- hbhakhRoanoke, Virginia2,266 contributionsNice beachPanama City Beach is a very nice, white sand beach with clear, warm water. The seas are fairly calm so it's easy to enjoy the water. The area itself is pretty congested with hotels/restaurants/bars. We were there mid week in late September so it wasn't too bad. I would think that crowds would be an issue at busier times.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 28, 2023
- Lisa B19 contributionsPanama City Florida in the winter has plenty to do.This is their offseason in January. There was still plenty to do. There were so many good restaurants that we went to. Neons had a roaring '20s party one night which was so much fun. We got dressed up and they had a live band and great food. They also had their Mardi Gras celebration at Pier Park. They had the street blocked off and had a parade and live bands. It was like a mini Mardi Gras. So much fun. They have a state park there on the Gulf or you can walk along the beach. The water is very tropical looking and plenty of beach to walk on. The town was hit by a tropical winter storm and you could see some of the damage but many places are open and in full swing. I will go back.Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 1, 2024
- Navigate267269395523 contributionsLiked but did not LoveWe loved the balcony overlooking the ocean and beach. Our Room was spacious, probably because it was handicap accessible. While well maintained, parts of this hotel are showing their age. The bathroom had an older plastic tub rather than walk-in shower. One of the mattresses (we had two queen beds) seemed to lean along the side near the nightstand, presumably because hundreds of people have sat on the edge of the bed there. The mattress was still pretty comfortable, but I had to roll up hill to get to the center. The first floor of the hotel is beautiful and the pool/patio area is very nice. Breakfast was terrific and Cheryl (staff) was friendly and efficient. There's a bar, which was a nice touch, but it closed very early so no nightcap after a long day. Parking in the garage is convenient, but costs $20 per night.Visited February 2024Traveled with familyWritten February 28, 2024

Manatees down the beach, stingrays! Amazing. Our friend went parasailing from our area! Could walk to bars and restaurants! The strip was on the other side of our resort. We didn’t have to drive at all! But we did!Visited April 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten March 12, 2024

Anyone who thinks this place is halfway decent is an absolute moron. Everything closes HOURS before even the normal times of the same restaurants in other locations. No alcohol allowed on the beach during March to combat spring breakers. Complete pain to visit people in other resorts. Just horrible in every way. It’s like they’ve made a legitimate effort to stop people from coming. If you don’t want to welcome spring breakers, I get it. But this place is so void of any life or fun it doesn’t deserve the right to prohibit anyone. If you’re going to hold people back, at least be nice enough to make an argument for being for a certain class of people. This place isn’t near nice enough for them to judge anyone. Trashy, boring, just terrible. I will never under any circumstances be back in this city.

Panama City Beach is a very clean, long, sandy beach that you could walk forever in both directions. There are many beach access points along the front beach road. We stayed across the front beach road at Portside Resort so didn't have to find parking for the beach. The beach was never crowded because it was Feb...a cooler but sunny month. We got out of the "craziness" of spring break by leaving for home on March 1st. There were many large signs by the beach stating there was no alcohol allowed on the beach in March. I heard that this was to try to keep PCB a more family friendly beach than a college spring break beach. Maybe this is why so many bars along front beach road were closed and so dilapidated. We would return in Jan. or Feb. again to enjoy the area without the crowds and heat.

Our family consisting of 6 adults & two kiddos (a seven year old & 8 month old) spent Thanksgiving week on Panama City Beach. The beach is currently undergoing its fifth renourishment however the beaches behind our condo had already been completed and can only be described as fantastic. Wide, level soft white sand compliment the emerald clear waters of the Gulf Of Mexico. Lots of shells to look through as we took our daily walks. Spectacular sunsets as usual on “The World’s Most Beautiful Beaches”. We went shopping at Pier Park, played miniature golf, had lunch on Thanksgiving at Runaway Island, and enjoyed donuts from A’More. This is absolutely the best time of the year to visit. Tourists are gone & so is the traffic. Most restaurants and attractions are open. This is definitely our happy place!

Hadn't been in 30 years and loved it this time around. Crystal clear waters with no odor or pollution. Powder soft sands. Plenty of space to social distance. Easy access to parking and public showers and near piers, bathrooms as well. Ocean color is stunning and in the deeper waters, home to what looked like eels, fish, jellyfish, pelicans, etc. Shore is wide and waters don't run too deep near the shore, making it safe for people who don't know how to swim. No rip tides on this visit. Visitors can rent tubes, kayaks, umbrellas, and surfboards.
It's a 24-hour beach. People with flashlights comb the shores at night, and by morning, signs that patrol cars came by in the sands. A great family-friendly beach, as well as to just relax. A great range of lodging options for every budget.
A gust of wind blew my hat off the pier and into the Gulf. A wonderful fisherman sprang into action and rescued my hat with his fishing skills, without me asking! Taking this as a sign that the locals are gracious and kind.
Went just after Labor Day and found the respite I'd hoped for. Would not hesitate to recommend. Great for groups. Possibly not the best for solo travelers, though there are plenty of bars.

