The Appleton has nothing to do with horses but everything to do with fine art. To happen upon this extraordinary treasure in my adopted community was a delight. Two continuously flowing floors featuring a wonderful permanent collection augmented by traveling exhibitions is truly a gift to the residents and visitors to Ocala and the North Central Florida area. I have... More

That is how you feel when you enter the museum. You can walk anywhere in the building and admire all the beautiful art and sculptures. You never feel rushed. There is a small gift shop that, at the end of your day, you can grab a little something to bring home to remind you of all the beauty you saw... More

This attraction is outstanding. Expecting to view art works on a wall instead we were immersed in an experience with cartoons, photos, food, entertainment and lectures that enthralled us at all ages. Look it up online to get a schedule of exhibits and presentations. This will be a regular stop for us.

I have been to many museums in and out of the country, this museum was outstanding, service people very friendly and happy to chat or help. No pressure. You can tell everyone here loves their job. Great, and I mean GREAT sculpture and oil paintings of various periods. This is a MUST.

In the small city of Ocala Fl is a world class museum filled with spectacular art. There are permanent exhibitions of European, American, Asian, African, Pre-Columbian, Islamic and Contemporary art. My favorite is the outstanding European collection. This is an active museum with art films, lectures, events, themed tours, music, programs for children and hands on studio work. We became... More

Appleton Museum of Art was simply enchanting and some examples can be seen in my submitted photos. I was impressed with the fact that the city of Ocala provided lush forested land and Albert & Martha Appleton supplied ideas for the building design, funded the elegant museum building and donated art from their personal collections. Similarly, today that same kindness,... More

Ocala has more to do than most people realize, but even people who have lived here for many years are sometimes surprised to find out we have our very own, world-class art museum - The Appleton Museum of Art... Don't Miss It!
