I have been fishing with Captain Dave Lauer for several years. Always a great day and I have brought family and friends to fish with us. He does a great job of putting us on fish at Okeechobee and we have now added Peacock Bass fishing on Lake Osbourne to our fishing trips. Usually do one day at each lake on every trip down to Florida. Last week fished Okeechobee with my brother and sister-in-law and they came home smiling after catching the biggest fish of their lives. Then my girlfriend flew in and we went Peacock Bass fishing and not only slammed it but she also caught the biggest fish of her life. I fully recommend using Captain Dave as he goes over and beyond what you can expect. I have been fishing the U.S. with many different guides on many different lakes and Dave is as good as it gets.

Once again had an incredible trip with Captain Nate with Shellen Guide Service. This was the fourth trip down fishing with and with me and my oldest son Carson and the first for his little brother Preston. We had a great three days with Nate with the last morning on Headwaters Lake being unforgettable. We caught 32 bass with 17 of them being over 4#’s and P.B.’s for all three of us. I caught an 8#10oz, Preston 8#12oz, and Carson 9#10oz. We can’t wait to get back down again for another shot at a 10# or bigger!

All I can say is wow, we had an amazing time. Captain Randy was awesome , the fishing was amazing, and the scenery was beautiful. Catching so many fish did not have time for many pictures. My husband is already planning a trip to go back in February.

I have been fishing for 50 years and have ever since I was in my teens wanted to come and fish with a pro on Lake Okeechobee. Well after being here for almost three years and saving the money to spend on my one day event with my father-in-law, I scheduled a day with a local pro. We met on a Sunday morning, the boat was in the process of being sanded and prepared for a vinyl wrap. The motor was fast, the weather was great. I have never fished as hard in all my years of fishing. All day, I caught one fish, about 2 lbs, the pro caught one fish, about the same size. My father-in-law caught none. I requested a half day of artificial and a half day of shiner fishing. I got all day artificial. Disappointed. To not get what I requested and to never get the experience of that Big Bass!!
Was told at the end of the day as we went back to unload that we would get back together and try it again....it has been 8 months, no phone calls. My time here is up and now, my dream of experiencing Lake Okeechobee Big Bass has come and gone.
Do your research well when it comes to choosing a guide. Be sure the guide gives you what you pay for. Ask up front if you get a redo or something if you don't catch fish.
I listen every Saturday to a radio show that promotes Lake Okeechobee and this pro. He is a great guy and I truly believe he knows the lake and his business. But, don't make empty gestures you have no intent on keeping. Memories are made, good and bad. Dreams sometime get to be a reality, and sometimes they just remain a dream.....

Rick P,
Sorry to hear about your not so great experience. But after doing some research I noticed it was not with our service. "Lake Okeechobee Bass Fishing" is the largest most reliable service on the lake.
I am guessing it was "Okeechobee Bass Fishing" which I know is confusing. But its hard to keep people from copying the name.
If in the future you want to try your luck again, be sure to contact us and will provide you with the dream trip you were hoping for.

Really enjoyed our 6 hour, bass trip on Lake Okeechobee (Clewiston) with Captain Mark Rogers. The weather on the previous week had been unusually cold & windy. It was slightly warmer & overcast on the day of our trip (Jan. 24,2020). Captain Mark let us know that the cold water might slow the bass activity down, but we still caught 8 nice bass during our 6 hour trip. I attribute the success to Captain Mark’s knowledge of the lake & overall knowledge of the habits of it’s inhabitants.
Captain Mark is a tremendous guide as well as a very nice person. Will definitely fish with him again! 5 stars!

Well run and staffed. My guide, Joey was excellent. Very knowledgeable and personable. I am still learning the art of bass fishing, especially with artificial lures. Capt Joey, was very patient and helpful without being controlling...he truly enjoys guiding. I enjoyed the entire experience, including the various wildlife, and caught some nice bass!

Me, a buddy, and Brian Brown, a local professional fishing guide. Windy and cold but two five pound largemouths, five smaller, and a couple of mud fish and we thought it was a pretty decent day. Brian is a real pro and knows a lot about Lake O and about how fish move and into what areas and under what conditions. A guy named Eddie, a guide who operates out of Garrards...stay away! Too obese to be taking people into open water, raggedy boat, lousy attitude. Brian works his tail off for you, is very personable, and very VERY truthful. Most of these guides carry too much BS about "what happened yesterday" but I didn't hear that from Brian. We intend to use him again. Guide fishing is expensive but Brian's rates are at, or below, the average. One guide fishes when he's after a trophy bass. I do a lot of artificial baits by myself or with friends but occasionally we hunt for something we can replicate on our wall. (It's all catch and release; or should be). And please understand ... live, wild shiners are apparently made of gold! Garrards' wild shiners are about $6-7.00 less per dozen than Roland Martin's.

Great time with captain Bo White. He knows the lake and put on some good fish for this time of the year, when fishing can be tough.

when is the best time to fish for black bass at lake okeechobee?
Fish Adventures
Florida130 contributions
Ronald, the nice thing about Okeechobee is the bass bite all year long. They literally feed every three days.
With that said, the spawning months are the times that seem to bring a lot of the big fish all together which is anytime between December and May depending on the weather that year.

Brim and Shellcraker are about to start bending. May and June are the best months.
What would be the best time and season to go?
Fish Adventures
Florida130 contributions
@RaymondK both January and February can be great months, the deciding factor would be the weather. The hard windy cold fronts tend to slow the bass, so based on that year late February mite is the most stable.
