to be in New York Most of the time I would recommend staying in New York. I'm not sure of the excat area so I will avoid comment on the neighborhood.

Camping July 4th (5 Replies)
Hi guys, Was planning to be in Monterey for Independence Day and was wondering what would be my best option for 3 guys tent camping. We could be arriving late into town and was thinking the Veterans Memorial Park would be full by the time we arrived. Is this a worry and is there any other options for us? Cheers for any help on the matter.

Yes, you do need to be concerned about finding available tent camping in the Monterey area on Independence Day. It's virtually non-existent in that area, so anything that is there will likely be fully booked out.
