really, really, REALLY want to improve!

My golf buddy, Mike, has been talking for years about going to this academy to really, really, REALLY work on his game. He finally talked me into going. I was a little leery at first. I've had some back issues lately and didn't know if my back would hold out for 3 days of 9-5 golf. So with enough medicine on board, I signed up. What a great experience. As a previous reviewer commented, they really take care of the details. We arrived each morning 30 minutes early to warm up. The first day started with Mike Lane doing a comprehensive physical that looked at our flexibility, among other things, in their workout building. We moved on to Brett Meyer, certified club fitter. He gave us great information regarding the clubs we were using and/or should be using. My clubs were OK but Mike needed some help. (He ended up getting a new set of irons at the end.) We then met our instructor - Nate Myszkowski. This is the guy we were to spend the next two and a half days with. Of course, he videoed our swing, took us to his office and showed us what we were doing wrong. It's amazing that we were able to get around the course prior to taking this course! Back to the practice tee to hit balls. What a difference some slight adjustment makes! Later in the course, Nate videoed us again just to show us the difference in our old swing vs our new swing. Soooo much better!! We worked on full-swing, short-game, including sand, putting, driver and 3-wood off the deck. Not only did my distance improve, my accuracy was much improved! The 3-day course includes an hour with Dr. Bob Winters on mental preparation before and during the round. And a session with Shaun McBride, a tour-level caddy. Both of those guys emphasized just how much of the game is mental. Since we visited during PGA Merchandise Week, David, himself was there. We got to meet him, had our picture made and got autographs. Nice guy and a pleasure to meet. Lydia Ko, #2 LPGA golfer, trains there and we got to meet/have our picture made with her. What a sweet person. She acted as if she had known us for years. If you're thinking about improving your game, this is the place. You get a discount if you go as a pair. Is it pricey? Yea, but it's worth it if you really, really, REALLY want to improve your game. While you are there, say Hi to Kevin and Mike 2. All the staff is really friendly and goes out of their way to make your experience a great one.

Palm Beach Academy: Masterful Instruction
Jan 2019 • Solo
I booked the three-day “mini school” for early January in order to decompose and refine my entire swing repertoire. The instructor, Billy Stewart, was attentive (he listens exceptionally well) and paid close attention to MY game ... not some imaginary perfection.

The course structure allowed for two hours of morning instruction and then I was able to book tee times to try things out. Each morning we discussed my experiences, and Billy was able to grasp what I was experiencing.

The video feedback capture is exceptional. I now have personalized instruction available for easy reference.

I don’t know how Billy stacks up against other Leadbetter instructors, but if he is typical then this is a great value for money and imminently actionable in terms of self-improvement.

I will return again ... this was an excellent experience.

What a fantastic experience

I recently won a hour seesion in a charity raffle, and could not be happier. The lesson is priced at $225. At first blush that seemed exceedingly high, but after experiencing this, the price is fair. This is not your father's golf lesson!

My instructor was former tour pro (and winner) Bob Lohr. He was friendly, pleasant, patient, creative and knowledgeable - I would highly recommend him to anyone of any ability. As a point of reference, I am a one-time10 handicap in his forties, now struggling to break 100.

The lesson started with a shuttle ride from Champions Gate, where the instructor greeted me by name and catered to my every need. The woman in the por shop treated me like a king and could not have been more accommodating or helpful. I was literally amazed at how well I was treated, especially considering I was not even a paying customer.

I then had 30 minutes to warm up on the range. My clubs were set-up with my own pyramid of range balls behind a placard with my name on it. They do all of the little things right.

On to the important piece: the lesson. Bob Lohr came over and introduced himself. He had me hit a few shots with different clubs, and made me very comfortable and relaxed. He then moved into some very minor adjustments, but really focused on watching me. After several minutes of this, he videotaped my swing.

From there, we went into the clubhouse and reviewed my swing. The technology was amazing to me. He used a telestrator and with a split screen compared me to pro golfers who did things either similarly, or in a method that I should emulate. I won't get into the gory details of the swing analysis, but will tell you it was the most enlightening lesson I've ever had.

We headed back to the range to apply some of the recommended new techniques, then went back in for a second round of video analysis. This time, Bob narrated our findings, his recommendations and highlighted focus areas and recorded the video for my future use. Absolutely amazing, and incredibly enlightening.

We went back to wrap up, used a few of their swing aids, and he then offered to let me stay for awhile to work on what we learned.

In total, it was the perfect golf learning experience. I cannot fathom anyone with a better teaching demeanor than Bob Lohr, and am still pleasantly amazed by the personal interest and patience he exhibited with me.

The video angle of the lesson is invaluable and a must-have for anyone attending the academy.

Enjoy your experience, and I highly recommend requesting Mr. Lohr.
