This place was free and a great place to take a walk. There is wildlife that you can see in the river, and a pamplet guide for the trees and plants you see along the way. I highly recommend this place! Easy hike for families!

Nice trail for a sunny day. Most of the trail is forested so there’s plenty of shade. Lots of turtles sunning in the creek. Its pretty easy to tailor the trails for a walk as short as 1/2 hour or as long as 1 1/2 hour

Turkey Creek Sanctuary was an easy hike for my whole family. We enjoyed all of the beautiful trees and nature around an awesome boardwalk. The park was well maintained and had plenty of areas to sit and enjoy nature. There is also a gopher tortoise burrowing site at the park. I highly recommend this place for people of all ages.

We went here with my daughter and grandkids on our recent visit to Florida. Excellent boardwalk that winds through old growth forest and along the river. Excellent nature center and very engaging for kids. The staff is very friendly too. Also has some hiking/jogging trails.

This is a lovely place to walk in an extremely peaceful environment. It sits next to the Palm Bay Library but also has a nice visitor’s center with friendly staff , helpful information and clean restrooms. There is a wonderful boardwalk through the hammock that will give you views of the creek and potentially manatees. Trees and plants are identified and there are also at least 2 trails. The walks are almost entirely shaded and comfortable but take plenty of water. Gopher tortoises are easily spotted and ready for their closeups! There is a picnic pavilion and also plenty of parking. My one caution regarding the boardwalk are the oversized gaps between the boards which kept catching my hiking boots so you may want to look down to avoid a tumble. This sanctuary was so enticing we visited yesterday and returned this morning. Gorgeous spot near Melbourne Beach!

We were flying out of the local airport so stopped here enroute for a little walk. There was free parking. There are a variety of routes you could take on the boardwalk. We did the loop. We were lucky to spot lots of gophers tortoises alongside other tortoises and fish. We enjoyed about an hour in the park.

Was staying in Melbourne Beach and looking for some thing to do in the morning and found this park on Trip Advisor and via a community newsletter where I was staying. It was an easy drive from the beach. I followed the different trails both on boardwalk and the sand trails. Enjoyed the trails that follow the creek. There were lots fo turtles in the creek, saw some large fish (wash't sure what type but was long like a sand shark) and even encountered a raccoon. Did not see a manatee, but heard another group did. There were also people kayaking through the park and did walk to the kayak deck, but need to find out where you can rent kayaks. Would recommend a trip to the park if visiting the area.

This is a hidden gem of a nature park. Peaceful with a long boardwalk parts of it along the Turkey creek. Well managed and entrance is free. Ample parking and very friendly park staff. There was warning of horse flies, but we were dressed appropriately (pants, and lone sleeves). Did not encounter any flies. Enjoyable couple of hours.

My daughter just moved to the area and we were checking out the sights. We met a lovely lady in the office who was enthusiastic about the park. The walkway was great and the park was well groomed. The loop around was a nice scenic tour! Definitely nice place to spend an afternoon. The childrens programs looked informative.

Turkey Creek is the perfect place to get all from all the hustle and bustle of a normal Florida holiday. It is a nature reserve with planned walks that meander through beatiful scenery. There are plenty of information points so you know what you are looking at and what to expect to see (if you are lucky). The peace and quiet are just the anti-dote to all the theme parks and queues. There is a little shop/information point staffed by really friendly helpful people. If you want a taste of what Florida was like before Mickey Mouse then this is the place for you.

Are there any wheelchairs available ?
Written February 24, 2019
No. There are no wheelchairs available for rent. However, the grounds and boardwalks are wheelchair friendly.

Are there any benches to stop and sit on during the walk? My husband has Degenerative disc disease and can't walk without resting.
Written July 17, 2018
Yes there are, as long as you stay on the boardwalk trails. I don’t remember seeing any on the “natural” trails.

There is a mountain biking path alongside the sanctuary but it's maintained by the park district and I'm not certain if the upkeep is all that good . But I do know it's a medium level path with pretty rough terrain . Not for a small child or the elderly.

if you were walking some of the trails outside the sanctuary or if the dog was in the canoe , it's ok , but because of all the wildlife , dogs are not allowed in the actual park , but there are so many outlying trails that you could hike with your dog . The gators are pretty large and if a small dog were to fall in the water , well , I wouldn't risk it .

Please could you tell me what the names on the boardwalk cost...thanks.
Written June 18, 2016
Those are donations made on behalf of the memory of someone deceased , you can call the park and they will put you in touch with the right people
