We have been in Orlando many times over the past 15 years but never visited the actual downtown and historic area! How crazy were we? It is a great experience, simply walking around taking in the real and original Orlando. The history is very interesting - if that interests you. Only in the U.S. do you have an historical area showing signs and markers as “Established 1989”….. historical? Despite that it is a great area of town and we wished we had visited before.

It is a small downtown but quite interesting especially the historic district
Old RailAway station souvenir from spanish Time
The first presbyterian church and thé catholic cathedral
Then eola lake With nice squarrels
Unfortunately the parking there can be expensive if you forget to put enough coins in the machine 😞
So be careful if you park downtown !

Steven could not have been more rude.
I simply asked for a rate adjustment as they accidentally put me in a room that is certainly not a Lakeview. At least that was my assumption as there is no Lakeview and yet I paid for one. He told me this room is considered a Lakeview I asked him to repeat that because I can’t imagine that they intentionally miss lead customers from a major chain like this. It would seem that they would have better things to do.
Additionally The hotel is not particularly Covid friendly. Manny mast one is the chin diapers
And finally the street noise in my “Lakeview room” kept me up
there are plenty of other places to stay find one

Probably the worst restaurants and retail I’ve ever seen in a City. Majority of restaurants are dark and dreary bars that sell average tacos. During the day the streets are virtually empty except for a homeless people on every corner. At night the streets are filled with drunks, vomit, cigarette smoke, and aggressive homeless people . There is really no reason to ever go downtown. I don’t understand how they have a professional basketball team. If not coming to Orlando for the parks you should go to any other city.
It’s dirty and disgusting here.

Quite frankly the place is disgusting. It is a hodgepodge of architectural mishaps and devoid of any history or culture. Many homeless and the stench of urine abound. It has virtually no retail and horrible food offerings. It is basically a suburb of a theme park completely lacking identity. It is known for nothing and never will be. Streets completely empty in the middle of a business day other than a few stragglers not smart enough to brown bag it during lunch hour. At night it becomes John Carpenters Escape From NY with the sewers being unleashed. The asphalt makes the already oppressive climate worse. Nothing in your life short of being kidnapped should ever take you to downtown Orlando. Place should be completely leveled.

We went on the afternoon on downtown, on church street..... not for tourists, only strange people, pubs, bars, people who asked money to us.... so we called one uber and went to one steak house out of Orlando....

Light lunch by lake Eola? Forget it. Rampant homelessness. Public urination. Open drug use. $27 parking ticket. I will not be returning soon, maybe never.

Orlando is famous for being the home of many theme parks and for lots of people that’s all there is to this interesting city.
We found museums, watering holes, and intimate bistros within the city limits.
Want some history? The Orange County Regional History Center is a complete venue for this region’s growth from 10,000 BC to today. A small fee to spend several hours enjoying some of the best exhibits of the environs is well worth your money and time.
Across the street you can relax under stately oaks while enjoying a thirst quenching drink from one of many cafes surrounding the square.
Unless you find a parking meter with time left you’ll have to use one of several private parking lots.

I'm pretty iffy about the surrounding areas but the clubs seem ok between 9pm and 2pm. During the day there is a bit of traffic and it's ok for business, some cute "mom & pop" restaurants for the afternoon. Other than that, I think I'll stay away from Downtown Orlando

A lot of much better places to go than Down Town Orlando.
Although, years ago it was a lot of fun!
Usually take an Uber and avoid the parking and driving.
Sorry to tell you that Down Town is: CLOSED! Lot of homeless sleeping on the sidewalks. Only thing open is the 7-11.
Try the International Drive area!
You’ll find restaurants, entertainment & bars there and lots of hotels and fun things to do.
Avoid Orlando’s down town areas.
Not safe at all and nothing there!

Saludos

It is somekind of tricky but the best way is,coming west from East- West Expressway, getting out to I-4 and Daytona Exit and then in I-4 take the SR 50 exit going east. Inmediatly, once in SR 50, make a right in Orange Ave heading South. That will get you directly into Downtown Areas.
Anither option would be taking the Mills exit on East West Expressway...but it is more difficult.

taxi, it costs about 40$-50$, or shuttle bus to your Hotel downtown. or the super-intricated Lynx (good luck): it takes about 1 hour to reach it.
