Talk about a stretch of sand! Choose to just sit on a bench overlooking the Gulf, take a walk on the Pier and watch people pull in big fish, sit at a table at one of the restaurants and have a glass of wine, or just lay on the white sand beach. This island has areas where you can be... More

This is an Island that the west end belongs to Escambia Countuy and as every beach on the Emerald Coast is pure white sand. The emerald Green water is what designates the area from Gulf Shores, AL east to Panama City, FL. If you are in lower Eastern USA this is a must see and swim location.

Totally unspoiled area a place to go to get away from the crowded beaches. The sand`s like powder plenty of parking areas along the road with boardwalks on to the beach.

If you are looking for white sandy beaches and blue green waters you will enjoy Santa Rosa Beach. A lot of of it is long stretches of secluded beach without all the condos and bars. You can walk for miles along the shores of the Gulf of Mexico and collect sea shells or just sit on the warm sugary white... More

We enjoyed the beaches on the island much more than the ones closer to Pensacola. There were no crowds and it was easier to walk along the edge of the water due to lack of the sand build up. Absolutely gorgeous.

I've been coming to Santa Rosa Island every year since the mid-1970s. It's a wonderful place to vacation but it can be crowded in the areas closest to the hotels. Here's where you need to go: head to the westernmost side of the island, within the Gulf Islands National Seashore area (Ft. Pickens). There's an admission fee, which discourages a... More

We stayed four nights here for the first time and were amazed at the beauty of the white sand beaches here! We also loved that you can experience the Gulf Islands National Seashore on both the east and the west sides of the island, giving you not only pristine beach access but the sense of what the area was like... This is one of the prettiest beaches you will ever see. From the spring time to late fall this is an enjoyable location to be. Pure, clean and enjoyable quartz sand to sink your feet into, like nothing you have ever felt... All that includes a fabulous Caribbean feel looking out into the blue/green clear warm water of the Gulf... More

This barrier island has been saved from over-development so there are many options for beaches on Gulf and inland water sides. Wonderful views from bridge access. Fast fact....site of 2nd Spanish settlement about 1632.

Pretty area, nice views, and little difficult to traverse the sand. Couple places were quiet, but we were in off season.
