Last time I was here in my teens and am now in 30s. Came with my wife and daughter who is 12. Park is quite clean, wasn’t too busy (highly recommend week days), and the solo line was great. Wife and kid don’t ride the big coasters so the single line is genius and I was able to get on some of the bigger rides in under 20 minutes. I was surprised at how fair food prices were. We ate at two restaurants and both were definitely not a rip off. The ButterBeer was pricey $8.50 for a 16oz cup, however it was quite tasty (I felt this was the biggest ripoff of all things but it was worth it still). I highly recommend the refill cup if you plan on visiting multiple days or you have a family that drinks a lot of soda, water, icee, or anything else. Best rides hands down for me are Velocicoaster and Hagrids Motorbike. E.T. The ride definitely shows it’s age, although it provided some nostalgia (oldest ride in the park). I highly recommend making the trip once here in your life, the best place for family entertainment I’ve been to!

Islands of Adventure is one the best theme park experiences in the theme park industry. The park is divided into 8 islands (theme lands), each with a different feel and immersion. It's a nostalgic experience for many who grew up with Marvel, King Kong, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, Dr. Seuss, and Jay Ward cartoons. This is also he place for some of the most memorable rides and attractions, such as, Incredible Hulk (my favorite ride in the park), Amazing Adventure of Spider-man, Skull Island, and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.

Islands of Adventure is a great place for families with older kids, teens and thrill seekers, it offers a lot thrill rides. The park is easy to navigate, the theme lands surround a lake,so the walkway is a circle. The food variety, I found to be better than Universal Studios., but it' pretty pricey. Get butter beer its delicious.

I recommend getting the two day two park pass, allowing you to go to both parks on the same day. Unlike Disney, who's parks have a lot of distance between them, both Universal parks are right next to each other, just a short walk from each other. Now depending how much time you have and when you go will determine whether it's necessary to get an Express Pass to cut the lines, summer time is insanely crowded.

Overall Islands of Adventure is great place to spend a day, but plan it well, cause it is an expensive park. I will return soon and hopefully more things are open to make the trip much more satisfying. So if Orlando is in your travel plans, Islands of Adventure is a great option for fun and memories.

Hi Josue! Thank you for your review. I am happy to hear that you enjoyed our many different themed areas and attractions! The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man is one of my most favorite attractions, so I love to hear that you enjoyed it as well. One of my favorite family friendly areas is Seuss Landing, there are so many amazing areas to explore with incredible details. It is a great recommendation to have a multi-day ticket to ensure you can see everything we have to offer. We hope to see you again soon! -Brianna

We wanted to go on the new Velocicoaster ride and so aimed for that at park opening. We had purchased the Express Unlimited tickets for the day but the ride was not on the list so we had to queue. The queue took 60mins but there was plenty of shade and fans and it moved pretty quickly. It was also a pretty amazing rollercoaster ride, my kids' favourite!
We then got on Hulk, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and then undertook another 70min queue for the Hagrid Motorbike ride as that was also not on the list that is allowed with the Express Unlimited. This ride had little in the way of shade and many of the fans were not working. The ride itself was good, ride on the motorbike, not in the cabin if you want more of a thrill.
There were then storms later in the afternoon so we couldn't go on any more rides after that. So great rides, long queues for the new rides, not sure the Express Unlimited tickets were worth it!

We visited during peak period, paid top dollar, and then didn’t get to ride Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure because it broke down twice in the span of 45 minutes while we were waiting in line. We gave up and didn’t try to ride again for fear that it would keep having issues and we would waste more time out of our day. They should do a better job of notifying everyone how long they expect the delay to be rather than just playing the same automated message over and over again. Would also suggest putting in estimated time markings along the line since you can’t see how close you are to the front and gauge how much time you have left before you board.

Will say though that the Velocicoaster was a great ride and the way they built the line to go through is very efficient. The staff was also great at directing people and constantly kept things moving. This ride also experienced equipment problems when we were in line but they were resolved quickly.

