WHAT A RIDE!! This ticked off another item on our bucketlist. Our pilot Sammy was awesome. She might be small in stature but she is packed with knowledge, ability to maneuver the airboat, and alligator handling. We took a 10:30 tour and saw many alligators of all sizes and many birds. This 30 minute tour was definitely a highlight to our time in Florida. We recommend it to all nature lovers who have never experienced airboating to view alligators. We will bring friends here when they visit us in Florida.

We had a very good time on a quick airboat tour today. The Florida weather was amazing, as usual. It is something you can take your teenage children and your 78 year old mother to and they all enjoy it. It is a quick ride but you can also see the birds and the gators on the property for free.
The airboat is noisy so you won't be doing any talking on the ride. It is worth it though when the airboat skips over the plant life in the lake.
We live only a few miles from Black Hammock. I will go again with more people from out of town.

We took our family of 6 grandchildren and their parents yesterday, the kids and adults loved the experience. We had a great captain. Lake Jessup is so beautiful and we saw so many beautiful birds and plenty of gators too. You can get deep into the marsh and swamps surrounding Lake Jessup on the airboat. It was so nice that all 11 of us fit on their boats. We liked that there were activities to do with the kids before we got on the boat. The kids enjoyed seeing all the macaws and parrots and the alligator in the cages on the property to keep them busy while waiting for our boat to leave.

Captain Byron was great! He was very thorough and gave the best tour of Lake Jesup. He had some historical facts about the area, showed us various bird species and spotted several gators in their nesting spots along the tour. It was fun and exciting for all ages. Everyone starting with my 77 yr old dad down to my 6 yr old nephew enjoyed this trip! Feeding the gators and birds was a hit as well. The newly reopend restaurant serves delicious food and the serving staff was very attentive. We had a great time and plan to return for another tour in the near future!

The boat tour was way too quick to see wildlife. The captain scared away a lot of the birds as we whizzed past them at the rate of knots. It was assumed that all we wanted to see was alligators and he didn't seem to care about the bird life that we passed. There was no personal touch at all. And it certainly wasn't 'eco'
The bathrooms looked like they had never been cleaned for months.
The only saving grace were the 2 girls serving in the gift shop and restaurant, who were lovely.

Absolutely horrible... complete rip off, don’t even bother wasting your time or money stopping just keep driving to the Everglades. (You’ll actually see a gator). If your interested in seeing birds and grass it’s perfect for you.. if you’re actually looking for a gator experience you’ll leave feeling like you Paid 30$ to take a picture with a foot long gator... because that’s the only one you’ll even see. “Unique gator experience” lol if by unique they Mean they are the only airboat ride in FL that YOU WONT SEE A GATOR ON. Then they hit the nail on the head! we would have stayed to eat but after pouring 130$ down the drain we weren’t too enthusiastic about giving them more money for food.

My Dad and I partook in the one hour airboat tour. If you are wanting to see Alligators and other FL animals in the wild this is the tour for you! Don’t judge a book by its cover. The store, restaurant area, etc are a bit run down but we chose this location because it’s situated on Lake Jessup and has one of the highest gator populations! We saw them even before boarding the boat! It was unreal. Our captain was very knowledgeable about the wildlife. My favorite part was actually a flock of hundreds of pelicans that took flight right in front of our boat! Surreal! If you aren’t looking for gimmicks and want a nature show go to Black Hammock!

The owner doesn’t allow food in the bar. Weird. We ordered there at the empty bar but they left our food outside under a tarp. We huddled outside in blowing wind and rain to eat cold wings despite our questions to the staff who were just as perplexed about the rules. Then we went back inside the bar to all the empty tables. No exceptions! Makes absolutely no sense.

We had a blast with captain John Mines on our airboat tour!
I have only been on an airboat once before as a child and WOW. I can’t believe the amount of wild life and how much I learned from Captain John!
Our ride was absolutely beautiful, and I especially enjoyed listening to fun stories about the nature and wildlife during certain stops during our journey! AND OF COURSE, seeing alligators! We saw at least 4 alligators during our 30 minute ride!
John was so friendly and made us feel
Extra safe with his Saftey demo before we launched off the dock. He has funny jokes, too to keep things lighthearted and fun for everyone!
I would highly recommend Black Hammock and ask for Captain John!

We were disappointed in the boat ride. They went so fast the majority of the ride you had to hold your head down. There was very little narrative and you couldn't hardly get a picture. Maybe a longer ride would have been more enjoyable. The food at the restaurant was very good.

Is there public transportation facility to get there? Any alternative without a car?
For a senior with a bum knee and a cane, are there any entry/exit issues with the boat?

When the water levels are high (like right now) the boats are not very accessible. We used a temporary plank bridge to access the boat. That being said, I believe they would have done everything possible to get someone with mobility issues on that boat. I would recommend calling ahead of time if you are visiting during the rainy season.
