Small Replica Fort
Feb 2020
This small replica fort illustrates what the advantages the original one had. It is informative and being built on the top of a hill it protected the town. It would be nice if there was parking for the fort, but then again it is free to enter.

Small but informative.

This replica of the fort sits on a small lot on the side of the north hill. It is easy to see the advantage it had sitting on the high ground overlooking Pensacola. No parking at the park but a small parking lots 1/2 block north of the fort. This an an okay place to see and only takes 20 minutes to see it all.

back to old Pensacola.

Not much to see but worth the walk. Down from the Confederate memorial and up from the Greek Orthodox church there is a lot of history to take in with a little effort and some thought you can take yourself back in time to the places that set the mood for this area.

Small historical site / Free admission
Nov 2017
Free admission

Open 24 hours a day

No parking. Visitors have to park on the street or across the street. The Fort is so small that my visit was only 10 minutes. So I parked on the side of the residential street.

Pet friendly

Quite

Two benches to sit , a trash can to throw trash or pet dropping’s

There is no wheelchair access. If a visitor is disabled or if a child stroller is used this historical site is not ideal

No public restroom available

Minimal walking

Small beautifully preserved old fort

Kids will love this area

If visitors don’t have a lot of time , this area is great for a quick look around.

Great experience

Old Site of - Not an actual Fort
Jul 2017
Fort George, when built was sitting on top of a high hill overlooking the town of Pensacola where it could fire down into the Bay of Pensacola to the south and also protect the town from any army that would enter from the North. Today it is a mere marker to commerate the site.

Very small fort, but had numerous plaques explaining what happened in the area. Park on a side street after the fort.

We came upon this site quite by accident, but it is, historically, very significant. The good signage, both on the street (Battle of Pensacola) and along the sides of the concrete enclosure tell the story of days gone by. The parking is non-existent, but we found a spot across the street. Take a few moments to explore, if you get the opportunity.

Important in the Battle of Pensacola

This small site with limited on-street parking played an important role in the history of Pensacola and Florida and the American Revolution. The fort is partially reconstructed and easily visible from the street and sidewalks. One can easily walk through the partial fort and read the interpretive signage.

Anyone interested in the American Revolution should visit this small, and almost invisible, historic site. Use the Internet to read more about the history of the Fort before you visit. You may have to walk about a block on sidewalks after parking because there is not a dedicated parking lot. But do go.
