We rode this fun ride twice during our stay and both times were excellent. A classic ride not to be missed. Enjoy!Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten November 13, 2023
- Mike from Rival TownNiagara Falls, Canada927 contributionsClassic! Amazing detail right down to the scentA classic! A nice long boat ride with tons of cool animatronics and one fun stuff to look at. I love all the detail right down to the smell, and I’ll always love the small but effective drop (you still don’t really get wet). This ride is even better during the Halloween event because they’ll have pirate actors through the queue and the ride, and they’re really funny!Visited January 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 18, 2023
- Robert FAltamonte Springs, Florida55 contributionsA Classic Ride That is a MustI always love riding Pirates at Magic Kingdom and think its the best version in the U.S., but I do think that the Magic Kingdom version misses one thing that the Disneyland version has and that is the view of the deck of Blue Bayou. I think that seeing a restaurant like you do in the California version adds something to the ride. This one is fun and my family enjoyed it. It is a must ride while at Magic Kingdom. Luckily, we didn't have that long of a wait either, less than 15 minutes.Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten February 2, 2024
- TravelingSoccerLoonSaint Paul, Minnesota5,970 contributionsDisney at Its Best. A Classic.Pirates of the Caribbean is a Disney classic and is so much fun. The song is contagious, and the animatronics are outstanding. So much attention to detail including the smell of gunpowder when passing through the ship battle. This and the Haunted Mansion represent Disney at its best. I have found there are strategies to ride POC without waiting in a long line. The line fluctuates throughout the day and the wait seems to drop off at night or you can usually grab a Genie + Lightening Lane not too far in advance from when you wish to ride. The ride is so satisfying that a 40 min wait is reasonable.Visited March 2023Traveled with friendsWritten February 19, 2024
- BakerBlakely, Georgia504 contributionsGreat TimePirates of the Caribbean is a fun, classic boat ride that’s about pirates. This is at Magic Kingdom, and does have shorter wait times than other rides. The queue was mostly bland, but contained a few cool items. The ride itself was immersive, and really put you into what’s going on in the story. There’s a drop in this ride, so prepare to get wet! The catchy song combined with the immersion, and the drop all makes this a fun ride. Overall, it is worth checking out! Still one of our favorite rides at Magic Kingdom. Great location too.Visited February 2024Traveled with familyWritten February 21, 2024
- sweetgemsLondon, United Kingdom233 contributionsFab experience! This is a classic Disney ride and we thoroughly enjoyed it, riding it twice over consecutive days. It is an immersive boat ride in the dark, with a small drop where you can get a little wet. We had a towel with us and noticed one side of the boat was wet before we got in, so were prepared for a little water! The music is great and tracking Jack Sparrow around the ride is good fun.Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 6, 2024
- Karen VTampa, Florida3,162 contributionsA classic ride! This has to be our favorite ride in the Magic Kingdom. It's the best theme of all. This was actually the last ride that Walt Disney helped in designing prior to his death. It's a classic! Also, the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise got its inspiration from this ride. Most of all, who can ever forget the singing of "A Pirate's Life for Me' by the Mellomen. There are sports teams that have adopted this song during their pregame show. We love the song and pirate theme here in Tampa Bay. However, there have been many changes to this ride. It does seem darker than cartoony, and it's now more in line with the movie franchise. The likeness of Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow is so lifelike in person. It's almost creepy that they even use his voice in the audio-animatronic character. There are a few small drops (or plunges), and you may get a little wet from water shooting from the right side of the boat. The famous Wicked Wrench in the battle scene is always the highlight of the ride. The only disappointment is that you no longer get to see the stinky foot pirate on the bridge. What happened to the hairy leg? We looked at the bridge and immediately knew something was missing. Please bring back that stinky foot pirate!!! It has always been the most nostalgic part of the ride. It's odd that they removed it. Thankfully they still have the prison dog with the key chain in his mouth. It would have been tragic if they removed that. A visit to the Magic Kingdom would be amiss without experiencing Pirates of the Caribbean.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 24, 2024
- Eileen19127 contributionsFun Classic RideThis is one of my favorite rides in the Magic Kingdom. Yes, it's old, but it's really fun. The atmosphere and theming are dark and pirate-y, but not scary. There is one small drop at the beginning in complete darkness, but after that, it's a slow boat ride through different pirate scenes. If you look carefully at the scenes, you'll find some humor as well. It's a great classic ride.Visited May 2024Traveled soloWritten May 28, 2024

I went to this show with my two children who are 3 and 9. The entertainers did not interact and acknowledge my kids. My kids are African American. They need to interact with all children regardless of their race. One of the entertainer is black. He should know better. None of the entertainer interacted or acknowledge my children. They even invited the white children on stage while my kids watch from the front row. I told all my family and friends not to go to that show when visiting Florida. I left before the show end I was very upset. Never ever will do this show again.

Located in Disney’s Magic Kingdom in the Adventureland portion of the park (to the left of Main Street). It is easy to find and well set up for large crowds and COVID separation with a large waiting area under cover from the Florida heat. It is a tame but fanciful boat ride through the world of the Pirates of the Caribbean. If you have never been to the park or ridden the ride then it is a must. It is a little bit dark and there are “explosion” of water so it may be a little scary to the new rider. They seat typically 2 parties to a boat to maintain separation for COVID. If you have visited before, it is a good place to enjoy a cool ride through this made up adventure. Enjoy.

This has been my favorite Disney experience for most of my life, even before the movie series. Last week my wife and I went through three times and loved every minute of it. The updates with Captain Jack Sparrow are great and not overdone. The wait during the day was about 45 minutes, but on Thursday night, the wait was less than 5 minutes. The ride is a classic and I hope it sails on forever!

This is one of our favorite rides because it’s a fun, and little bit exciting, boat ride. We snaked along in a social distancing line, and only waited 30 minutes. As we walked to the boat, we saw things we didn’t remember from the last time, and it’s been a few years. We were in the front of our boat, and one other party (4) was behind us.
On the ride, we had one drop in the beginning and got splashed a tiny bit. We thought we’d have 2 drops, but that was the only one. Capt. Jack Sparrow is now mentioned in the script, and can be seen on the ride. The auction has charged - the red head is now a pirate! And an English couple is in the cue for auctioning.
The ride is too short. We wanted it to go on and on, but it ended within five minutes. So much fun!

Is the drop for splash mountain bad? Idk what to compare it to? I love flume rides but HATE high drops

Does this ride have a drop? Is it deep?
I rode this at Disneyland Paris and it went up at one point, but that was it.
Written December 13, 2019
It's a very small drop - nothing to worry about. I have been on the Paris one and hated it so much so didn't go on this ride for two visits. Went on it last year and was terrified but you barely notice the drop at all so don't worry about it.

How much time do people usually spend there?

With a fastpass and a small line near the boats it is around 20 minutes start to finish and about 25 minutes if you browse around in the pirates store. So I would add 15 minutes to what the standby line posts.
