There's a parking charge. There's a restroom next to the parking lot. The beach is a very short walk away from the parking lot. There's picnic tables. A very short walk is an historic building, "The Little Red Schoolhouse". It's worth looking at.

Stopped by the park the other day. The beach and water are very nice. Good place for families and for just taking a walk by yourself.

This beach wasn’t very crowded and there was ample parking but it was expensive ($5 an hour). There’s a big drop off right off the shore so it doesn’t stay very shallow long. There is also a hill to walk up to get to the...More

This place tends not to get too busy. The only issue can be the parking and make sure you pay or you will get a ticket! Nice for a family but bring your shade or you will get fried all year !

Easy access to a great sandy beach. Parking is free for 2 hours for some of the spaces, and $5/hr for the rest. Friendly and helpful life guards to answer questions for a flatlander about the rip currents and man-o-war warnings up when the wind...More

Which Beach in Palm Beach? (2 Replies)
We're travelling to the Palm Beach area later this week - but not staying on the beach. I've found two listings for public beachs; Phipps Ocean Park and John D. Macarthur Beach State Park, but not much info on either. Any recos? Looking for a nice beach with some facilities (i.e. bathroom)

I thoroughly recommend John D. MacArthur. It is pristine and beautiful--one of the nicest beaches in South Florida. You feel like you are off on some tropical island when you are there! It's a state park, so it has restrooms, changing rooms, showers, and even a small nature center/museum. This is what I recommend (something I've always done with my kids)--stopping at a Public Supermarket, having some subs made, picking up beverages and the rest of your lunch, and hitting the beach!
