AWESOME thrill rides! Staff if super friendly.
The only issue we had was that it poured for two hours during our visit (rain not forecasted), it was in the middle of the day so it was CHAOS. Rides were temporarily closed and every store and restaurant with a roof was packed. We had to buy ponchos, a towel and t shirts to dry ourselves (all these were crazy expensive) so we recommend bringing a poncho from outside and bringing an extra change of clothes just in case.
The lines during these time were pretty alright, the only long one was the Harry Potter Motorbike. Tip: the cool thing about the park's app is that it lets you set an alarm for then the lines aren't as long.
Would definitely come back but a little more prepared for the weather lol.

Hi Minerva. Thank you for your review. I am thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your visit, and that you had such great interactions with our fantastic Team Members. Aren't the attractions just amazing? Make sure you try The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man during your next visit, it's my favorite! I know how important your vacation time is, and our Teams work hard to provide the best entertainment experience possible. Your safety is the most important part of that experience; therefore, in the event of severe weather, we may need to close our outdoor attractions temporarily as a safety precaution. I am also happy to hear that you enjoyed using our mobile app! Please be assured that your feedback has been formally documented and will be reviewed by the proper leadership teams. Thank you again for your review, I hope you will visit us again soon. - Victoria

Last time I was here in my teens and am now in 30s. Came with my wife and daughter who is 12. Park is quite clean, wasn’t too busy (highly recommend week days), and the solo line was great. Wife and kid don’t ride the big coasters so the single line is genius and I was able to get on some of the bigger rides in under 20 minutes. I was surprised at how fair food prices were. We ate at two restaurants and both were definitely not a rip off. The ButterBeer was pricey $8.50 for a 16oz cup, however it was quite tasty (I felt this was the biggest ripoff of all things but it was worth it still). I highly recommend the refill cup if you plan on visiting multiple days or you have a family that drinks a lot of soda, water, icee, or anything else. Best rides hands down for me are Velocicoaster and Hagrids Motorbike. E.T. The ride definitely shows it’s age, although it provided some nostalgia (oldest ride in the park). I highly recommend making the trip once here in your life, the best place for family entertainment I’ve been to!

Islands of Adventure is one the best theme park experiences in the theme park industry. The park is divided into 8 islands (theme lands), each with a different feel and immersion. It's a nostalgic experience for many who grew up with Marvel, King Kong, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, Dr. Seuss, and Jay Ward cartoons. This is also he place for some of the most memorable rides and attractions, such as, Incredible Hulk (my favorite ride in the park), Amazing Adventure of Spider-man, Skull Island, and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.

Islands of Adventure is a great place for families with older kids, teens and thrill seekers, it offers a lot thrill rides. The park is easy to navigate, the theme lands surround a lake,so the walkway is a circle. The food variety, I found to be better than Universal Studios., but it' pretty pricey. Get butter beer its delicious.

I recommend getting the two day two park pass, allowing you to go to both parks on the same day. Unlike Disney, who's parks have a lot of distance between them, both Universal parks are right next to each other, just a short walk from each other. Now depending how much time you have and when you go will determine whether it's necessary to get an Express Pass to cut the lines, summer time is insanely crowded.

Overall Islands of Adventure is great place to spend a day, but plan it well, cause it is an expensive park. I will return soon and hopefully more things are open to make the trip much more satisfying. So if Orlando is in your travel plans, Islands of Adventure is a great option for fun and memories.

Hi Josue! Thank you for your review. I am happy to hear that you enjoyed our many different themed areas and attractions! The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man is one of my most favorite attractions, so I love to hear that you enjoyed it as well. One of my favorite family friendly areas is Seuss Landing, there are so many amazing areas to explore with incredible details. It is a great recommendation to have a multi-day ticket to ensure you can see everything we have to offer. We hope to see you again soon! -Brianna

I would love to give the park 4 of 5 but the sting of 2-hour waits for pretty much every ride (after paying more for these tix than Disney's high prices) took the fun out of the day. Would definitely not recommend going Christmas to New Year's unless you're willing to pay the extra for the express passes.

