This tour is based in Parkland in the middle of nowhere and several companies operate here. You should know before you go that they only have a port-a-John for a bathroom and it was disgusting and hadn’t been serviced in a long time. We had the legendary “Wild Lyle” as our guide and while he was a nice man who tried hard and really wanted you to enjoy his tour it was very, very hard to hear him. They practiced strict social distancing where everyone wore a mask and they limited the amount of people on the airboat so you weren’t sitting on top of each other which was great. If you are a true nature lover who loves all the detail regarding the wildlife then he is certainly the best guide for you. He pointed out the birds, trees and vegetation as well as where the alligators nests were and pointed out their trails where they had been. He also found us several good sized alligators to see and one who stayed by our boat close by for several minutes looking at us. And on the way back we saw many baby alligators swimming across the bow of our boat. But we didn’t venture very far on the boat or have many long rides because Lyle was constantly stopping the boat every few seconds to point something out. But he kept repeating the same things over and over of showing us a trail in the cat tails of where alligators had been. This got a little boring and repetitive after a while. If you have kids they probably want to ride further out into the Everglades and go fast and this tour might bore them. But if you are a nature loving adult this guy would be the best. I should also mention if you have the option you should sit near the rear of the boat if possible. We had to sit near the front and Lyle was in the back driving the boat. Almost every time he pointed out something by the time I turned around to see where he was pointing it was too late and I missed it. I mentioned that his voice did not carry well and it was very hard to hear him talking even when we constantly removed our soundproof headphones. What would solve this problem would be to give Lyle a microphone and Bluetooth his voice through the headphones. But what I really liked about this tour is they didn’t stuff you into a boat with 25 other people looking through a windshield so you couldn’t see anything. You had direct unobstructed views with minimal people on a small more private airboat that was a good value.

With friends in town during a pandemic we wanted to show them a safe activity outdoors. We had been to another airboat tour company in the past and wanted to experience a smaller, more personal tour than that of the other company. We are so glad we chose the Loxahatchee Tour with our excellent guide, Mark. We were able to get an up close and personal look at "The Big Kahuna" and cruising through the beautiful Everglades was fun for all. The experience, knowledge, and hospitality that we experienced was second to none. We were lucky to be able to see several gators in their natural habitat and learn more about the ecosystem of the Everglades. Our many questions were answered and great insight was given to this unique ecosystem. We were reminded about the need to protect the place that provides us with drinking water, protects from flooding and helps with pollution. If you are between this tour and the less expensive tour, I will highly recommend that you choose Loxahatchee Everglades Tour.

My husband and I took an airboat ride with Loxahatchee Everglades Airboat Tours this past weekend with Marc Thomas as our tour guide, and we had a very pleasant experience. We took an afternoon tour, as Marc had reached out to us earlier in the morning, and suggested rescheduling from the morning to the afternoon, when the weather would be warmer and more pleasant, as it was unusually cold for a south Florida winter morning. Marc was very knowledgeable with Everglades, with the history of the region and the wildlife that lives within, while pointing some of them out during our tour. The airboat ride was very comfortable and Marc made it a very memorable one, as he concerned himself with the comfort and the satisfaction of the guests on his airboat. I would highly recommend Loxahatchee Everglades Airboat Tours, and Marc as your tour guide.

Definitely not what we expected and definitely not worth the price of $65 a person! Yes it is an air boat, yes we did take a 50 minute ride around Sawgrass, yes we did see two baby alligators that’s scurried away and yes we did see 10 herons and 1 iguana. In my opinion the $130 spent for me and my wife was not very cost-effective nor entertaining. Guide was an older man who was nice, but for the $130 spent, I was UNDERWHELMED!

Our guide Lyle who was the company owner, was a bit surly in the beginning which had us all concerned, but once we were out in the glades he was extremely knowledgeable and softened up a good deal. The boat was older but functioned fine. This is a very basic air boat ride. You board from the banks of the water and there isn’t anything else around. I felt because of that it was a little on the pricey side.

Marc is a really knowledgeable guide and you will learn a lot about the animals, birds, and plants of the area. This experience was even better than I had expected. We saw many different species of birds including a variety of herons, ospreys and vultures soaring overhead, and quite a few gators including a ten-footer and a small one which still had stripes.

Reserve ahead of time on the website. There is no ticket office. The departure time is approximate- could be 15-20 minutes or so later than scheduled.

Thanks again Marc!

We went on a fabulous tour today! Online booking was super easy. Very impressed with our amazing tour guide / air boat captain! His knowledge of the Everglades and the entire Florida ecosystem was vast. He was able to carefully and safely show us various animals that we never would have seen without his knowledge. The alligators were definitely our favorite but there were also plenty of interesting birds and other wildlife. We felt safe the entire time. Tips: Go to the bathroom before arriving at location; when you arrive, look for a small sign and you’re at the right place!

My sister and I had a great morning tour. Our guide Mark was nice and was very knowledgeable about the Everglades. We saw a few large alligators and we were lucky to see a few baby gators in the long grass. I would recommend this tour .

After several air boat trips into the Everglades, it's true that my wife and I expected an informative afternoon ride. Research done on-line yielded terms like "crusty old bugger" and "curmudgeon" for our "Wild" Lyle (Thomas) tourmaster. (believe me when I tell you, I've had the misfortune of dealing with NYC IRS Agents that are "nicer" that this guy!) "Tour leaves promptly at 1PM", so at 1:20PM "Wild" Lyle arrives in the hot South Florida sun, no-apologies, no-excuses....no problem (?) Hey, we've all gotten used to paying more, expecting less! $40/40 min. Fair price. Precious little "eco" information was given by "Wild" Lyle. Not even an "honorable-mention" of the "eagle" not seen on this "Eagle" tour either, hmmmmmm(?) "35 years of Everglades experience" (I will admit he does know his gators) perhaps just a bad day in the hot sun for our "crusty old bugger", but I think not. "Any questions can be e-mailed for a reply..." usually by his fifteen y/o twins who "know everything". Admittedly Mr. Thomas "can't possibly answer all 300 daily messages/questions". Well "Wild" Lyle, perhaps "the twins" should do the tour then! The eighteen paying customers deserved more on this 35min. (including loading/unloading) tour, but like I said previously, we've all learned to accept less and be grateful. Please allow me to include terms like "ornery" "rude" and "angry" to the middle-aged tourmaster's seasoned reputation. Better rides, from courteous guides, with more information to share can be found in the area for the same $$. Go there.
