I have been trying to go to the State parks if I'm in the area. That is the case with Oleta River State Park. We drove around the park - took about 10 minutes and it was interesting to see all the high rise buildings on the horizon and this little piece of nature in the middle of Miami. Amazing... More

This past Sunday we celebrated my son's 12th B-day with a canoe trip! We rented two canoes with an adult in each, one with two children and the other with one child. Though we, the parents, have kayaked before this was a new experience for the entire family. Our youngest is 8 and he did well on the water. The... More

Oleta River State is one of those well-kept secret places that offers a variety of recreational and scenic activities. Rent a canoe or a trail bicycle, or simply go on a hike in a world of waves, trails or wooded parklands. Located just off 163rd Street in North Miami Beach, about 9 miles north of downtown Miami, the park is... More

Great place for outdoor family fun. The beach is nice but is usually crowded. If you have a boat, there are some boat slips for you to use as well. However, my favorite activity here is the kayaking though the mangrove swamp. It's fun and beautiful too.

The perfect outdoor water adventure you can get! Very shallow water where you can just explore different paths on your cool bright orange kayaks. After kayaking for 2 hours as I did, it wasn't a doubt that laying out near the shore with complimentary tables and BBQ grill was just a great end of a long day. There are also... More

Beautiful State Park! It is very well maintained and has a lot of scenic trails and spots. Although the kayak/canoe rentals are a bit pricey, they are totally worth it! Especially to get those amazing views of the bay and get a unique Floridian experience!
