You will be surprised at the amount of agriculture there is in Manatee county. The museum is divided up into the various different farming in the county from citrus, dairy, vegetables, cattle ranching and machinery used in an early era.

This is (was) a very agricultural county. Lots of old buildings and farm implements. Combine this with a trip to Gamble Plantation and Palmetto historical park and you'll have a good grip on antebellum Florida. Very inexpensive or free.