Hi Sandy, Thanks for taking the time to leave this review. I'm glad to hear you had a chance to visit our newest attraction, Jurassic World VelociCoaster during your stay! That said, I am disheartened to hear of the attraction downtimes you encountered. We have sophisticated attractions, which feature state-of-the-art, one-of-a-kind technology; this occasionally results in ride downtimes, which cannot always be diagnosed and repaired immediately. When this does happen, we work diligently to resume normal operation as soon as safety possible, as well as to keep our Guests updated. I apologize if your visit did not reflect this, and please know that I've ensured your feedback has been documented to be shared with the proper leadership teams for their review. If you'd like to discuss your visit further, I encourage you to reach out to our Guest Services Team at 407-224-4233, via email at GuestServices@UniversalOrlando.com, or via private message on the official Universal Orlando Resort Facebook Page. We appreciate you reaching out. and we hope you'll choose to visit again in the future. Samantha

We spent the day at Universal's Islands of Adventure, at the end of the day we felt that it was an ok day, but definitely lackluster. We bought the express passes which ended up being a collosal waste of money, especially considering that they were priced higher than the actual cost of admission. The two most popular rides, Velociraptor and Hagrid's Motorbikes don't have an express lane but instead have a single rider lane. These two rides are by far the best rides in the park and therefore the most popular. Waiting a little under an hour for the ride when you've spend hundred of dollars on a fast pass is really ridiculous. All the other rides had decent wait times so our fast passes didn't end up saving us a lot of time, but came with a hefty price tag. I also felt that when buying an express pass they should give you a lanyard as a staff member needs to scan it at ever single ride. It's a small piece of paper and having to keep it handy but safe all day was a nuisance. When paying $159 for the pass, including a cheap lanyard for safe keeping and convenience doesn't seem like too much of an added expense to the park that would really improve the experience for guests. My youngst son received a lanyard when we purchased our Photo pass which was a great help.

I also felt that the park was very commercialized and had stores side by side or across the street from each other that were carrying the same things. My younger son enjoyed the Jurrasic Park river adventure ride, meeting Spider-Man, and Captain America who were both very engaging in conversation with him. We would probably not visit again though.

The only good thing about park is rides itself, otherwise I would give it 1 rating.
1. Crowd management is a joke. People are one on top of another. Even on Tuesday, management shortened park hours for 3 hours to keep us crowded.
2. Express passes are rising cost for everyone and killing experience for most. It cost approximately $100 per day. Universal purposefully let people with pass have 4 or 5 time advantage over rest of us, to force us to buy it to have some kind of experience. If you see 100+ waiting time, it is because of express passes, and it degrades value of your ticket that is $170. I could afford express pass easily, but it is wrong and people should not buy it. You are feeding the beast!
3. Universal went lengths to ensure you can't transfer ticket. My wife couldn't have entire day and we couldn't share ticket i e. me in the morning and her in the afternoon. Sharing wouldn't increase crowd, but would decrease profits of greedy bosses.
4. Food is microwave leftovers warm up quality. In Diagon Alley, we got cold sausage and waitress said she will talk to chef... I had to laugh, a chef??? This is 7 year old kid cooking. But prices are top.
5. Lockers. Tiny ones are for free but bigger are for $2, every ride. And you have to use them. Then for water splash ride, where people know they will get wet - no free lockers and cost us $3. Dirty, dirty trick.
6. Parking. With all that money already taken, $27 bucks on top of that?

I will never make this mistake called Universal Studios again in my life. Stay away from these overpriced waiting lines. For less money there are less known, more fun parks across US and Europe. Yes, Europe! For same amount of money, you can have flight and unmatched experience.

Finally to Universal Studios - don't bother to reply with cheap, false words of compassion and care. The only apology I will accept is action - remove Express passes as it used to be as first step. Words are cheap, actions matter!

After two terribly crowded and frustrating days at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, we had low expectations at Islands of Adventure. It was our first visit so we expected the same.

We were very pleasantly surprised to find that- even during peak season- we could still get on rides and navigate the park while still feeling we got our moneys worth. Sure Harry Potter was crowded, and there were lines, but there are enough great rides and areas that it was a great day overall.

