Boy did we love our time in WWHP! Hogsmeade was packed with people pretty much all day except the first 30min or so and the last 90min or so (on April hours). Diagon Alley was also busy but is a bigger space so we didn't feel as crammed in. So, we tried our best to go early and late to enjoy the less busy times. Casting spells is SO fun and we went three times a day to do just this. Looking in shop windows and shopping, taking in the scenes from HP was very magical. We recommend the castle light show and Tales of Beedle the Bard shows at least once. Get some mail postmarked at the Owl Post, pick a wand (or have one pick you!), try butterbeer of all kinds and just enjoy the scenery. Come with an express pass if you want to do any rides without long waits. This place is very busy and popular but that's because it is SO rad.

You'd feel as if you had been transported to the Wizarding World but I cant remember the movies having shops and streets being quite so overcrowded! That said, the architecture and attention to detail is out for this world.

Purchasing an interactive wand is a must for the kids, we took our old one from a few years ago which Olivanders repaired (replaced) for free which was a wonderful touch, as this gives you the ability to try 'spells' in mainy of the shop fronts.

It is truly an amazing experience. If you are a fan of the books and movies you could stay in this area for hours on end, with so many things to see and do.

The rides are worth the wait, Hagrids Adventure being our favourite; you could see how much thought had gone into the ride and an brilliant addition to the park.

The Hogwarts light show which started at 8pm when we where there and restarted every 20mins or so until 10pm was fantastic.

Generally prices far exceeded what you thought you were likely to pay, even as a captive market and realist. That said, but you must have a butterbeer and make the most of the experience

Harry Potter books and movies come to life. If you are a super fan or not a fan at all this is a must see. Absolutely the best experience ever. I would recommend a park hopper so you don’t miss out on riding the Hogwarts Express on platform 9 3/4. I would also recommend going into Universal Studios first. Diagon Alley was less crowed then Hogsmead. Buy your wand at Ollivander’s on Diagon Alley.
Yes, the wand is worth the cost. There are about 15 “magic areas” in Diagon Alley and about 12 at Hogsmead. The magic areas are mapped out on the map given to you when you purchase your wand. Also the directions for the motion are on the map but also on the gold marked areas in the cement. Stand on the gold area and use small motions to get the magic to work.
Plan a whole day with the park hopper just to experience both of these areas. Both areas are huge and wait times could limit what you see. I would recommend the lightening pass so you can ride all the attractions.
FYI…My husband is not a Harry Potter fan but thought the whole experience was better than expected.

Yes Hagrid’s motorbike ride was fun, but Universal overall is terrible. We couldn’t help but wonder how much nicer the Corrine would have. Even if the park was run by Disney.

With 4 HOUR queues, even if you upgrade (for $$$) they sell so many express passes you’ll find yourself waiting well over an hour.

The wizarding world is packed with not enough staff so the shops and carts have ridiculously long queues. Many of the staff are rude and would much rather be somewhere else.

There is not enough seating or shade and the exhaustion soon outweighs the excitement. $6 candy in Disney costs $16 here. It’s insane!

Honestly even if you’re the biggest Harry Potter fan, don’t bother - head to Disney!

Got up early to be at the gates to the park to start queuing just after 7am. Park gates open at 7.50 to let you in to rush through the park to the Hagrids magical creatures ride. Shows as opening at 8 o’clock on the queuniversal app. No one at the gates suggests anything different.

Once we walk for 10 minutes with the hundreds of other people to the place to queue for the ride, we get there to be told it’s not working at the moment but hopefully will be shortly.

We speak to a couple in the queue. He came a couple of years ago and had exactly the same experience of getting there early and the ride breaking down.

So we are given the option of waiting for that ride which otherwise you have to wait for 120 minutes to get on… or we go all the way back round the park to queue at the other popular ride which now had a queue of 45 minutes.

We spend what turns out to be an hour until 9 o’clock in the queue trying to find out if it will open, to be told it may or may not be open at all.
We left the park in disgust having spent two hours queuing and getting nowhere.

A couple of days earlier we went in early to go to the Harry Potter escape from gringotts ride - we got down to the front of the queue be waiting outside the lift doors only to be told it had stopped working. Again 25 minutes wait and then we are told we might as well leave. Another hour wasted on Harry Potter world.

You would think they would get the rides working consistently or do something for all the people they make wait around for nothing…. Do they care? No

Hi there, We appreciate your review. I'm saddened to hear of your experience. We have sophisticated attractions, which feature state-of-the-art, one-of-a-kind technology; this occasionally results in ride downtimes, which cannot always be diagnosed and repaired immediately. When this does happen, we work diligently to restore normal operation as soon as safely possible, and cause as little inconvenience to our Guests as possible. I sincerely apologize that your visit did not reflect this, and I totally understand your frustration. Please know that I've ensured your feedback has been documented, and it will be shared with the appropriate leadership teams for their review. If you'd like to discuss your visit further, I encourage you to reach out to our Guest Services Team at 407-224-4233, via email at GuestServices@UniversalOrlando.com, or via private message on the official Universal Orlando Resort Facebook Page. We visited this attraction at about 3pm, hoping the crowds had dispersed a bit, having done the rest of islands of adventure earlier in the day. It was still very busy but the ride queues were not overly long, except Hagrid’s ride, which had a 135 min wait (previous days I had seen a 210 min wait). We skipped that and did Harry’s ride and Flight if the Hippogriff, both under 35 min. Harry’s ride is absolutely incredible, one of the best I’ve ever been on. And the queue inside the castle is highly entertaining (and air conditioned). This is after you’ve shoved your backpack in the tiny lockers they require your belongings to be kept in.