PROS: The Harry Potter section is fantastic. Headed to Forbidden Journey Ride first thing in the morning, so it only took an hour in line. The new Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure did not disappoint, but it was a solid 2-1/2 hour wait.

Mythos restaurant is excellent. Make reservations in advance

CONS: Between 9am and 9pm our family of 4 managed to get on 4 rides. No matter what park you go to, be prepared for the "my family is up ahead" ploy where people cut in front of you. Very annoying. There's never a team member there when you want them to see that stuff.

We had park to park passes. Went to the Hulk first because it was a 20 minutes wait. It ended up closing down twice while we were waiting and after an hour we finally left the ride without going on it. Veliceraptor was a GREAT ride when we finally got on it, but that ended up being an hour and a half wait because they closed the ride while we were waiting when it was only supposed to be 45 minutes. Both those rides you don't know that the ride wait time has gone up or what its gone up to because you need to put your phone in a locker or give it to someone not on the ride. The park closed an hour earlier that day due to a Tech company's private event. They cancelled the evening's events like the Projection Light show on Hogwart's without any notice on the app or in person. We took the train ride from Islands of Adventure to Universal first around 1p and it was only 20 minutes, We were going to take it on the way back, but it was a 2 hour wait at 5p and Islands of Adventure closed at 7p. The Express pass line was an hour. It was pointless. Had we know it would be so long we would have done it earlier (because both ways are different) and timed our park to park differently. There was no other way between the park to park besides leaving through the main entrance and going into Islands of Adventure through the main entrance. We had a older person in our group that takes a long time to walk so it took us too long to have to get back to the other Harry Potter world. Because the wait times are so long, I don't know that I want to go back again, and certainly wouldn't do a park to park. After complaining at the end of the day of so many rides breaking down while we were waiting for them, they said sometimes when the weather goes cold, these rides are harder to operate. I guess that is the repercussion for wanted bigger, more fast paced rides. But if you spend a day in the park getting on four rides, I'm not sure its really worth it.

I visited both theme parks in Orlando: Universal (with the family), and Island of adventure with my 12 years old son. Dates december 27th and 29th.

I would say that the visit to Universal went as expected...with our expensive express tickets. However, experience on Island of Adventure had mixed feelings (also with expensive express tickets). Good cadance in AM hours, but less and less fun in PM. Furtunately, we managed to keep a positive balance by the end of the day.

Rides in general are great, but experience is quite expensive when you consider you pay for 1) Tickets, 2) Express Pass, and 3) TIME.

Is this something worth? My pesonal opinion it is not, but my son has a different point of view, and I am happy this is the case, since at the end of the day I was there for him, this is what really matter. That being said, if you decide to go I strongly recommend to do so with express pass. Otherwise, you are basically paying to do long lines.

At the begining AM hours all was good, but in PM hours lines were incredible long up to 3 and 4 hours (for none express pass rides), and on top of that Hagrid and velociraptor were experiencing "technical difficulties". The message communicated to customers was something like "we apologise, and will continue shortly", which definetely was not the case. People tired, lying on the floor....

Somehow, we managed to do Hagrid`s Motorbike experience which is really good, but the time spent is simple not worth it. The balance of the great fun does not compensate for this 4 hours line attracktion. Just before doing the ride, I complained before one staff member, and he did not care, just listened to me with an approch: This is it, wether you like it or not, was a kind offensive.

After that long line, we decided (my son aggred with me) to go only to exprees tickets attractions, but Harry Potter & the Fobidden Journey was also having "Technical difficulties" with file not moving for express tickets holders neither. At this time I decided to continue my complain. This time staff was more cooperative, and guided me to the right person, now with a better approach...most customer service driven (for someone that spent that day at least $800 in tickets for two.

Furtunately, we still had time to have fun and complete all the atracktions, and my son, despite 6 hours in line for two atracktion (2 for Velociraptor and 4 for Hagrid) keeps great memories, with a wow feeling (not me). I believe this is one of the reasons why the crowd is still crazy during holidays, but evaluate carefully your decisions before making your purchase. There are plenty of options out there to consider

Islands of Adventure is a really fun theme park. I was a bit worried about it because I'm not a fan of rollercoasters and I'm really afraid of heights so I thought I would be quite bored. I was wrong - for people who like movies, it's such a great and exciting place, with plenty of scenery to get lost within and really fun rides.

