- Kentuckymimi32 contributionsA fun day at Shipwreck Island Water ParkThis is a nice water park. We got there before they opened at 1030 and used a military discount to get in and bought a locker. Once we could go in we found a table with an umbrella to put our things on near the wave pool. There are covered chairs near all of the kids sections but we had one teenager and 2 adults so the table with the umbrella and shade worked out for us. The wave pool is nice. The waves don’t knock you down. The lazy river is long and I really liked the sitting tubes they had. Not the normal round inner tubes but the ones that have a little seat in them. By noon that day the water in the lazy river was as hot as bath water. We did the big family slide and loved it. They have several other slides and plenty of slides in the kids section to keep kids busy. Lockers were $16 for the day and you could go back to them as much as you wanted. They will put money on a band you can wear on your wrist for the day so you don’t have to keep going after your credit card in the locker. I put $100 on it and had about $40 left. As in every park, the drinks and food are kind of expensive. But overall we really enjoyed it.Visited June 2024Traveled with familyWritten June 9, 2024
- Dreamer541588561731 contributionFamily Kind of PlaceGreat as always! We have enjoyed the new changes with cleanliness and live music. We are big fans, best thing to do for families on the beach - no sand and clean water. I would love some Sweet tea on the menu and faster bar service :)Visited June 2024Traveled with familyWritten June 15, 2024
- Tourist223080150523 contributionsLocals Love It!We are locals and it was such a good year this year! So glad there is actual rule enforcement and not just a free for all. Employees are really good and enforce the rules and keep our kids safe, soemthing I really appreciate as a mother. We already renewed for next season, can't wait to see what they add. We would love to see some new, fun food items!!Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 23, 2024

The wave pool had large waves. The slides were decent. They have many tables with shade so you have an escape from the sun. I have two main issues - the prices for a refillable icee cup said one thing on the board but the charge was significantly higher. My other problem is the music or lack of music variety played. I’m from Nashville so I usually don’t have an issue hearing country music but… no other music was played. No variety at all - country music for the 4 1/2 hrs. I was at the park. Not even a pop song for the many kids and teenagers.

I’m so sorry about your bad experience. You’ll be happy to know we switched to island style music! Maybe if you give us another chance it will be more fun! Thank you for letting us know how to improve. :)

Horrible for anyone over 12. Old, outdated park. Only decent rides were white knuckle river (hardly white knuckle) and lazy river (which was small). Admission for 5 was over $200 and we could barely find enough to do for 2 hours. Food was overpriced as well. No music anywhere. Lockers were an additional charge. Really boring place. If you've ever gone to Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon, Shipwreck is nothing like them (except for the fact that all are water parks). Save your money and go somewhere else.

Betty, we are so sorry we didn't live up to your expectations. We do have a lot for families with kids, but we have tried to blend a mix of the bigger thrill rides in for the teen crown as well. The great Shipwreck Zip from the Ship is one-of-a-kind, because we built it, and is very popular with our guests. The Rapid River Run was built by our team before most waterparks were even thought of in 1979, and it remains our most popular ride even today. Our lazy river is over 2,000 feet long, which is longer than most waterparks, but we are family owned, and certainly can't compete with a corporation as large as Disney. We strive every day to compete with them however, when it comes to hospitality, safety, and cleanliness.

This was great for little kids. We have a 7 year old and a 4 year old and they had the time of their lives. There was a very large kids area with several slides that were age appropriate for my girls and lots of areas with water only about 1’ to 2’ deep. Admission was pricey (about $175 for two adults and two kids) but definitely worth it if you have little ones and need a day away from the beach.

We got there and already were being charged extra for the world's tiniest lockers. 150 bucks for my family to get in, and then a 9 dollar upcharge? Okay. The "life guards" were a little to whistle happy, and overall were very akward. ESPECIALLY on the one slide where you go down a cheesy "waterfall" in a tube. Every turn there's a new life guard, put there in the first place with how slow the actual ride is! I think the biggest issue is how many actual life guards there are. I took a dip into their lazy river and for one stretch of the pool a life guard followed me along the way. He kept walking right alongside with me, so I stopped, ya know, being suspicious and all. The life guard stopped at the same time and only when I decided to continue to the lazy river's ONE EXIT he followed me. For the wave pool alone they had 5 schmucks standing around yelling at little kids. The food was alright, definitely a lot better than the plastic chicken that they give you at universal. One more thing - the rides themselves are built out of wood, and it's a water park... scaling one of the attractions, I looked over at the rotting wood dripping with water and instantly regretted my decision of climbing the stairs that were covered in mold.
Overall some good quality time with the family but a mediocre at best time in the park itself.

