While down in Orlando, I looked up what to do in Orlando. I am NOT interested in chains or theme parks. I wanted to see something that was unique to the area. I saw this place on trip advisor and we went down to take a look at it. We were surprised to see it’s very limited. The “bakery” is shut down the “stores “ limited to the vintage store and a gift shop. There a Portuguese restaurant and a bike/ coffee / beer place. That was all we saw. We glanced down side streets and could see nothing else. Granted we did not go down on Monday night but the pic and description was misleading. I get people who live here see it a differently because everything is very commercialized down here and this area is not. And it tru it’s small business and quaint but don’t pay for an UBer to come all the way down there. There not enough to do. Great if you are already in the area.

You may not be cool enough for this place?!?
Dec 2017 • Couples
Are you a hipster? Are you childless? Are you under 30? If you answered yes. This is a place for you! I am 47 and although I think I’m Lindy cool, I do not fit in here. The East End market was neat stop with Gideon’s bakery and a cool plant store but the only other shopping I saw were a couple of strip centers with vintage clothing and other “cool” stuff. “P for pie” was closed and that was sad because they were one of the reasons I wanted to visit the area.

The houses were cute. There was not anything else going on as far as I could tell. If you are not “cool”, just go to Disney Springs where you will fit in.

Best neighborhood in Orlando
Nov 2017 • Family
As a resident of the neighborhood I’m biased. Having said that, this is the best. It’s all local bars, shops & restaurants, no chains here. It’s a very hip neighborhood, very walkable.

Awesome neighborhood
Aug 2017
I have been lucky enough to live here for many years and have seen the growth. The atmosphere is so cool and all the new little businesses are great additions, especially the restaurants. The Monday night farmers market is wonderful and the theme activities in the neighborhood bring people together. It is a great place to live or visit!

I live here & its awesome!

I live here & it's awesome! Lots of independent shops, restaurants & bars, including a renovated Church that is filled with eateries, desert& coffee shops, & stores. You will not find any chain stores here (except for a 7-11). Leu Gardens is in this neighborhood. Great place to spend a couple hours if you want to see the real Orlando.

Fun, Authentic Part of Orlando
Jan 2017 • Friends
We've been to Orlando for work many times, but it's only lately I began searching out where locals go. This little shopping district packs a wallop for such a small place. After checking out the botanical garden (Leu Gardens) at one end we went in search of a place to eat. We grabbed a healthy bite to eat at Bikes Beans and Bordeaux Cafe before heading to Stardust for cocktails. Afterwards we headed back across the street to Dear Prudence (a boutique with jewelry, clothing, etc. If you like cats, Star Wars or bicycles, this place is for you), Park Ave CDs (a huge record store) and a vintage furniture and clothing shop called The Lovely Boutique. I was even able to pick up a couple of great books for my niece from Bookmark It, a bookstore inside The Lovely.

Later we rented bikes from in front of East End Market to see tour some of the urban vegetable gardens a coworker knew about. (Fleet Farms.)

We had a great time. Had no idea Orlando had anything so Portland-like. Very cool place.

Hidden gem

What a fantastic place for unique shopping, craft beer and wonderful food. A must see. Eastend Market contains a fabulous cheese shop, craft beer and wonderful wines, bakery items, a juice bar with what seems like an unlimited selection and many types of organic foods. Redlight Redlight has a huge selection of craft beers and a great place to meet the locals. There is a pie shop with bite size desserts (so you can sample several), a wonderful cupcake shop called Bluebird and an ice cream shop, not to be missed.

Now for the shopping, well where to start. There are several shops with one of a kind items, many steampunk and retro items, new and vintage clothing and if that's not enough, if you're into vinyl, one of the best music stores around.