Spent 2 nights for midweek family getaway with total room, fees, taxes, resort charges of $565. Room and hotel was clean although most guests were not wearing masks or practicing social distancing. Hotel should be more forthright about the deafening daylong drilling and banging construction noise immediately adjacent to pool. It creates a very jarring non-relaxing pool deck and room balcony experience and also unattractive view from room. Hot tub was lukewarm and mainly functioning as a kiddie pool. I got out after a mother with an infant got out of the hot tub and immediately changed the baby’s swim diaper on the deck. Sauna didn’t work but steam room and fitness area was very good with clean and adequate workout equipment. Staff were all helpful, courteous and helpful.

Gary & Dane McKenzie are total scammers. The book out this room knowing that it is dirty and the AC doesn’t work. When the HVAC guy came, he wouldn’t touch the unit because, in his words: “if I try to wash it, it will literally crumble”. They offered no compensation for having a hot room for a week, or that the shower was broken. But they sure did take $100 out of our deposit for a door that was supposedly broken, even though we never used it. Save your money and rent with someone else. This guys are slumlords and scammers.

My wife & I along with my daughter, her husband & their two kids(age 8 & 1 1/2) just spent Thanksgiving week on Panama City Beach. Best time of year to visit. Tourists are gone so… no traffic, no long waits at area restaurants & we practically had the beach to ourselves. The white soft sand beaches here are some of the best in America including Hawaii. The weather was good & the Gulf was crystal clear. We had a great time collecting shells with the Grandkids & of course the sunsets were spectacular. Highly recommend.

I haven’t been to Panama City Beach since spring break in college. I have to admit it didn’t live up to the memories. As an adult and after being to other beach resorts it was just okay. Restaurants within walking distance of the Emerald Beach Resort were either overpriced or you feared you’d become ill. Rooms were decent but misleading. Thought we had a second bedroom but no the bunk beds were built into the hallway wall. Hadn’t seen that before. Not much shopping to walk to and traffic was insane so that you didn’t want to drive anywhere. Beach was beautiful so if you want to go and prepare your own meals this place is ideal.

We rented The Lighthouse from Ben's Beach Homes for 8 days over Christmas 2022. The house was clean, spacious, well appointed, and everything they said it would be. Our family of 20 from ages 7 to 69 loved the home and all of it's amenities. Right on the beach, pool, hot tub, 4.5 bathrooms, a washer and dryer, and so much more. Management was amazing even when we had a problem with frozen water pipes (along with many others in the area) as the temps were lower than the surrounding area had seen in many years. The were very responsive and attentive to us. We highly recommend Ben's Beach Homes and will definitely use them if we rent in PCB again.

NOTICE::::For the whole month of MARCH Panama City Beach enacts its beach laws which include: NO ALCOHOL on the beach. They strictly enforce these laws. The city is trying to discourage spring breakers and the trouble they have had in the past. They are leaning towards a family-oriented atmosphere.

Soo I have a question! I’m leaving for the beach soon and I’m conflicted. I just turned 21 and I have found it extremely difficult to make an appointment with any dmv due to them being so busy. Meaning, I still have my vertical ID. I was told that if I do get it changed they will give me a temporary paper ID with my old ID attached to it, someone told me they had issues with the paper ID in Florida. So I guess my question is would anyone know if I would have troubles with my vertical ID in Florida? Of course I’m a worry wart and want to make sure I have everything together before traveling. Thanks.

You may wish to contact the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (727) 464-7777 (Mon. -Fri. 8AM - 5PM). This department issues Florida ID's, and should be able to answer your question. Hope this helps

We are planning a family vacation the first week of may but are worried the beach will be crowded. Can anyone tell me if it normally is? We are looking for a family friendly place to go as we do have a two year old and I’m pregnant!
Written April 16, 2021
The beach was not that crowded when we were there in April; however, as the weather gets warmer that may change. The beach is so large there will be plenty of room for all!

What is the cost of beach chairs and umbrellas?
Written March 5, 2021
Average around $35.00-$40.00 per day for 2 chairs and an umbrella. Normally cheaper if you rent for multiple days. If you rent a condo some owners include free beach chairs in their price.