Every waterpark I've ever visited sells lockers separately from the park admission, and we have three sizes of lockers small, medium and jumbo. I have been in this industry for 38 years, and I don't find our lifeguards to be awkward. We have two lifeguards on the lazy river who do rove alongside the river, because of a curve in the river that doesn't allow a guard to see effectively through the curve. Yes, we do have a lot of lifeguards, but most guests appreciate the attention to safety. Steel structures along the Gulf of Mexico have a tendency to rust, even stainless steel and galvanized, so we use wood. The timbers that structurally support our slides are inspected every day prior to opening, and every January or February our staff carpenter and an independent inspector examine the wood beams and bolts and identify each one that needs replacing. Water does drip on the wood, but there is never any mold where anyone walks on the top of the stairs or ramps. We will compare our safety record with any park in America. I am terribly sorry we failed to meet your expectations, but we continue to strive to be the best we can be.

Went on a Tuesday, figured we'd have our best bet to socially distance and enjoy the outdoors, we were right! Got there when the gates opened, all the staff wore masks, and most people tried to socially distance. Only had to speak to two couples, to kindly ask them to respect our personal space, other than that there was enough space to weave and dodge other patrons. We only stayed until about two, when the park really began to fill up, but by then we'd ridden all the rides a few times, and were ready to go. A very nice experience, and socially distancing unstressful, unlike our hotel accommodations :( Atop the sluice there is the most amazing view of the Gulf's emerald waters, a very fine place to unwind and relax!

There are approx about 8-10 main rides and we were done in about 2-3 hours. The park isn’t that big. If you’ve been to Aquatica or Blizzard Beach you might not be impressed with the facilities or rides but kids, teens and adults enjoy it, it’s not as expensive as those other parks and the food is good and sold at much more reasonable prices. Lots of places to sit and lounge.

We made a last minute decision on our trip to check out Shipwreck Island and had the best time! We opened the park up and closed it down. We were there on a Friday and it did not feel terribly crowded and there was plenty of room to move around. The snack bar food was actually very good and the meals were large enough for the kids to share. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. The park was very clean, including bathrooms and food areas. We saw staff constantly cleaning throughout the day and lots of hand sanitizer was provided for guests. We had an absolute blast and will definitely return!

Me, my wife and 9 yr old twin boys showed up not knowing what to expect but ready to have fun and in terrific moods. We got on the first slide went down the slide and immediately got hit with a fairly bad attitude from the life guard at the end of the slide. Kind of really set the mood for the day. We experience this with most of the life guards at the park. It was like most of the life guards did not want to be there or deal with the customer. Kids loved the slides and other things to do but the customer service from the life guards sucked. However, everyone at the concession stands were very nice and helpful. Over all experience was bad. We went there for the water experience not the concessions.

Nicely landscaped, not crowded, reasonable lines, good food and cocktails, very nice and clean. A little smaller but still stayed for 4 hours. Only one ride made me uncomfortable..the first one as you enter, one where you climb all the way up and ride down on a tube by yourself through a waterfall. Super cool ride but that one is straight up unsafe! The walls of the slide were too sharp from peeling plaster or whatever that is. Chunks were missing too. Crazy. You could easily get pretty messed up on that one. Y’all definitely should close that one down to repair it. The other rides were perfect, clean, and safe! Thanks for a great time!

How many acres of car parking do you offer? Is that included in the 14 acres of the park?

Can you bring in a backpack with water bottles? I have a crew of 6 and we have our water bottles we were gonna take but it doesn't say and we're going today. Help please

I have searched the website, but not found an answer. Is there weight restrictions? I am plussized, and would like to know if the park is worth paying for considering this fact.
Written January 14, 2021
My son is close to 300 lbs and was able to ride all of them. I do not recall any restrictions. I do believe recalling one being questionable I believe it was a tube ride. I hope this info helps.

Is the park pretty busy in mid- August? Trying to find a time in August to go when it's not so busy.
Written June 5, 2020
It’s always busy. However, there’s a tremendous amount of property and it won’t be hard to practice social distancing. Promise, you’ll have a great time.

My wife and I are coming to PCB the last week of September, will this still be open ? If so should it be less crowded then ?

Is the food at the park reasonably priced? Taking a youth group and trying to decide whether to eat in the park or bring something and go out to bus to eat.
Written June 21, 2019
In my opinion it's a little high, so you might want to eat in the bus.

Is there any way to get discount tickets online? We read that you can get $4 off with Pier Park merchants? Are they far away? We are coming for the day with four kids so it would be nice to just buy the tickets online ahead of time without having to make a stop. Thank you!
Written July 24, 2018
Only certain pier park merchants participate. We went to Starbucks and used that receipt for $4 off each tickets
