The sanctuary is a great place to really enjoy nature. The walking/hiking trails are well marked and an interpretive guide is available, which has excellent information on the native flora. We especially like looking for the “Red Blanket” lichens. The overlook at the creek was another great spot. We had fun watching the turtles. We went early in the morning and the sanctuary was very quiet and serene. A fun place for families. Be sure to check when the visitor center is open. We were sorry that is was closed while we were there.

Mt wife and I and another couple had a wonderful morning exploring the boardwalk and trails of the sanctuary. The flora was incredibly diverse and to us, exotic. The boardwalk itself even tells a story as folks can have their names or memories routed into the deck boards. We saw so many turtles in Turkey Creek along with an alligator hanging out on a log. The Gar fish swimming in the creek are impressive. The trails are easy to walk and the boardwalk has several observation juts that help immerse your into the exotic surroundings. Definitely put it on your list.

This place was free and a great place to take a walk. There is wildlife that you can see in the river, and a pamplet guide for the trees and plants you see along the way. I highly recommend this place! Easy hike for families!

I had the pleasure to talk a walk a long the boardwalk in the Turkey Creek preserve. Lots of wild life and plenty to see. I met a very knowledgeable volunteer by the name of JZ who was guide informative about the preserve. Make sure that you look in the ranger station.. lots to see.

We went here with my daughter and grandkids on our recent visit to Florida. Excellent boardwalk that winds through old growth forest and along the river. Excellent nature center and very engaging for kids. The staff is very friendly too. Also has some hiking/jogging trails.

This is a lovely place to walk in an extremely peaceful environment. It sits next to the Palm Bay Library but also has a nice visitor’s center with friendly staff , helpful information and clean restrooms. There is a wonderful boardwalk through the hammock that will give you views of the creek and potentially manatees. Trees and plants are identified and there are also at least 2 trails. The walks are almost entirely shaded and comfortable but take plenty of water. Gopher tortoises are easily spotted and ready for their closeups! There is a picnic pavilion and also plenty of parking. My one caution regarding the boardwalk are the oversized gaps between the boards which kept catching my hiking boots so you may want to look down to avoid a tumble. This sanctuary was so enticing we visited yesterday and returned this morning. Gorgeous spot near Melbourne Beach!

Turkey Creek Sanctuary was an easy hike for my whole family. We enjoyed all of the beautiful trees and nature around an awesome boardwalk. The park was well maintained and had plenty of areas to sit and enjoy nature. There is also a gopher tortoise burrowing site at the park. I highly recommend this place for people of all ages.

Was staying in Melbourne Beach and looking for some thing to do in the morning and found this park on Trip Advisor and via a community newsletter where I was staying. It was an easy drive from the beach. I followed the different trails both on boardwalk and the sand trails. Enjoyed the trails that follow the creek. There were lots fo turtles in the creek, saw some large fish (wash't sure what type but was long like a sand shark) and even encountered a raccoon. Did not see a manatee, but heard another group did. There were also people kayaking through the park and did walk to the kayak deck, but need to find out where you can rent kayaks. Would recommend a trip to the park if visiting the area.

Turkey Creek is the perfect place to get all from all the hustle and bustle of a normal Florida holiday. It is a nature reserve with planned walks that meander through beatiful scenery. There are plenty of information points so you know what you are looking at and what to expect to see (if you are lucky). The peace and quiet are just the anti-dote to all the theme parks and queues. There is a little shop/information point staffed by really friendly helpful people. If you want a taste of what Florida was like before Mickey Mouse then this is the place for you.

I went to Turkey Creek Sanctuary in July and my only complaint was the excessive heat. It's a nice place to walk around though and feel like you're out of the city, when in reality it's not.

There is one spot called "the treehouse" and it offers a good view and has big oaks with airplants and orchids hanging down. The river winds around the place and there are white sand bluffs about 40 feet high around the river. I live down by Miami and we don't have anything like that around here.

If you go to the end of the trail you can find some manatees and there are a bunch of turtles with suckerfish on their backs. I don't recall seeing any alligators there so if you're going to see alligators you might be out of luck on that spot.

I just did the boardwalk but if you have a canoe they have a boat launch area there. I'm sure it would be better to explore on a canoe. Here are a couple pics on the link below.