Universal’s Express Pass and Unlimited Pass actually function as intended. It’s far more expensive than Genie+, and doesn’t work on the two most popular rides (Hagrid’s & Velocicoaster), but still worth considering.

Food was better and much cheaper here than Disney also— we actually didn’t feel bad paying for drinks & food here. Overall a great day out.

Summer holidays at Universal was a lot of fun. We traveled to Orlando in the middle of July 2022. The parks were very busy, and even with early park admission and express passes we still waited in numerous long lines. I think this is just to be expected for this time of year. Express passes certainly made a difference as some rides had over 2 hr wait times without them. That being said we still waited for 30 - 60 min to get on some rides with the express, others we essentially walked onto the ride. I would recommend every use the Universal App as it gives fairly accurate wait times for rides, it makes it easier to plan your day. The Harry Potter rides at Islands of Adventure at the longest wait times, so do those first when the crowds are at their lowest. There are lots of options for food, from sit down meals to quick grab and go options. Really boils down to what you feel like doing. Overall we had a fun time, kids (12 & 10) loved most of the rides.

Best rides are Velocicoaster and Hagrids Motorbikes. We spent about a third of our time on those two rides. The lines for those two rides were extremely long and neither accepts the Express Pass. I thought the Universal Express Pass was not a good value for us given that our two favorite rides did not accept them. For many rides, the Express Pass line was almost as long as the regular line. There were multiple rides that broke down while we were in line or on the ride. One of our days was cut short as they rented the park to someone else for the evening. This was not publicized until just a few days before. We did enjoy eating at Mythos and I would recommend making a reservation there. The Harry Potter area was pretty fun.

Hello Bob. Thank you for sharing this review of Islands of Adventure. While it's wonderful to learn you enjoyed Jurassic World VelociCoaster and Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, I'm sorry to learn of your dissatisfaction with the long waits at these attractions, as well as with the pricing and limitations of the Universal Express Passes. We definitely want our Guests to be prepared for their day with us, so these limitations, and our parks hours, are posted on our website. However, I fully understand the impact this had on your day, so I appreciate you bringing this to our attention and I will be sharing your feedback with the appropriate teams for their internal review. If there is anything further you would like to share about your time with us, please reach out to Guest Services at 407-224-4233, option five, or email them at GuestServices@UniversalOrlando.com. -Chrisy

First and foremost, the velocicoaster is the best rollercoaster that I have ever been on. With that said, even with early entry there was still a 2 hour wait. Not only was there a 2 hour wait there, but for just about every ride. The shortest estimated wait time was 85 mins, we definitely waited longer than that. Universal is a big dog, I understand that and the big dogs #1 priority is making their money, and they must make a bazillion dollars in express passes alone. The individuals with an E pass outnumbered those without. The pass should be luxury and a luxury loses it's allure when EVERYONE has one. I am not sure who in operations thought " lets not put a cap on these and just sell, sell, sell". So be prepared to wait until there is no one in the express pass line. We waited in the regular line with MAYBE 30 people in front of us for the Hogwarts express, and watched over 100 express passers go in front of us in the course of 45 mins. We ended up walking after an hour of no movement. Next point, The train was delayed, kick it was delayed, the castle adventure ride was delayed.....causing those estimated wait times of 120 mins to be far longer. We waited in line for over an hour to ride Hagrids Magical creatures to be delayed at about 1030am. We decided to stay the course after we were notified and there was no change after about 20mins. We revisited the ride twice after that, once at about 1 then again around 4 and it was not accepting riders. Why do you have to reserve a ticket to the park on a particular day if you are going to pack people in like sardines? Then, allow 75% of them to purchase express passes. I understand that overcrowding isn't usually a company's "fault", however when guest reserve tickets there should be a cap or at the very least better crowd management. The staff at Universal is rude! From the turnstiles at the shuttle drop off to the ride attendants, they could not be bothered to respond to a simple "thank you". In short, this isn't what some consider an "affordable" trip. So, to only be able to ride 5 rides in 12 hours, due to waiting for delays, everything being delayed, not being able to board the train, and the mess that is the express pass as a whole, it was a waste of money. Aside from the velocicoaster being so amazing, the park being visually appealing has saved this from being given 1 star