Hogsmead was incredibly crowded and difficult to manoeuvre. The obligatory butterbeer will set you back a good chunk of change. But the whole setting was incredible and magical, and really rang true to the books.

We picked up a few souvenirs, but i recommend checking out the tons of gift shops in the area that sells Harry Potter merchandise for a fraction of the cost.

I’m giving four stars as I really resent having to buy a park hopper to visit the whole thing (we didn’t and thus did not ride the Hogwarts express or visit the part at Universal Studios).

Okay, I honestly love this place! Even got the annual pass just so I can visit whenever I want :D Love when I'm walking through into Diagon Alley and it opens up so magnificently. Love hearing the gasps of the people seeing it for the first time! Honestly wish they would open up more of the stores in the space they have available! When you go, be prepared to spend quite a bit of $$. The merchandise and food can definitely add up BUT if you're a hardcore Harry Potter fan it's lovely to imagine being there in the films or the world itself, eating the same food that Harry, Ron, Hermione, and countless others enjoyed throughout the years. Recommendations: Visit this part of the park first thing in the morning because if you go later on in the day, you can expect to be in line for hours. Another recommendation, stop by Florean Fortescues and get yourself a swirl icecream with blondie bits, chocolate chips, and sprinkles- so tasty! Get your money exchanged and pay in wizarding money throughout the park, as well! and you MUST, I repeat, MUST purchase a frozen butter beer! So tasty! Enjoy your time in the Wizarding World!

This attraction is a must! The experience is like no other and worth the wait. A tip for future travelers the best thing you can do is get to the park first thing in the morning and get in line for this attraction first. You cannot take any items in with you such as purses or bags so you will be prompted to go to the lockers that are right next to the attraction. The cost for the locker is $2.00 and you can pay using your debit card. I would not recommend this attraction for children under 6 yrs old. Overall experience was awesome!

I went with my 11 year old son mid August. We went mid week thankfully as when we left on a Saturday I could tell just at my hotel how packed it was going to be! My advice is to get there early. We were in the Dockside hotel so we had early access. We were on the bus by seven and in line by 730. We entered the park at eight when it opened and although there were still hundreds of people entering at this time we were able to go straight on the Hagrid roller coaster and also the Harry Potter Forbidden Journey ride.

I generally am a scaredy-cat and don't like roller coasters but my son begged me to go on the Hagrid ride with him. The first time I was petrified, it is really fast but the second time I just enjoyed it knowing what was coming. The harry potter forbidden journey was not for me. Anyone who gets carsick and seasick like I do will feel really sick and dizzy on this ride. My son thought it was OK but I had to close my eyes for at least half of it.

Because we got there at the opening time we were able to go on both rides straight away. If you get there after lunch or even after 9ish you will have to join long lines on the virtual app for the Hagrid ride.

The rest of the Harry Potter world was pretty cute but not mind blowing. My son was not that interested in the virtual wand part. We saw lots of people trying to use them but they didn't always work well. They cosy $59 each and honestly I think you can do the wizarding world without them. We went to the Olivander store where they choose one child and go through a little wand skit. It was a bit boring and of course it's all about buying the wand at the end.

The butter beer is not cheap, but r got a the frozen one and it was delicious. If you don't get it early in the day or late at night there will be long lines. We went into the Three Broomsticks and didn't have to queue, but we didn't love the menu so we left.

On our last night we went into the park around 8 PM. My son was excited to go on the roller coasters and didn't have to wait too long and then around 845 we went back over to Hogwarts to see the light show on the castle which was really special.

We got the Hogwarts express a few times back-and-forth from the parks and never had to wait more than a few minutes. They show in the train is different in both ways so it's worth taking it both ways.

Overall it was really fun, but there isn't that much to do outside the 3 rides. The Flight of the Hippogriff ride is just an old fashioned and pretty lame rollercoaster. The other 2 rides are pretty cool and that is it. Walking around is fun for a little while but then you realize you have seen it all pretty quickly.

This is the place we spent the most time at both parks. Not all was positive. The Hogwart's Express broke down and we wasted more than 1 hour in line not knowing that there was a problem. We eventually left the line but it would have been nice if Universal officials would give a heads-up to visitors that they are in a line that the wait may be longer than normal because the ride broke down. The design and attention to detail of this world were fantastic and just exploring the various shops was fun. My family loved Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, and rated it their favorite. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey was top-notch and the walk through the castle made the wait more enjoyable. I liked Hogsmeade better than Diagon Alley at Universal Studios. It simply felt bigger and less crowded. Two of our group rode Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts but this was the 3rd ride of the day that broke down while they were in line and the wait was incredibly long.
