I was really excited to take my family fishing on the flats while visiting Florida, but was disappointed in how little we caught. We didn't hook any redfish, and caught only one trout, which was too small to keep. In all fairness, a front was moving in, which may have affected the bite. I was not thrilled about paying the full $425 fee for four people, as it was a disappointing morning all around. It would have been nice for him to knock off the full price, since we didn't catch hardly anything. However, I realize the guy needs to make a living, and gas is not cheap.

We had a great time fishing the Mosquito Lagoon. The boat is comfortable for 4 people and all of the tackle is in working order. He had fresh lively bait and was on time.
We caught trout, redfish, a jack and 2 types of catfish. We saw dolphins and as are as well as many many birds.
Would definitely do again.

The three of us caught our limit and enjoyed our day with Capt. Karty. It was a cold start at 45 degrees. We saw a lot of schools of red fish but they weren't very hungry. All in all a good day. We will definitely use his service again.

I booked Captain Karty and his friend Mike for a two boat guide on the Mosquito Lagoon for a six person party for six hours and between the six of us we caught only 8 trout total, 3 of which Karty himself caught. Which means for $750.00 between 6 fisherman we caught 5 fish, and they weren't of any notable size.
The main species I wanted to target was Redfish and we didn't catch a single one. I'm sorry, but "the fish must not be out" is not a good excuse for a pro guide that you are paying a lot of money for. This is my 3rd guide, and my previous two guides put us on big fish throughout the entire day, so I was nothing short of frustrated at the end of our excursion.
On top of the fishing being horrible, Karty himself was not very pleasant. He was quiet, dull, not very direct with where to cast, and a couple times even spoke in a condescending manner when we didn't pull the fish into the boat the right way (which he never gave instruction for prior to departure).
And for the final cherry on top, in our last hour on board, he seemed more interested being on his phone and telling me that his wife misquoted our price. No apology about the terrible fishing, no offer for a discount, no offer for anything. It was a complete waste of time.

Some Days Are Better Than Others
I am sorry our fishing trip together was less than you expected. I strive to make every trip fun, exciting and memorable. When fishing with different anglers every time it is difficult to ascertain everyone's skill levels, and I, unfortunately, generally default to assuming everyone is better at casting than they usually are.
It is a challenge for me to be "on" at all times, especially if the fish don't cooperate.
Due to the misquote, I mentioned that you were discounted $75 per boat.
I have been providing fish excursions full time since 1992. I still get excited for my anglers and I always feel depressed when I fail to produce favorable results. I am sorry a day of fishing and a couple bags of fresh fish was "a complete waste of time.” No one was catching that day. I called and texted other guides at the time and the fish just weren't feeding. That happens on occasion. Rare, but it happens.
Please give the fishing here, if not me, another try. Tight lines, good luck. Capt Karty

ZERO fish, ZERO bites. ZERO hookups. …on a 73 degree, calm, clear, BEAUTIFUL early spring day. Nothing! My wife and I were Completely skunked. And “Capt.” Karty couldn’t have cared less…
But that shouldn’t have been surprising, as he began the trip - at the dock -by telling us how “brown tide” has killed all the grass and ruined all the fishing!!. “Mosquito lagoon is totally decimated!” He said. Funny, that’s not mentioned on his website!!! If he is so resigned to there being NO FISH in his grounds - then he needs to stop taking peoples hard earned money to NOT catch them! Please please please- do not choose Capt. Karty unless you are prepared to waste money on an a truly sub-par experience with an Unprofessional, unskilled, poorly equipped guide who EXPECTS to catch nothing and is entirely un-empathetic when he takes $400 of your dollars to do just that.

I had a great time for my first time fishing the area. I am a newbie to fishing and the captain made me feel very comfortable and was helpful. The wind was working against us, but did his best to make trip successful. I got two keepers for the first time since trying to learn this sport. I highly recommend doing a charter.

Capt Karty was an excellent guide and worked very hard to find some elusive Redfish. We took home our limit and released some real hawgs while traversing well over 15 miles of the lagoon. He poled us long distances to provide us with good chances to catch Redfish. Great Boat with plenty of room and extremly reasonable rates! I fish a lot and would put this experience very near the top. Book this guy and you won't regret it!

Four fishing amateurs had a great day on the boat with Capt. Karty and we caught a lot of different fish Trout, Redfish and a little snapper. We even had a group of dolphins visiting and playing with us. Capt. Karty is a great guy and is very helpful and supporting . If he can have amateurs like us catch fish he surely knows what he is doing. We would recommend him anytime and will book him again when we return next year!

I am an angler of average ability and have fished with Capt. Karty several times over the last few years. While some trips are more productive than others I have limited out on trout and/or redfish more often than not. Karty always works hard at finding fish and is patient when my casting skills fall short. I have fished with a number of guides and Capt. Karty is the only one I have booked for repeat trips. Hard working with a pleasant demeanor and most importantly I always learn something-I strongly recommend Capt.Karty for a Mosquito Lagoon experience.