Fans of Jurassic Park (my favourite film) will have a blast with themed restaurants, a lot of shops and cool merch being sold, and the rides. The main Jurassic Park ride is quite outdated but it was still fun (despite the big drop that terrorised me a bit but pretty similar to the one in Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom). My friends really enjoyed the Velocicoaster as well, despite not having much from the films there.

The Harry Potter Wizarding World area is absolutely incredible so fans of the series will be in heaven. Hogsmeade is amazing, with really fun shops and restaurants. Hagrid's Motorcycle rollercoaster was my friends' favourite attraction from all Orlando parks (but be aware of the massive queues, even if you go to the single rider option). The Forbidden Forest is also really cool and well done, with short lines. It's a bit too intense though, especially if you don't like the dark or are afraid of heights like me, as you get suspended and have the feeling of flying.

The water rides are really awesome (and you will get soaked wet from head to toes, so be prepared with extra clothes)! All the details put into each areas, shops, signs, are great and add a lot to the fun. The King Kong ride is amazingly fun and tamed enough, while realistic and well done, it was one of my favourites, and it's quite soft in a way, without being boring.

Be aware of 2 things though - the lines can be huge and the express line, which would get you to skip them, is ridiculously expensive at 120 dollars for the unlimited version and 70 dollars for the one where you can use once per ride (against 15 dollars for the Disney Parks, where you just need to book the time). And if it rains, most rides will close, even before the rain arrives, which is a big bummer. I would recommended going early in the morning to be able to enjoy it fully, as rains are fairly common in the afternoon (at least in September, when I visited).

This was my second trip to Universal with my girlfriend this year and it never disappoints.

The first time I wasn’t 100% well and so missed out on a few things which I was glad to do this time around.

Hagrids Magical Creatures ride, this is something else, phenomenal and highly recommended and you 100% have to ride it both in the sidecar and on the bike.

The only issue is the wait times and constant delays as it seems to regularly break down or be delayed, but don’t let this out you off, however unlike some rides the wait times are accurate.

Forbidden Journey was a great ride on both trips and I highly recommend this, if you get motion sickness and want to rise it don’t close your eyes. My partner gets motion sickness and did on the last trip as she closed her eyes a bit, whereas this time she was fine.

Velocicoaster I really wanted to ride but at the end of the trip it was regularly closed due to weather or it had massive wait times 185 mins + so one day we’ll be back for this.

The whole parks superb and we’ll set out and the staff are very friendly and helpful, then there’s the evening shows, the Christmas show on the Hogwarts castle is superb and very different to be show we watched back in May.

We wanted to go on the new Velocicoaster ride and so aimed for that at park opening. We had purchased the Express Unlimited tickets for the day but the ride was not on the list so we had to queue. The queue took 60mins but there was plenty of shade and fans and it moved pretty quickly. It was also a pretty amazing rollercoaster ride, my kids' favourite!
We then got on Hulk, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and then undertook another 70min queue for the Hagrid Motorbike ride as that was also not on the list that is allowed with the Express Unlimited. This ride had little in the way of shade and many of the fans were not working. The ride itself was good, ride on the motorbike, not in the cabin if you want more of a thrill.
There were then storms later in the afternoon so we couldn't go on any more rides after that. So great rides, long queues for the new rides, not sure the Express Unlimited tickets were worth it!

We visited during peak period, paid top dollar, and then didn’t get to ride Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure because it broke down twice in the span of 45 minutes while we were waiting in line. We gave up and didn’t try to ride again for fear that it would keep having issues and we would waste more time out of our day. They should do a better job of notifying everyone how long they expect the delay to be rather than just playing the same automated message over and over again. Would also suggest putting in estimated time markings along the line since you can’t see how close you are to the front and gauge how much time you have left before you board.

Will say though that the Velocicoaster was a great ride and the way they built the line to go through is very efficient. The staff was also great at directing people and constantly kept things moving. This ride also experienced equipment problems when we were in line but they were resolved quickly.
