About
Our founders, the Thompsons, connected over a mutual love of animals, and thereafter discovered an unknown breed of horse, developed by British Gypsies, while traveling through the English countryside. After a four-year journey to understand these horses and the culture that created them, they took part in naming them, the Gypsy Vanner horse. The Gypsy Gold Farm is home to the first 16 registered horses of a breed that's now 6,000 animals strong with registries . Their 40-acre farm is a Central Florida Trip Advisor favorite, education and cultural oasis, where visitors learn about one of the most colorful and least understood societies on earth and the magical Vanner Horses they envisioned. Farm tours are available every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 10:00 am and last for two hours. Tickets may be purchased on our website.

My wife and I have vacationed in Florida for over 10 years. Gypsy Gold Farm is the absolute best $40 to $45 (each) attraction we have ever attended. To start our tour, we thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful talk by farm owner, Dennis, that was entertaining, informative and at times funny. Then we were lead by a nice, young lady to meet the "stars", the beautiful Gypsy Vanners, on a short, but informative walking tour. We took many pics that we will treasure forever and enjoyed feeding our carrots to these wonderful creatures. If you are anywhere near Ocala, Florida, DO NOT MISS the Gypsy Gold Farm!!

Signed up for a 2-hour 10am tour of the farm for 3/3/2021. We stayed in Sarasota so it was an early morning drive to Ocala. We were first greeted by Erin and she exuded grace and charm as she excitedly spoke about the lovely horses. Her husband and our guide for the day, Dennis spoke so openly and passionately about his journey and invited us briefly into his world. He was informative, humorous and might I say looked a bit like Richard Gere. I’ve never even heard or seen Gypsy Vanner horses before, but glad that this was another great first experience.

Thanks Lisa, we are so glad your long drive was worth the effort and truly appreciate your generous and kind review, especially the Richard Gere comparison. My sister in law once entered me into a celebrity look alike contest in San Antonio Texas and I won it, but not for Richard Gere, it was for looking like Mac Davis, back when. Dennis and Erin

This is the number one place to see here in Ocala for a reason. The two hour tour was fabulous Dennis Thompson spends an hour giving you the beautiful story of these horses and more. Then you get to walk around the farm to touch and speak to these beautiful animals. It was my first time, but for sure not my last.

What a beautiful place. The owner who gave the presentation was very passionate. He told a great story about his life and how he got into the horse business. The history of the Gypsy Vanner breed and the people that he met along the way. His vision for the future of this farm are wide and complex. I hope he will be able to realize his dream. Actually, he already did.

What a nice surprise for not knowing where I was headed! The owner of this farm has the best "history lesson" of this amazing breed, as he should since they were the ones who found them and brought them to the United States! Very nice people whos love for this breed and the traveling people that are responsible for this breed, is clearly seen. The tribute and respect for them is heartfelt and admirable. You won't find better specimens of this breed. They are absolutely gorgeous!! The walking part of the tour is not difficult and you get a photo op with the horses. It was a wonderful 2 hours and I can't wait to see what they have in store for the future of this farm! I'll definitely be back!

What a wonderful gem of a farm in Ocala. My husband is lucky enough to work as a farrier at Gypsy Gold Farm and every time he comes home from work, he tells me that we should go for Dennis’s official tour. We have a horse crazy young friend here from Austria, so we figured now is the perfect time. The horses were absolutely amazing! I was impressed by how gentle and calm they were as well. Dennis did a great presentation that was both fun and informative and kept the whole crowd very interested. After that we got to meet the horses and that was absolutely amazing as well. Erin also took great care of us and the guest and answered all of our questions as if it were the first time she’d been asked. Thank you both for such a great morning at your beautiful farm!

The tour started out with an informative overview of the history of the horses and how they arrived into the US. Dennis was an amazing storyteller, from his youth in a small "chicken
coop" in Indiana through his inventive youth and his life of acquiring many exotic animals until his bringing his beloved Gypsy Vanner horses into the United States. Totally Amazing Stories.

The location is just fabulous, the owner is a real treasure with his history and story. The Horses, are a site to behold. So beautiful, graceful, and very friendly. Walking the grounds with the owner relating the wonderful names he has given the horses is fun-filled and enchanting. I keep returning with visitors just for an excuse to return again. If you love beautiful scenery and a wonderful narrative by the founder, don't miss it.
