Captain Nate was fantastic. My wife and I went out last Thursday and even though it was immediately after a severe cold front Nate was able to put us on fish, explain what we were doing and help us catch the best bass of our lives. If this was a bad day we can't wait to get back and experience a good one. We'll definitely use Okeechobee Bass Guide Service again and would highly recommend them to anyone. Thanks for the great trip. Looking forward to doing it again.

Lifelong dream to fish okeechobee so while visiting the space coast region of florida, called up to get a last minute trip with Nate to take my 16 and 14 year old out. Great morning of fishing and well worth the expense and time invested to get a shot at great bass fishing with a very friendly and knowledgeable guide. Got on water early and started catching fish right away. Would have been worth it if even if we hadn’t caught a thing but we managed to haul in quite a few! Top notch equipment and guide. Can’t recommend enough.

I have been trying for some time to get my 2 older grandsons to experience the thrill of “ catching “ big Lake Okeechobee Bass. I have Ben fishing in the winter with Nate Shellen and his father Mike since the winter of 2011. So, I know these Guides well. They have put me on fish for years!

However, while the boys have had several one day trips on Okeechobee during their college spring breaks, each trip has been spoiled by either a nasty cold front or 20+ knot winds! On Thursday, March 12, we hit a perfect day. Sunny, 75 degrees and no wind.

Thursday, Captain Nate Shellen put us on fish for that half day trip. We had shots at 40+ Lake O bass. We caught 20 plus largemouth bass, plus a few other species. Both of the boys caught the biggest Largemouth Bass they had ever caught, thanks to Nate’s coaching and patience.

The kids had fun, caught big fish, had continuous action ——- and the best fishing experience they’ve ever had on the water.

Thank you Captain Nate Shellen!

I booked a full day trip with Capt Mike Shellen because his website says that they cater to fly fishermen. When I arrived for my trip I was handed off to a younger guide, not Mike or his son Nate. My guide was great at putting me on to the bite with shiners, but once we turned to artificials, he had no clue how to set me up for success on the fly. I felt like the entire second half of the trip was a waste of time. My guide stood at the front of the boat bait casting artificials, oblivious to my pattern casting poppers, and greatly reducing my available casting arcs. I didn’t feel it was my place to tell a guide how to do his job. I would not recommend Shellen Guide Services to any serious fly fishermen. You might end up as disappointed as I was.

Did a 8 hour Bass Fishing trip with Captain Nate. The morning bite was slow. Captain Nate worked hard to get us on some Bass. Nate decided to travel 12 miles to another spot and right away he put on bass. Largest bass was 7.11 pounds. Nate has lots of knowledge on Lake Okeechobee and I would recommend him.

If you want the fishing experience of a lifetime, with memories to last forever, this is the trip for you! I recently took my 18 year old grandson on a fishing trip in Florida as part of his high school graduation present. Having just recently become an avid bass fisherman, he was hoping to expand his experience by catching a few bass with a professional. The 2 day adventure was more than he could have ever imagined! Fish, fish, and more fish! He caught 53 altogether, with a few 6+ pounders, and his PB of 9+ pounds. I even caught quite a few bass and had the time of my life....overall, it was just awesome!

Yes, the fishing was outstanding, but it was Captain Nate who definitely made it an adventure to remember! First and foremost, his expertise and vast fishing knowledge certainly made the fishing trip successful—second to none! He instinctively knew where to go and what to do to catch the trophy bass. He didn’t hesitate to change things up, yet consistently kept the focus on catching bass.

More importantly, Captain Nate’s exuberant and outgoing personality set the tone for a fun-filled excursion that was full of laughs with his funny one liners and captivating insight at life. For an impressionable young man getting ready to go away to college and play football, it was amazing to see what a great connection Captain Nate made and what a positive role model he was in such a short time. We are still quoting him....This speaks volumes to his integrity, character, warmth, care for his individual clients, and professionalism.

Don’t miss out and book a trip now....you’ll have a blast! We can’t wait to return!

First and foremost - best Captain ever ! I bought my boys a gift for Christmas to come here as it’s been something they always wanted to experience so I surprised them and booked this without knowing a thing . I did a lot of research amd kept coming back to Captain Nate . From the moment I booked it with his father , Mike . I was treated with the most kindness! He made me feel so confident it would be a trip to remember forever . I ended up booking 2 days in a row because I just liked the way they were treating me and I wanted it to be Epic ! Well it was ! We caught 46 bass in one day and average was 4 pounds up to 7 plus . My boys eyes were as big as golf balls ! In Pittsburgh - we are lucky to catch a 2 pounder . Nate showed them what to do and he made it so much fun . Everyone had such a great time both days ! Such a genuinely kind person and works so hard to make it a lifetime memory . He is truly a PRO at what he does and I would never use anyone else in the future ! We haven’t stopped talking about it . Great boat , beautiful waters and he is so skilled amd knowledgeable of the lake . Thank you Nate and your father Mike for one of our favorite charters of all times ! We will be back ! Take care and thank you !!! Michelle and boys !

The weather and the fishing were great! This was my second trip to Lake Okeechobee and the second time I’ve caught some great bass with Nate! I’ve used them with customers, and just a few days ago with my son and daughter’s boyfriend.

We caught about 20 bass in a few hours ... a few were around 6lbs.

Looking forward to the next trip!

Mike set us up with Randy who was knowledgeable friendly as it was a suppose to be windy day (20 mph) and he suggested the canal to enjoy a more peaceful day. Carole and I had a wonderful, relaxing time as we caught a little over a dozen with Carole bagging the two big bass of the day at 5.25 and 7.5 lbs. We would highly recommend this service to anyone looking for an experienced guide and fun on the water.

With my family in town this weekend, Okeechobee Bass Guide Service set up the bass fishing dream-come-true for my Dad. Having lived his life boasting in his 4.4LB large mouth bass from decades ago, my Dad’s smile is still shining after Captain Nate put us in the strikezone and my Dad hooked up an 8.4LB monster. Even with windy and cold conditions out of his control, Captain Nate coached us through landing far more and bigger fish than “the other guys” we met back at the boat ramp.

We’re grateful for your time and care, even after guiding another group this morning and plenty of others earlier in the week. Hope you enjoy time with your family tomorrow, as much as I got to enjoy time with mine today.
